Infant Electrocution Due to Smartphone Charge Cable-A Hidden Public Health Risk.
The report examines the autopsy and scene of accident findings of a 9-month-old male infant who died from electric shock when he bit a telephone charge cable plugged into a 3-socket extension lead.At the time of the incident, the infant's father was working outside and his mother had gone to the bathroom, leaving the infant alone in the sitting room. The infant crawled across the floor, reached a telephone charge cable that was plugged into a 3-socket extension lead, and bit the end of the cable. He was found lying motionless on the floor, holding the cable in his hand. He was sent to center for the medicolegal autopsy, during which burns and electric shock entry wounds were found on his mouth, tongue, and right hand. Histopathological examination of the samples taken from the wounds garnered findings consistent with electric shock and thermal effect. This article presents findings of an electric shock entry wound on the tongue, which is rarely seen as the result of a domestic accident. Education is needed to increase awareness among parents about accidents in the home involving children and to encourage preference for electrical products that have shown high success in safety tests.

The fundamental description of nature, beyond the Standard Model (SM), may include heavy neutrinos that mix and thus allow processes in which lepton flavor is not preserved. We investigate the impact of charged currents that couple heavy gauge bosons to heavy neutrinos and SM leptons on lepton-flavor-violating decays of SM leptons into three charged leptons, with no final-state neutrinos. We implement our expressions for the leading contributions to Br(lα → lβ lσ lσ), which hold for either Dirac or Majorana neutrinos, to the trilepton decay , of the muon, and so determine sets of masses of heavy neutrinos and the heavy gauge boson, within GeVs to few TeVs, that are consistent with the upper bounds provided by the SINDRUM Collaboration. We find, however, that constraints dictated by the upper bound on Br(μ → eγ), from the MEG Collaboration, are more stringent. We utilize such parameters to find that the contributions to tau decays are , well below bounds from B factories. The mixing of heavy and SM charged bosons is also investigated. We find that current experimental data from MEG and SINDRUM would allow mixing angles as large as ∼10−2, for a relatively light new charged boson, but the expected sensitivity of the Mu3e experiment would be capable of setting an upper bound on this angle as small as ∼10−4 if the mass of this boson is within the range of few TeVs.

Abstract Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) of the brain include congenital vascular lesions that represent about 2% of all hemorrhagic strokes. Despite the relative rarity of the disease (with a detection rate estimated at approximately 1/100.000 person-years), AVMs represent a significant neurological problem. Affected patients are mostly young and healthy. AVMs located in the medial region of the cerebral hemisphere and the limbic system comprise a special group with difficult access and consequent difficulties of resection. Furthermore, there is a high incidence of intracranial hemorrhage resulting from a complex venous drainage, sometimes directed to the superficial veins, but mostly to the deep venous system. The present case report illustrates a patient with an AVM centered on the septum pellucidum, whose initial clinical resulted from an intra-ventricular hemorrhage.

We study the condensation phenomenon for a system of charged bosons in the presence of an external magnetic field. We show that condensation happens for a definite critical temperature instead of through a diffuse phase transition. The essential ingredient, overlooked in previous analyses and accounted for in this work, is the treatment of the plasma screening effects by means of resummation. We compute the critical temperature, for the case in which the condensate is made of charged pions and for typical densities found in compact astrophysical objects, for small and large values of the magnetic field. We show that the magnetic field catalyzes the onset of condensation at very small and at large values of the magnetic field, and that for intermediate values the critical temperature for condensation is lower than for the zero magnetic field case.
Read moreOn the Higgs potential in the MS3IESM
We will briefly present a new derivation of the most general form of the Higgs potential with the highest degree of S3 flavour symmetry. The discussion will be made in the framework of the Minimal S3-Invariant Extension of the Standard Model (MS3IESM). In this form of the theory, the Higgs sector has three flavoured Higgs fields that are SU(2)L doublets and belong to a reducible 1 ⊕ 2 representation of the S3 flavour symmetry. Requiring the highest degree of S3 flavour symmetry, the Higgs potential, in its most general form, has only six self-couplings.

An optimized description of a confined interacting Fermi system
We provide an efficient form to express the action of a many-body Hamiltonian of harmonically trapped interacting Fermi particles on wavefunctions built from paired states. The expression is suitable to numerically determine the ground state energy, regardless of the form of the two-body interaction. It takes advantage of the knowledge of the two-particle problem and the inherent properties of the matrix form of the many-body wavefunction. As an example, we evaluate the properties of a system composed of a balanced mixture of two families of fermions confined in a harmonic trap interacting through a short-range exponential potential. Numerical results for N ⩽ 10 and N = 35, 56, 84 and 165 particles of each family are reported. In the strong interacting regime corresponding to an infinite s-wave scattering length, our results give an upper bound to the Bertsch parameter for harmonically trapped systems (E/EIFG)2 = 1 + β ⩽ 0.376 ± 0.008 with E the total energy and EIFG the energy for the analogous ideal Fermi gas. The influence of the harmonic trap and the interaction potential is exhibited in one and two-body correlation functions.
