Memory, narrative, and collective gendering of identity: revolutionary women in Turkey
Abstract This article examines the construction of gendered collective identity among leftist women in Turkey through their post-1980 coup prison memory. By analyzing 124 autobiographical narratives, we uncover a process of identity formation grounded in a continuous negotiation between past struggles and present concerns, constituting a counternarrative that challenges the master narrative of defeat and submission prevalent after the coup. The article’s tripartite framework of distance, substance, and persistence underscores women’s journey from marginalization to collective empowerment, producing shifting subject positions across time. By placing temporality at the center of collective identity formation, this study contributes to feminist memory literature and identity studies while addressing a significant historiographical gap by bringing the neglected struggles of leftist women in Turkey to light.

Real Interest Rate Parity in Latin American Countries: Evidence From New Panel Unit Root Tests
ABSTRACT In this study, we test the empirical validity of the real interest rate parity hypothesis for 15 Latin American countries over the period 2005–2023. To this end, we employ a battery of panel unit root tests to examine stochastic properties of the real interest rate differentials (RIDs) of the countries under consideration. The panel unit root tests that allow for both the cross‐sectional dependence and the nonlinearities in the adjustment process do not reject the null of unit root for the most of these countries, suggesting that the real interest rate parity hypothesis does not hold for these countries. On the other hand, the panel unit root test that allows for smooth structural changes produces results consistent with the real interest rate parity hypothesis for 12 out of 15 Latin American countries. These findings imply that various shocks, including political, economic, and financial upheavals, can cause significant structural shifts in the RIDs of Latin American countries.
Read moreBlockchain-based Swarm Drones for Surveillance
Blockchain and drone technologies can operate in cooperation with each other. As the number of drones increases, managing them becomes a significant challenge. A swarm of drones, also referred to as swarm drones, must operate reliably and securely. In this study, blockchain technology is utilized through a smart contract to ensure both security and reliability. Swarm drones are deployed for surveillance missions, where each execution corresponds to a single mission. These missions are represented using a simple model. A smart contract maintains the essential mission data in the model. The mission is divided into smaller tasks. Until all the tasks are completed, they are executed by drones in parallel. The smart contract, implemented on the Ethereum platform, securely exchanges information with the drones. The proposed model functions dynamically. It reorganizes when drones leave or new drones join the system. Because blockchain platforms have limited resources, particularly in memory and the number of permissible execution operations, optimizations are applied to both the smart contract and drone programs to accommodate these constraints within the surveillance framework. The proposed surveillance model is implemented and simulated to analyze its dynamic behavior.

Rehabilitation in Neuromuscular Diseases: Best Turkish Practice Recommendations by Multidisciplinary Experts.
Neuromuscular diseases (NMDs) are a heterogeneous group of diseases including motor neurone diseases (MND), muscle diseases (MD), neuropathies and neuromuscular junction diseases (NMJD). NMDs are characterized by a wide range of symptoms and findings, depending on different underlying issues. Therefore, the literature includes specific management and/or rehabilitation recommendations for each subgroup and even for some diseases within these subgroups. Currently, neither in our country nor globally is there a comprehensive recommendation study that thoroughly addresses all aspects of NMD rehabilitation developed by experienced and specialized multidisciplinary experts in the field. The recommendations in this paper have been created by a multidisciplinary team for all patients without age limitation under the headings of peripheral neuropathy/polyneuropathy, MND, MD and NMJD using the seven-step and 3 round modified Delphi method via e-mail. The strength of agreements (SOA) was calculated for each item (recommendation) using percentages (response of between 8 and 10%), median values, and interquartile range with Kappa method. The opinions of the experts were analysed according to the 3-round modified Delphi method, and a list of 110 items of recommendations for patients with NMDs of all ages was prepared in as much detail as possible to shed light on almost all questions and problems that may be encountered in clinical practice. There were 5 recommendations in the general management subsection, 20 recommendations in the rehabilitation indications subsection, 8 recommendations in the rehabilitation contraindications section, and 77 recommendations in the rehabilitation section (general principles 7 recommendations, modalities 13 recommendations, exercise characteristics 57 recommendations). We think that this study will be a light for physicians dealing with this patient group in clinical practice, as it includes fine details up to exercise prescriptions.

Read moreHow Analytic Properties of Functions Influence Their Images Under the Limit q-Stancu Operator?
Abstract In the study of various q -versions of the Bernstein polynomials, a significant attention is paid to their limit operators. The present work focuses on the impact of the limit q -Stancu operator $$S_{\infty }^{q,\alpha }$$ S ∞ q , α on the analytic properties of functions when $$0<q<1$$ 0 < q < 1 and $$\alpha >0.$$ α > 0 . It is shown that for every $$f\in C[0,1],$$ f ∈ C [ 0 , 1 ] , the function $$S_{\infty }^{q,\alpha }f$$ S ∞ q , α f admits an analytic continuation into the disk $$\{z: |z+\alpha /(1-q)|<1+\alpha /(1-q)\}.$$ { z : | z + α / ( 1 - q ) | < 1 + α / ( 1 - q ) } . In addition, it is proved that the more derivatives f has at $$x=1,$$ x = 1 , the wider this disk becomes. Further, if f is infinitely differentiable at $$x=1,$$ x = 1 , then the function $$S_{\infty }^{q,\alpha }f$$ S ∞ q , α f is entire. Finally, some growth estimates for $$(S_{\infty }^{q,\alpha }f)(z)$$ ( S ∞ q , α f ) ( z ) are obtained.

Monte Carlo simulation is used to demonstrate improved estimation performance of proposed distance-type estimators for lifetime models under progressive Type-I interval censoring. We propose novel distance-based estimators for lifetime models under progressive Type-I interval censoring. These estimators minimize the discrepancy between observed and model-based conditional failure probabilities using either quadratic or Mahalanobis distances, providing natural alternatives to maximum likelihood estimators (MLEs). Through extensive Monte Carlo simulations, we demonstrate that the Mahalanobis estimator outperforms MLE, particularly under heavy censoring or sparse data. The quadratic estimator also yields competitive results, especially under model misspecification. Two real data examples illustrate the practical advantages of the proposed approach.
