Social Virtual Reality (VR) enables shared media experiences between remote people inside immersive and realistic 3D spaces, providing richer and more natural interactions than in classical 2D social conferencing tools. Likewise, the benefits and engagement can even be magnified by integrating realistic and volumetric user representations (i.e., 3D holograms) in these virtual environments rather than synthetic avatars. This paper presents the design and evaluation of an interactive Social VR scenario for a joint and collaborative exploration of a catalogue of professional video clips by a broadcaster. On the one hand, the scenario includes a control panel to select the desired year and clip. After the year selection, a time travel through a lift effect is enforced to teleport users through a multi-level semi-open building in which each level / floor represents one year, and its look-and-feel is customized to resemble that year. On the other hand, the scenario allows the integration of up to four users represented as 3D holograms (full-body and full volume Point Clouds), each one with his/her own screen for video consumption, and arranged in a cross 360∘ shape to allow for a natural visual interaction among themselves. The evaluation results with N=48</i> professionals of the broadcast sector not only provide relevant insights about the technical requirements and obtained performance, but confirm the satisfactory user experience (in terms of presence, togetherness, quality of interaction) provided by the presented technology and VR scenario and, most importantly, reveal and contribute to identifying the potential and opportunities of Social VR in the broadcast / video consumption landscape.

Plasma phosphorylated-tau217 (p-tau217) has been shown to be one of the most accurate diagnostic markers for Alzheimer's disease (AD). No studies have compared the clinical performance of p-tau217 as assessed by the fully automated Lumipulse and SIMOA ALZpath p-tau217. To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of Lumipulse and SIMOA plasma p-tau217 assays for AD. The study included 392 participants, 162 with AD, 70 with other neurodegenerative diseases (NDD) with CSF biomarkers and 160 healthy controls. Plasma p-tau217 levels were measured using the Lumipulse and ALZpath SIMOA assays. The ability of p-tau217 assessed by both techniques to discriminate AD from NDD and controls was investigated using ROC analyses. Both techniques showed high internal consistency of p-tau217 with similar correlation with CSF p-tau181 levels. In head-to-head comparison, Lumipulse and SIMOA showed similar diagnostic accuracy for differentiating AD from NDD (area under the curve [AUC] 0.952, 95%CI 0.927-0.978 vs 0.955, 95%CI 0.928-0.982, respectively) and HC (AUC 0.938, 95%CI 0.910-0.966 and 0.937, 95% CI0.907-0.967 for both assays). This study demonstrated the high precision and diagnostic accuracy of p-tau217 for the clinical diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease using either fully automated or semi-automated techniques.

This study aimed to examine the intra-season variation and the effects of contextual variables on total distance (TD), high-intensity running distance (HIRD) and high-speed distance (HSD) covered by Spanish football teams. The sample included 20 professional teams that competed in the Spanish LaLiga during the 2021-2022 season. Data were recorded using the TRACAB (ChyronHego, New York, USA) multicamera computerized optical tracking system. Multilevel linear mixed models were used to examine the effects of five contextual variables (1: phase of the season in six periods, 2: match location, 3: opponent ranking, 4: team ranking and 5: congested schedule) on TD, HIRD and HSD. Teams increased the running performance from period 1 to 5 of the season in TD (+2.2%; P < 0.05) and from period 1 to 4 in HIRD (+7.2%; P < 0.05), while a declining effect was found in period 6 for both TD (-1.2%; P < 0.05) and HIRD (-5.8%; P < 0.05). More HIRD (+1.5) and HSD (+5.3) were covered at home (P < 0.05), and more TD and HIRD were covered when playing against opponents ranked in the first (+2.4% and +5.3%, respectively; P < 0.05) and second quartile (+1.2% and +5.0%, respectively; P < 0.05), compared to teams from the fourth quartile. Football coaches and fitness specialists should note that running performance of Spanish teams increased throughout the season, but it declined during the last matches of the competition. Additionally, home matches and highranked opponents elicited higher running demands.

This study aimed to explore the differences in playing style and technical performance according to the ranking level in Spanish football teams. The sample comprised 38 professional teams that competed in LaLiga from 2008/09 to 2020/21, with a total of 4940 matches. The teams were grouped by their final ranking position: Champion (1st); Champions League (2nd-4th); Europa League (5th-6th); middle teams (7th-17th); and relegated teams (18th-20th). Linear mixed models were used to examine the effects of the team ranking on variables related to playing style and technical performance. The F2 statistic was calculated as effect size (ES). Regarding the style of play, the Champion teams initiated offensive sequences from a more advanced field position than the remaining ranking groups with a descending effect as the ranking position decreased (p < 0.001; ES = medium). The sequence duration and passes per sequence showed a decreasing effect across ranking groups (both p < 0.001; ES = small). In contrast, the direct speed showed an increasing effect as the ranking position decreased (p < 0.001; ES = small). A decreasing effect was observed in the number of sequences ending in the final third as the ranking position decreased (p < 0.001; ES = large) while no effect was found for the sequences ending in a shot. There was a reduction effect in ball possession, passing accuracy, through balls and crosses as the teams' ranking decreased (all p < 0.001; ES = small-to-large). In summary, higher-ranked teams had an advanced starting position, longer offensive sequences, slower progression speed, more ball possession, higher passing accuracy, and more crosses and through balls than lower-ranked teams. Football coaches should consider that adopting a playing style focused on regaining the ball possession in advanced field zones and using long passing sequences can be an effective tactical strategy to improve the teams' ranking during the season.

The aim of this study was to compare physical and technical match performance variables in football players who competed in the Spanish second division for one season and were promoted to the top (first) division in the following season. A total of 97 male outfield football players who were promoted from the second to the first division of the Spanish professional football league within the same team were analysed. Data were recorded using the TRACAB (ChyronHego, New York, USA) multicamera computerised optical tracking system during five seasons (2015–2016 to 2019–2020). A one-way ANOVA repeated measures analysis showed that players executed a greater number of high-intensity running (HIR) efforts (P < 0.001; ES: 0.258), as well as covering greater HIR distance (P < 0.010; ES: 0.106) and total running distance (TD) (P < 0.010; ES: 0.080), when they played in the first division compared with the second division. Moreover, players performed a lower number of passes (P < 0.01; ES = 0.116), short passes (P < 0.01; ES = 0.106), long passes (P < 0.05; ES = 0.067), dribbles (P < 0.001; ES = 0.146) and shots (P < 0.01; ES = 0.074) in the first division compared to the second division. No significant differences were found for any of the defensive variables evaluated. In conclusion, being promoted from the second to the first division of professional football requires players to adapt to greater physical demands and a reduced number of technical actions.

The aim of this investigation was to describe how the introduction of the five-substitution option affected football teams' running performance. A comparative analysis was performed in 17 professional football teams for the 2019-2020 (up to three substitutions) vs 2020-2021 (five substitutions option) seasons in LaLiga. The five-substitution option increased the number of substitutions (from 2.9±0.1 to 4.2±1.0 substitutions/match, respectively; p<0.01, Effect Size (ES)=2.11) but it did not change the time selected for the first substitution (from 57.5±13.0 to 56.2±13.7 min; p=0.06, ES=0.1). Total running distance was similar between seasons but running distance at 21.0-23.9 km/h (from 3.0±0.4 to 3.2±0.4 km; p=0.01, ES=0.6) and at≥24.0 km/h (from 3.0±0.6 to 3.2±0.5 km; p=0.01, ES=0.3) were higher with the five-substitution option. These increases were associated with a higher distance covered by starting players (p<0.05) rather than an effect of substitute players.: With the five-substitution option, team coaches increased the number of substitutions per match which enhanced the possibilities of the team's staff to manage players' physical load. The five-substitution option allowed also increased running performance at≥21.0 km/h during the matches.

The aim of this study was to analyze the association between teams’ success at the end of the season and match running, and technical-tactical performance in two professional soccer leagues. Match running, and technical-tactical performance data were collected during two consecutive seasons. A Factor Analysis was conducted to reduce the number of performance variables into a fewer number of factors. The scree plot with parallel analysis revealed that five factors should be retained. Then, a multiple linear regression analysis was performed to explain which variables and factors were more associated with teams’ success at the end of the season. The main findings of this study were that factor 3, which was correlated with goals scored, possessions ending with a goal, shots on target, goals from set plays, goals from a direct free kick, offsides, and goals conceded, was the most important contributor to teams’ success (β = 0.66). In addition, this study observed a significant interaction (p = 0.001) between the second division of LaLiga and factor 2, which correlated with total distance (TD), sprinting distance (SPD), and sprinting actions (SPA) when opponent team owns the ball, tackles, shots inside the box, and fouls received. This implies that factor 2 had a different effect on the total points at the end of the season depending on the league. However, factor 2 had no effect on the first division. In conclusion, technical-tactical performance variables were usually more closely linked to the team’s success in both leagues than match running performance data. Regarding the technical-tactical performance, teams may focus on drills that promote goal situations, shooting accuracy, the total of shots performed in match play, and set pieces. However, defensive skills need to be reinforced considering the importance of goals conceded for team success in both divisions. When it comes to the match running performance, teams are encouraged to focus on offensive actions, in which they possess and run with the ball (especially at high speed) and defensive actions in which the players perform continuous and high-intensity physical efforts to prevent the opponents from scoring, avoid counterattacks, stay compact, and defend the area and goal.

In this paper, we explain how China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) drives urban transformation in Nepal reconfiguring geopolitical and geoeconomic relations and remaking the sociopolitical, cultural and material fabric of hitherto peripheral spaces. Given that BRI infrastructures materialize in parallel with Chinese-funded reconstruction projects, we pay attention to the role of post-disaster politics to unravel how ongoing urban transformation does not only affect the present and the future but also people's histories and post-disaster memories by treating places of (re)building as empty of previous life and history. By drawing on 16 months of fieldwork, we show that despite the evident role of the BRI as an agent of urban transformation, the materialization of most BRI projects depends on geopolitical rivalries, negotiations, unstable local coalitions and escalating social contestation. We conclude that in the post-disaster era, BRI projects have become new vehicles towards Naya [new] Nepal, along with many other infrastructural myths that preceded the country's modern history. Nonetheless, the Naya urban Nepal that is emerging from the ruins of the past is contested and uncertain, a far cry from the days of the Panchayat regime and the civil war, when such gargantuan projects were rarely challenged by Nepali people. This is the unique trajectory of Silk Road urbanization in Nepal: an ultimate path to reach a long due rural-to-urban transition that is inextricably linked with decades of infrastructural violence and precarity and strongly shaped by people's struggles against the unequal geographies of BRI-driven urban transformation.
