Physical Activity intervention effect on wellbeing and overall functioning in an CAMHS low secure service
Introduction Potters Bar Clinic, CAMHS LSU, Elysium Healthcare, collaborates with external physical exercise therapy provider Psychesoma. Psychesoma operates within two CAMHS Low Secure wards. Psychesoma works with patients who have mental health problems, ASD, and learning disabilities. Psychesoma offer person-centred group and individual sessions aiming to improve young peoples’ mood state, wellbeing, and health through Physical exercise therapy. Objectives We study the influence of physical exercise intervention in positive well-being, psychological distress, and fatigue measures in young people receiving mental health treatment under section 3 of the MHA in a LSU environment. Methods The Subjective Exercise Experience Scale (SEES; McAuley & Courneya, 1994) is a measure of global psychological responses to exercise stimuli and is a standardised measures used in previous similar research. The SEES assesses three general categories of subjective responses to exercise stimuli: positive well-being, psychological distress, and fatigue. Each sub-scale includes 4 emotion statements, with 12 statements in total. Young people are required to rate the degree to which they feel each emotion in the present moment on a Likert-type scale (1; ‘Not at all’ – 7; ‘Very much so’). Results This measure is completed pre- and post- Psychesoma sessions. The data was collected by Psychesoma trainers between December 2022 and November 2023. The measure was completed 63 times in total by 11 young people. On the positive wellbeing sub-scale, the cohort had a mean pre-session score of 11.63, and a mean post-session score of 17.23, representing a 5.31 point increase in positive wellbeing. On the psychological distress sub-scale, the cohort had a mean pre-session score of 9.18 and a mean post-session score of 7.06, representing a 2.21 point decrease in psychological distress. On the fatigue sub-scale, the cohort had a mean pre-session score of 14.73 and a mean post-session score of 10.69, representing a 3.68 point decrease in fatigue Conclusions Data indicated that young people experience an increase in positive wellbeing and a decrease in psychological distress and fatigue immediately following Psychesoma sessions. Further research in place to explore the long term duration of these effects. Disclosure of Interest None Declared

The COVID-19 pandemic introduced many new stressors to nurses in general, yet little is known about COVID-19-related stressors and resilience among nursing leaders. The aims of this study were to explore (1) the COVID-19-related stressor and resilience by personal and work demographics, (2) the relationship between COVID-19 stressors and resilience, and (3) resilience strategies used by leaders and their recommendations to other nurse leaders. This descriptive, cross-sectional study employed an electronic survey to measure COVID-19-related stressors and resilience and included qualitative open-ended questions. A total of 57 nurse leaders responded to the survey. Nurse leaders who were female, African American, chief nurse executive or nursing director, and had more than 10 years of experience reported highest COVID-19 stress in most of subscales. Nurse leaders who were male, African American, chief nurse executive or nursing director, and had more than 10 years of experience reported highest resilience scores. Nurse leaders with higher resilience levels had lower levels of COVID-19 stress in all subscales. Nurse leaders reported the top 3 resilience strategies as (1) prayer and faith, (2) social support, and (3) self-care and the top 3 recommendations to other nurse leaders as (1) disconnect, (2) positive and creative thinking, and (3) self-care.

Impacts of climate change on organized sport: A scoping review
Abstract The relationship between sport and the environment has been primarily examined to understand how sport impacts the natural environment. However, as the influence of climate change has become more apparent, there is a need to establish a systematic understanding of the impacts of climate change on the operations of sport. The aim of this review is to take stock of existing literature on climate change's impacts on organized competitive sport entities, with further attention paid to their adaptation efforts. A scoping review was conducted to identify relevant studies published between 1995 and 2021. After evaluating more than 2100 publications, we retained 57 articles and analyzed them to answer the research questions: (1) What evidence is available regarding the impacts of climate change on the operation of organized competitive sport entities? (2) What is known from the literature about the measures taken by organized competitive sport entities to adapt to the impacts of climate change? Our analysis yielded five major themes: (1) Heat impacts on athlete and spectator health; (2) heat impacts on athlete performance; (3) adaptive measures taken in sport; (4) suitability of various cities for event hosting; and (5) benchmarking and boundary conditions. This review reveals that there is evidence of some climate change impacts on sport, but the literature reflects only a small share of the global sport sector. Equally, much remains to be understood about the nature of adaptation. This article is categorized under: Assessing Impacts of Climate Change > Evaluating Future Impacts of Climate Change
