Introduction: Visual impairment hinders the perception of food debris and bacterial plaque, compromising the effectiveness of brushing and favoring the development of carious lesions. Objective: To analyze the link between visual impairment, oral hygiene habits, and the prevalence of dental caries in this population, suggesting educational or technological actions. Methodology: This qualitative, bibliographic study brings together studies published between 2019 and 2025, available in the Google Scholar, SciELO, PubMed, and BVS databases. The descriptors “visual impairment,” “dental caries,” “oral hygiene,” and “inclusion” were used. The inclusion criteria considered full texts, in Portuguese and English, that directly addressed the theme. Results: The results show that, in addition to sensory barriers, social factors such as inequality, misinformation, and the absence of public policies hinder this population's access to dental services. The research identifies promising strategies, such as the use of assistive technologies (tactile models, Braille instructions) and adapted educational programs. It also highlights the importance of training health professionals to meet the specific needs of these individuals. Conclusion: It is concluded that promoting oral health for people with visual impairment requires integrated, accessible, and personalized actions that ensure autonomy, inclusion, and equity in dental care.
