Introdução: A clínica médica é um ramo essencial da medicina veterinária que se concentra no diagnóstico, tratamento e prevenção de doenças em pacientes. As especializações dentro da clínica médica permitem um atendimento mais específico e detalhado em diversas áreas da saúde dos animais, aumentando a eficácia no tratamento de doenças complexas e oferecendo cuidados contínuos aos pacientes. As áreas de especialização incluem dentre outras em crescimento: cardiologia, gastroenterologia, endocrinologia, reumatologia, oftalmologia e oncologia. Objetivo: demonstrar a importância das especializações na medicina veterinária para diagnósticos mais precisos e tratamentos mais eficazes. Metodologia: O estudo baseado na revisão bibliográfica, onde foram utilizados os sites da PubMed e Scielo através de palavras-chaves como especializações, importância da especialização no diagnóstico preciso, resultando em grande numero de publicações na forma de teses e artigos científicos. Resultado: Como resultado da pesquisa foi possível observar diagnósticos mais precisos e rápidos como resultado do encaminhamento ao veterinário especialista, resultando em tratamentos personalizados facilitando a criação de planos de tratamento individualizados, melhorando a eficácia dos cuidados prestados e a redução de doenças crônicas através de medidas preventivas e maior adesão ao tratamento com a integração multidisciplinar de diversas áreas(veterinários, biólogos etc). Conclusão: A clínica médica e suas especializações desempenham um papel vital na promoção da saúde e no tratamento de doenças. A abordagem especializada permite uma atenção mais detalhada e eficaz às necessidades dos pacientes, melhorando os resultados clínicos e a qualidade de vida junto ao avanço contínuo em métodos de diagnóstico e técnicas de tratamento, com o reconhecimento pelo Conselho Regional de Medicina Veterinária de diversas especializações, tais como oncológica, dermatológica, cirúrgica, mas não se limitando a somente essas. O número exato de especialistas atualmente no Brasil pode variar de região.

Abstract Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) is a therapeutic modality for treating neonatal calf diarrhea. Several practical barriers, including donor selection, fecal collection, and a limited timeframe for FMT, are the main constraints to using fresh feces for implementing on-farm FMT. We report the utility of FMT with pretreated ready-to-use frozen (F) or freeze-dried (FD) microorganisms for treating calf diarrhea. In total, 19 FMT (F-FMT, n = 10 and FD-FMT, n = 9) treatments were conducted. Both FMT treatments were 100% clinically effective; however, multi-omics analysis showed that FD-FMT was superior to F-FMT. Machine learning analysis with SourceTracker confirmed that donor microbiota was retained four times better in the recipient calves treated with FD-FMT than F-FMT. A predictive model based on receiver operating characteristic curve analysis and area under the curve showed that FD-FMT was more discriminative than F-FMT of the observed changes in microbiota and metabolites during disease recovery. These results provide new insights into establishing methods for preparing fecal microorganisms to increase the quality of FMT in animals and may contribute to FMT in humans.

High performance inertial sensors based on Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) have been progressively replacing quartz accelerometers, mechanical gyroscopes (gyros) and even Fiber Optic Gyros in navigation and positioning systems, at least in the less demanding applications. But until now, the IMU/INS system manufacturers usually had to interface two different types of sensors, with different communication protocols (Analog or SPI/ <sup xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</sup> IC or RS for digital), two different type of packages, that were often bulky metal housing with pins or connectors and not compatible with standard Surface Mountable Device (SMD) assembly, and two sets of passive components. This was resulting on a complex and expensive integration and still rather large Inertial Measurement Units (IMU). In this paper, we present a technical approach selected to achieve higher performances SMD MEMS accelerometer and gyro sensors built with the same package and the same digital SPI interface to reduce the bill of material and simplify the sensor integration and thus reduce the effort and duration of the development of MEMS IMUs. It is based on a generic Sigma-Delta closed-loop capacitive MEMS architecture for both the accelerometer and the gyro combined with a hermetic J-lead ceramic package compatible with SMT assembly.

Energy-intensive industries have had to increase their production to meet global demands, consequently increasing their emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs) such as CO2. Carbon dioxide is the raw material used in enhanced oil recovery (EOR) techniques, which have been gaining importance, taking into account the issues of global climate change and the potential to store CO2. The aim of this study was to develop a project analysis framework and assess the surface characteristics of candidate fields for CO2 injection projects located in the Recôncavo Basin, Bahia, Brazil, while also considering the present environmental restrictions. The methodology employed comprised a comprehensive review of the relevant literature and field visits to identify the important aspects for this preliminary assessment. Considering the present conditions of the surveyed fields and current environmental regulations, most of the analysed fields were verified to have a high potential for CO2 injection project implementation in Recôncavo Basin.

Omega 3 fatty acids have healthcare benefits, but their absorption characteristics are not well defined, particularly for strategies to improve their bioavailability. We performed a double blind study comparing the bioavailability of 20% eicosapentaenoic acid in 4.5 grams of: natural triglyceride, reconstituted triglyceride, enzymatically synthesized triglyceride, monoglyceride and diglyceride. Seven healthy volunteers were given the supplements on five occasions while repeated measurements of eicosapentaenoic acid were taken to calculate the area under the curve for the next 24 hours. There was a significant difference between the mean of calculated area under the curve of eicosapentaenoic acid from reconstituted triglyceride (30.2) and that of the enzymatically synthesized triglyceride (11.9) and monoglyceride (13.4), z=-2.36 and -2.19, respectively, p<0.05. In summary, eicosapentaenoic acid bioavailability of chemically reconstituted triglycerides was better than that obtained from enzymatically synthesized triglyceride and monoglyceride.
