According to the 2022 National Crime Records Bureau, over 172 girls went missing, 170 were kidnapped, and nearly three were trafficked daily in India, with West Bengal and Madhya Pradesh recording the highest incidences. A key driver of child trafficking is lack of education, a problem worsened by the COVID-19 pandemic, which plunged many vulnerable families into poverty. In many cases, families resorted to child labor and early marriages for survival. PACE Learning Center (PLC) in Piyali Junction, West Bengal, has been working to break the cycle through its mission "Educate a girl and you educate a community". PLC provides education and vocational training to over 250 girls from underserved communities. In September 2023, an IEEE humanitarian initiative was launched at PLC through a collaboration between IEEE Region 6 Educational Activities Committee and IEEE Region 10 Kolkata Section SIGHT. The initial phase featured hands-on STEM workshops using TryEngineering.org lesson plans, supported by the IEEE EDS Center of Excellence, Heritage Institute of Technology. Ongoing efforts include teacher training to integrate STEM permanently into PLC’s curriculum. The second phase of the project, launched in early 2025, involves an experimental research study evaluating the role of generative AI, specifically ChatGPT as a learning assistant in hands-on circuit design education. A between-subjects design is being used to compare a control group receiving traditional instruction with an experimental group receiving additional AI-assisted support. Participants complete a final exam and a post-workshop survey assessing learning comfort, confidence, and satisfaction. Preliminary data analysis, including independent samples t-tests, descriptive and inferential statistics, and effect size calculations (Cohen’s d, Cliff’s Delta). This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of AI-assisted learning in facilitating and enhancing educational outcomes among girls in marginalized communities and to explore scalable interventions for promoting STEM engagement and equity in education.

To describe the relationships among patient self-advocacy, patient-centered communication, pain intensity, and opioid stigma in female breast cancer survivors aged 65 years or older. 73 women in a longitudinal study of symptoms experienced during the first year and as many as three years after breast cancer surgery. This prospective, cross-sectional study employed a descriptive, correlational design. Participants completed instrument assessments measuring self-advocacy, patient-centered communication, pain intensity, and opioid stigma. Self-advocacy correlated moderately positively with patient-centered communication. Patient-centered communication correlated moderately positively with informed decision-making. Nurses can empower patients with the necessary skills to self-advocate for their needs and facilitate a patient-centered clinical environment to improve outcomes.

Drawing on experiences encountered during a doctoral research journey, this paper explores the challenges of interview transcription in a study where unstructured interviews were conducted in local indigenous vernacular languages. The participants' language limitations rendered digital transcription software ineffective, necessitating the use of manual transcription methods. To mitigate the time-consuming and laborious nature of full transcription, the authors advocate for partial transcription as a practical approach in their grounded theory study on the dynamics, experiences, and aspirations of flea market traders.

Medicare Advantage (MA) supplemental benefits offered at no or low premiums are a key value proposition for low-income beneficiaries. Despite nearly $20billion in rebate payments to MA plans for funding supplemental benefits, their quality or enrollee access is not monitored. Using 2018-19 Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey data linked to MA plan data, we found that regardless of plan benefit generosity, low-income beneficiaries were more likely to report dental, vision, and hearing unmet needs because of cost. Enrollment in plans with higher corresponding-year (that is, the same year as unmet need measurement) star ratings was associated with lower dental unmet need. Income-related disparities in dental unmet needs were lower in the highest-rated plans. However, prior-year star ratings that determined plan payments were not associated with unmet needs or disparities in those needs. Policy makers should consider monitoring supplemental benefits for equity and access, and they should assess the value added by quality bonus payments to high-rated plans for beneficiaries' access.

Abstract The objective of this paper is to bring awareness, instigate interest, and promote the need of using generative AI tools for information and engineering technology students. Generative artificial intelligence (AI) is a form of AI that can autonomously generate new content, such as text, images, audio, and video. This paper will also attempt to review some of the widely used platforms for generative AI like Amazon Bedrock, Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer (ChatGPT), and Character.AI . It will expose students to multi-modal AI technologies and help them to analyze, interpret, and generate information in greater detail by leveraging different perceptual modes and guide them to help explore the benefits, features, typical use cases, and technical concepts behind them.

Policy responses to the March 31, 2023, expiration of the Medicaid continuous coverage provision need to consider the difference between self-reported Medicaid participation on government surveys and administrative records of Medicaid enrollment. The difference between the two is known as the "Medicaid undercount." The size of the undercount increased substantially after the continuous coverage provision took effect in March 2020. Using longitudinal data from the Current Population Survey, we examined this change. We found that assuming that all beneficiaries who ever reported enrolling in Medicaid during the COVID-19 pandemic public health emergency remained enrolled through 2022 (as required by the continuous coverage provision) eliminated the worsening of the undercount. We estimated that nearly half of the 5.9million people who we projected were likely to become uninsured after the provision expired, or "unwound," already reported that they were uninsured in the 2022 Current Population Survey. This finding suggests that the impact of ending the continuous coverage provision on the estimated uninsurance rate, based on self-reported survey data, may have been smaller than anticipated. It also means that efforts to address Medicaid unwinding should include people who likely remain eligible for Medicaid but believe that they are already uninsured.

The objective of this paper is to bring awareness, instigate interest, and promote the need of using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning algorithms for information and engineering technology students. This paper will also attempt to review some of the widely used methods for supervised and unsupervised machine learning and the key issues that students may come across, suggest some discrete resolutions so as to provide optimal results on the accuracy and validity of Train and Test methodology.

This book equips NPOs with tools like NDMM and seeks to provide a practical guide for nonprofits without compromising their core values.
