In this article we are interested in the contents of the interactions established between the followers of three profiles present on online social networks that inform police operations in the state of Amapá, namely: Devotos do BOPE-AP, Correio Amapaense and Bom Dia Amazônia. Our focus is on cases where the advertised outcome is the death of individuals accused of getting involved in armed clashes with police officers or where they are caught making disproportionate use of force, paying special attention to the categories recurrently triggered in these episodes by the public. Throughout the article we have argued that certain categories that recurrently appear in the interventions of the followers of the Devotos do BOPE-AP, Correio Amapaense and Bom Dia Amazônia are anchored in worldviews and moralities that express senses of justice and Rights that articulate differentiated status attributions - from identity criteria - with certain expectations and demands for unequal distribution of forms of treatments, in an arrangement that conceives rights as privileges of moral types. Exploring these categories and their senses, in their relationship with police lethality in the state, is our goal in the article. Fieldwork that supports our research were carried out between 2021 and 2024 through digital ethnography.

IntroductionGambling disorder is a rising concern among young adults, highlighting the need for effective screening to offer appropriate support and intervention.ObjectivesThis study aims to characterize gambling disorder among young adults (ages 18-25) in Portugal.MethodsA quantitative cross-sectional study was conducted using a self-administered online questionnaire completed by young adults.ResultsThis study included a population of 554 participants, 166 of whom were gamblers. Among the gamblers, the prevalence was as follows: 63% did not show signs of pathological gambling, while the remaining participants exhibited gambling addiction at varying levels: 25% mild, 9% moderate, and 3% severe. The typical profile of a gambler was identified as a male university student with an average age of 23.5 years, of a middle economic status and residing in an urban area. The preferred types of gambling were sports betting and online casino games. Most online gamblers had previously engaged in offline gambling at the age of M=19.25. The primary attractions of online gambling for these individuals were accessibility, the variety of games, and the potential for economic gains. The main encouragements to gamble online were friend´s influence and online advertising. No significant differences were observed in depression (PHQ-9) and anxiety scores (GAD-7) between gamblers and non-gamblers (p > 0.05). However, among gamblers, a strong positive correlation was found between higher levels of addiction (assessed by DSM-V gambling disorder criteria) and both depression and anxiety scores (r = 0.732, r = 0.681; p < 0.01). Furthermore, severe gambling cases were associated with a higher prevalence of prior formal diagnoses of psychiatric disorders, such as ADHD, anxiety, and depression, although this association was not statistically significant (p > 0.05). All gamblers showed a higher prevalence of substance abuse (p < 0.01). However, this trend did not extend to alcohol consumption (p > 0.05). The Jacobs Dissociative Experiences Scale was used to assess the presence of dissociative symptoms in relation to the severity of gambling addiction, revealing a strong positive correlation (r = 0.721; p < 0.01). Gamblers reported negative impacts on their family and romantical relationships. In contrast, they did not perceive their gambling behavior as having an adverse effect on their friendships or work performance. The majority (71.4%) of high-severity gamblers did not seek professional help and were not receiving any psychopharmacological therapy.ConclusionsThis study features the critical need for effective screening and intervention strategies for gambling disorder among young adults, given its correlation with mental health disorders and substance abuse. Addressing these challenges is essential for enhancing support and improving outcomes for individuals with gambling disorder.Disclosure of InterestNone Declared

Background/Objectives: Family self-care (FSC) is increasingly recognized as a vital aspect of caregiving in pediatric chronic conditions. However, its development in families of children with intellectual disabilities (IDs) remains underexplored. This study aimed to examine how families construct and sustain FSC, and to identify factors that shape its development across four domains: physical, cognitive, psychosocial, and behavioral. Methods: A qualitative study was conducted using an abductive approach, combining inductive thematic analysis with a deductively applied theoretical framework. Semi-structured interviews were carried out with nine families of children with ID in southern Portugal. The children ranged in age from 4 to 15 years, and the parents were aged between 29 and 53 years. The data was analyzed using Bardin's content analysis, supported by NVivo software, and organized according to the FSC framework. This study followed COREQ guidelines. Results: The families described a range of self-care strategies, including environmental adaptations, experiential learning, emotional regulation, and long-term planning. These practices were shaped by contextual factors such as access to healthcare, relationships with professionals, emotional support networks, and socioeconomic conditions. Four emergent conclusions illustrate how structural and relational dynamics influence FSC in daily caregiving. Conclusions: FSC is a dynamic, multidimensional process shaped by lived experience, family interactions, and systemic support. The findings support inclusive, family-centered care models and inform clinical practice, training, and policy in pediatric IDs.

Introduction: Bouveret’s syndrome is a rare entity, accounting for 1–3% of gallstone ileus cases. It is more common in elderly females and is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. It presents with epigastric pain, nausea, and vomiting in patients with concurrent cholelithiasis. Given the nonspecific symptoms, the diagnosis is supported with imaging highlighting Rigler’s triad. The therapeutic approach can be either endoscopic or surgical. Case Series: The authors present two cases of Bouveret’s syndrome, managed with two different approaches. The first case is an 82-year-old man presenting with diffuse abdominal pain and distension, nausea, and vomiting. Blood tests showed increased inflammatory parameters and an abdominal computed tomography (CT) scan compatible with Bouveret’s syndrome. Upper gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy revealed a fistula at D2 level, and an obstruction at D3, caused by a 3 cm gallstone. The patient underwent laser and mechanical lithotripsy for gallstone removal. The second case is a 71-year-old woman presenting with vomiting associated with dehydration and abdominal pain for several days. Blood tests showed increased inflammatory parameters and CT scan showed a bilioduodenal fistula at D2 level, with a 5 cm a gallstone at that level, confirmed in the endoscopy. An attempt to remove the gallstone was performed, without success, so the patient underwent laparotomy with extraction of the gallstone via an anterior gastrotomy. Conclusion: Bouveret’s syndrome is a rare disease that requires thoughtful and tailored management. Given this rarity, there is minimal data to support specific therapy recommendations. Therefore, management should be tailored to the patient at the discretion of the multidisciplinary team and the resources of the institution.

O direito constrói vínculos efêmeros do futuro.

The objective of this work was to estimate the crop evapotranspiration (ETc) for irrigated common bean, soybean, and maize, using the Surface Energy Balance Algorithms for Land (SEBAL), through UAV and satellite (Landsat 8) images. The experiment was carried out under field conditions, with common bean, soybean, and maize crops, at the experimental station of the IFGoiano, which is in the Cerrado biome, southwestern state of Goiás, Brazil. The study was conducted using images obtained from the satellite Landsat 8 during the crop cycles. The Landsat 8 and DEM images have been taken as input data for the Surface Energy Balance Algorithms for Land (SEBAL). The mapping of the area with the UAV was conducted on the same day of the passage of the satellite for comparison of ETc values obtained by both approaches. The production potential of common bean, soybean, maize crops based on NDVI can be considered high. Keywords: Phaseolus vulgaris L., Glycine max L., Zea mays L., satellite.
