This study aimed to clarify the effects of dementia care mapping (DCM) for one year in a healthcare center for older adults. DCM was conducted between September 2016 and August 2017. The care staff include nurses and caregivers in a narrow sense, medical staff, such as a physician, physical therapists, and occupational therapists worked on DCM as care staff in this study. There were 24 participants, with an average work experience of 7.21 (±4.74) years. In comparison to the baseline evaluation, the final assessment of self-efficacy through person-centred care showed significant improvement in 'Forecasting and Problem Solving on the Job' within 'Perceived Job Competence of Care Workers'. Six main categories of content were extracted from focus group interviews: 'Awareness,' 'Change of Elderly People under the Care of Staff throughout the Development of Mapping', 'Affirmative Feelings of Care Staff for Mapping', 'Negative Feelings for Mapping', 'Need for the Efficacy and Efficiency of the Mapping', and 'Mapping Based on the Age of the Participant and Future Prospects for Mapping'. The results of person-centred care showed that both the older patients and the staff noticed changes through the development of mapping. The developmental evaluation, based on collaboration by medical and welfare staff can improve self-efficacy through the practice of person-centred care and improves the ability to solve problems during the provision of care.

Introduction: Currently, there are several types of devices and techniques for the rehabilitation of the tibiotarsal joint. However, complete and effective rehabilitation still falls short of expectations, since the existing devices are not adaptable to the level of torque and the number of repetitions and sessions to be performed, as these depend on each patient and on the stage at which he is finds. Objetives: To improve a mechatronic device for the rehabilitation of the tibiotarsal joint, the Therapheet. Methods: This study presents a review of the tibiotarsal joint rehabilitation protocols, as well as the classification of devices used for this purpose. Thus, the purpose is to improve the Therapheet, developed at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Minho, obtaining a viable, functional and safe rehabilitation device, standing out from the rest on the market, since it allows the execution of the six rehabilitation exercises. Results: It was obtained a prototype of equipment for rehabilitation of the tibiotarsal joint was obtained, proposing changes for improvement according to the specificities and requirements for such a device, having been subjected to a series of preliminary
\ntests to verify its functionality, performance and suitability. The equipment proved to be functional, in terms of executing the ankle rehabilitation movements, however, it still manifests some flaws in terms of the user's stability, sudden movements, and above all dysfunctions arising from excess mass that make up its structure and limitations pneumatic technology adopted. Conclusions: The control of the amplitude of the characteristic angles of the movements of the foot is still done manually, so it would be significant to implement an automated system that would allow the control of the range of amplitude, according to the patient's rehabilitation phase. One option would be the implementation of a new technology, such as the insertion of servomotors.

Skeletons of branching processes are defined as trees of lineages characterized by an appropriate signature of future reproduction success. In the supercritical case a natural choice is to look for the lineages that survive forever (O'Connell (1993)). In the critical case it was suggested that the particles with the total number of descendants exceeding a certain threshold could be distinguished (see Sagitov (1997)). These two definitions lead to asymptotic representations of the skeletons as either pure birth process (in the slightly supercritical case) or critical birth-death processes (in the critical case conditioned on the total number of particles exceeding a high threshold value). The limit skeletons reveal typical survival scenarios for the underlying branching processes. In this paper we consider near-critical Bienaymé-Galton-Watson processes and define their skeletons using marking of particles. If marking is rare, such skeletons are approximated by birth and death processes, which can be subcritical, critical, or supercritical. We obtain the limit skeleton for a sequential mutation model (Sagitov and Serra (2009)) and compute the density distribution function for the time to escape from extinction.

The aim of this paper was to obtain a new model for the bending-stretching of an anisotropic heterogeneous linearly piezoelectric cantilever rod when the electric potential is applied on the both ends. The process is assumed to be static, and the piezoelectric material is monoclinic of class 2. To derive the model, we start with the corresponding three-dimensional problem, introduce a change of variable together with a scaling of the unknowns and then we use a passage to the limit procedure, based on arguments of asymptotic analysis taking the diameter of the cross-section as small parameter. Finally, we prove a result of strong convergence that justifies both the method and the one-dimensional model obtained. One of the most relevant features of this one-dimensional model is that the stretching is coupled with the electric potential, while the bendings are not.

During the War of the Spanish Succession (1702–13), there were attempts to support colonial maritime war by legislation, and the American Act of 1708 can be seen as their culmination. Historians who study privateering or colonial history have referred to this act in several contexts, such as reform in prize administration, naval impressment in American colonies, and Spanish‐American trade. However, the political and economic interests behind this act have not been fully investigated. By examining the process of the enactment of the American Act together with antecedent attempts to promote colonial maritime war in parliament, this article reveals the political and vested interests involved in the act, the relations between them, and the influence they had on the content of the act. This analysis will show the complex interaction between politics, trade, and colonial maritime war in the early‐18th‐century American colonies.
