Industrial multiphase reactors remain among the most challenging systems to model due to their complexity, multiscale coupling, and persistent uncertainties in turbulence, interphase transport, and constitutive closures. While traditional approaches combining first-principles physics, empirical correlations, and numerical pra have enabled substantial progress, fundamental limitations persist. This perspective outlines how advances in artificial intelligence (AI), high-performance computing, and, eventually, quantum computing (QC) can steer multiphase modeling toward industry-ready predictive capability with an accuracy unthinkable today. AI enables more generalizable, physics-constrained closures, while graphics processing units (GPUs) and exascale platforms already enable industry-scale simulations at unprecedented fidelity. Although QC is a longer-term prospect, hybrid quantum–classical approaches offer pathways to address complexities beyond classical limits. These developments promise to transform modeling workflows and engineering practice, with direct implications for scale-up, reliability, sustainability, and cost reduction. We highlight key research priorities, including multiphase-aware turbulence models, AI-assisted closures, hybrid solvers, computing architectures, and rigorous verification, validation, and uncertainty quantification. • Key gaps remain in multiscale coupling, e.g., turbulence, interphase transfer. • AI-physics hybrids facilitate transferable closures, e.g., drag, stress, and turbulence. • Exascale architectures bring plant-scale, high-fidelity multiphase CFD within reach. • Quantum computing promises breakthroughs, pending hardware and algorithm advances. • Faster, easier tools risk misuse — domain expertise and VVUQ remain non-negotiable.

Abstract Background Staphylococcus aureus is a gram-positive bacterium that is estimated to colonize up to 30% of the human population. S. aureus is also the most common pathogen isolated from skin and soft tissue infections (SSTI). There are numerous strains of S. aureus, including methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and methicillin susceptible Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA). Community-acquired MRSA (CA-MRSA) has been identified to be highly aggressive in causing SSTI. African Americans and children have been identified as the two groups disproportionately affected by CA-MRSA infections. Recurrence of S. aureus SSTI can be seen in 1 in 6 individuals. Methods A retrospective study that uses electronic health records from a network of pediatric emergency departments in the Atlanta area from 2002-2019. The study population included pediatric patients (< 19) who were identified to have positive S. aureus SSTI. Individual patient level variables associated with sociodemographic characteristics were collected including race, ethnicity, gender, and health insurance. Analyses were performed and stratified by those with single versus recurrent SSTI. Chi-squared tests were used to detect differences between patients with recurrent SSTI from non-recurrent SSTI. We will be applying multi-level analysis using individual patient level data from EHR linked to area level data based on patients’ place of residence at the time of infection and linked to U.S. Census data.Figure 2Number of recurrent SSTI patients by year Results There was a total of 11,489 SSTI from 11,261 patients between the years 2002-2019. 11,057 of these patients were single episode SSTI. The results showed that patients on public health insurance are at significantly more risk for SSTI than those on private health insurance. Patients on public insurance accounted for over 55% of the study population. The results also show that MRSA caused the majority of infections, both recurrent and non-recurrent, infecting over 60% patients. Conclusion There are numerous sociodemographic characteristics that affect one’s susceptibility to S. aureus SSTI, including age, gender, and health insurance. Our findings show that SSTI are more commonly associated with MRSA over MSSA and recurrence risk was lower than what has been previously reported. Abstract This study evaluates the combined analysis of a two-tier test and Rasch analysis on learning assessment. A quantitative exploratory design was conducted on the validated 10-item Particulate Nature of Gas Concept Test (PNGCT) to assess learning among Grade 11 learners ( n = 235) and Rasch model analysis. Rasch’s analysis revealed that all items fit well within the model, and learners’ performance, expressed as a mean percentage, followed approximately a normal distribution based on cognitive levels: understand (26 %), apply (52 %), and analyze (22 %). Conception analysis showed a complete understanding of some easy items at the understand and apply levels. However, items at the analyze level were difficult and alternative conceptions were detected. Conceptual Understanding Test (CUT) Evaluation model emerged from synthesizing the analysis of the PNGCT. The combined Rasch analysis and two-tier test provided a deeper insight into student conception and performance. This assessment strategy has a potential utility in other programs and fields of study beyond chemistry.

This article explains the procedure, content, and impact of a unique intergenerational exchange: the service-learning component of a capstone writing course focused on the complex genre of memoir. The investigation of memoir writing was conducted both theoretically and experientially as undergraduate writers worked in pairs to "ghost write" the memoirs of a fascinating group of senior citizens. This exploration of memoir—and of age as a frequently overlooked dimension of diversity—proved a powerful nexus for demonstrating the long-held belief that carefully-structured, community-based pedagogy significantly benefits its participants both affectively and academically.

Provider-based leadership is essential in early intervention (EI) and early childhood special education (ECSE), where providers play a pivotal role in supporting children with disabilities and their families through collaboration and evidence-based practices. This study explores the experiences and perceptions of 30 EI/ECSE providers, examining leadership characteristics; informal expressions of leadership through mentoring, coaching, and collaboration; and the systemic barriers and supports shaping leadership opportunities. Findings reveal the critical importance of interpersonal skills and content knowledge in fostering leadership and emphasize leadership’s organic, adaptive nature in this context. However, systemic challenges, such as time constraints and undervaluation of the profession, hinder leadership development. The study highlights disparities in leadership accessibility and the need for collaborative frameworks to address these barriers. These findings inform actionable strategies to strengthen leadership capacity, enhance systemic support, and advance equity in leadership opportunities within EI/ECSE.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and ensuing lockdown for most of the world beginning in March 2020, Work from Home (WFH) became the new normal. As we emerge from the pandemic, WFH and hybrid work continue at different levels in many organizations. Researchers have been noticing trends in the workplace that may be a residual impact from the work from home (WFH) model, including higher turnover rate, burnout, emotional mismanagement, busyness, workplace fatigue, and multitasking. As a result, it is important to examine the different organizational structures, processes, procedures, team functions, and individual roles that developed with telework and hybrid to see how they influenced leaders who now say they need more coaching, training, and mentoring to rebuild a psychologically safe workspace. We used a mixed methods approach to interview leaders of over 50 organizations in the USA and France to find which elements became part of the organizational climate, their hidden costs or benefits, and how they are shaping the future organizational culture. This PDW will review our initial findings, and work with the participants to learn what happened in other organizations, and how to help all our organizational clients move forward to create and maintain workplaces that are both healthy and productive as we put the worker front and center.

Abstract The work of both Lawlor and Bell was invaluable as I tried to join together the two main lines of argumentation in Experience and Empiricism: one concerning the development of the philosophical problematic in which Deleuze worked during his earliest years as a professional philosopher; the other arguing for the distinctive relevance of Hume's philosophy, as read by Deleuze, for advancing a novel philosophical claim in the midst of that problematic. If I was successful in making these arguments, then I hope to have reconstituted the important—but obscured—philosophical debate between immanent and transcendent accounts of human experience and existence and to have made clear the way that Deleuze's earliest philosophical work on Hume was a novel intervention in that debate. And, finally, I hope to have shown that Deleuze's repetition of Hume's empiricism amidst the rapidly shifting problematics of postwar French philosophy is an indispensable and unavoidable moment in the development of his distinctive philosophical trajectory.
