Based on the psychological stress caused by theCovid 19 pandemic in families, this article explores the fundamental question of how the psychological process of mentalizing - metaphorically speaking - can act as a psychosocial vaccination in stressful times. To this end, we look at the developments in the psychosocial context under the conditions of the pandemic and consider the effects on child and adolescent psychotherapy on the basis of a vignette of a group therapy session.

Working with child protection cases is particularly characterised by the need for a successful professional relationship. Childhood maltreatment, which the children and adolescents experience (sometimes chronically), can contribute to mentalization impairments and epistemic mistrust, which can show up in the encounter in the fact that it is difficult for them to build a working alliance. Based on an explorative interview with a female expert, this article investigates the significance of mentalization processes in the work with child protection cases. The results show that the significance of mentalizing can be classified on the levels of affectivity, cognition and actionality and that the processes represent work on the horizontal dimension of the unconscious. The results also make clear that the already problematised conceptual discrimination between mentalization-based and psychoanalytic pedagogy is reproduced. This leads to a desideratum on the question of boundary and overlap in theory and practice.

Bis zu 19.000 Menschen erkranken in Deutschland jedes Jahr neu an einem Tumor der Bauchspeicheldrüse. Bei über 95% der Tumoren handelt es sich um ein Adenokarzinom – die aggressivste Erkrankungsform mit der höchsten krebsspezifischen Mortalität. Die 5-Jahres-Überlebensraten stagnieren seit Jahren auf niedrigem Niveau um ca. 10%. Die meist späte Diagnosestellung beeinflusst das Outcome zusätzlich negativ.
