Efficacy of individualised homoeopathic medicines as an adjunct to conventional iron and folic-acid supplementation in iron deficiency anaemia among reproductive-aged women: Single-blind, randomised, placebo-controlled trial
Background: Iron deficiency anaemia (IDA) is a major public health concern affecting women of reproductive age globally. If left untreated, it can cause various health issues including fatigue, shortness of breath, abnormal heart rhythms, chest pain, and complications during pregnancy. Objectives: To evaluate the efficacy of individualised homoeopathic medicines (IHMs) with iron and folic acid supplement (IFS) in treatment of iron deficiency among reproductive-aged women, in comparison with placebos with IFS. Methods: Single-blind, randomised, placebo-controlled clinical trial was conducted over total six months at the outpatient-department, of which participants received interventions and outcome assessments for three months. Reproductive women (15–49 years) with IDA were included based on haemoglobin (Hb) level ≤ 11.9 mg/dl to ≥ 7.1 mg/dl with serum ferritin <15 >μ g/l; randomised to receive either IHMs with IFS (IHMs-IFS, n = 30) or identical-looking placebos with IFS (placebo-IFS, n = 30) for 3 months. The outcomes included haemoglobin, Mean Corpuscular Volume (MCV), Mean Corpuscular Haemoglobin (MCH), serum ferritin (SF) levels measured at baseline and after three-months of intervention. Results: Of 110 screened participants, 60 were included after their consent and intervened; entered into intention-to-treat analysis. Inter-group differences shown Hb, MCV, SF values were statistically significant with medium effect size. Intra-group differences showed in Hb (IHMs-IFS: p < 0.001; placebos-IFS: p < 0.01), MCV (IHMs-IFS: p < 0.001; placebos-IFS: p < 0.01), MCH (IHMs-IFS: p < 0.001, placebos-IFS: p < 0.01), SF (IHMs-IFS: p < 0.001; placebos-IFS: p < 0.001) significant increases in both groups. Conclusion: Significant improvement was observed, within and between the groups. However, the magnitude of improvement was slightly greater in IHMs-IFS group compared with placebo-IFS group, indicated by larger mean changes and medium effect sizes, favouring the adjunct benefits of IHMs in management of IDA among reproductive-age women. Multi-centric, double-blinded, large-sampled studies are warranted to confirm these findings.

Read moreConstipation, Disturbed Behaviour, and the Role of Homoeopathy: Emerging Perspectives on Dairy, Childhood Obesity, and Mobile Phone Addiction
Background: Constipation in the pediatric population is a functional disorder frequently linked to behavioral disturbances such as irritability, poor concentration, and anxiety. Emerging clinical trends suggest a strong correlation between bovine milk consumption, childhood obesity, and digital addiction. Objective: To explore the interconnectedness of dietary factors (dairy), sedentary lifestyle (mobile addiction), and behavioral symptoms through the lens of individualized Homoeopathy. Methods: A review of clinical observations and Materia Medica was conducted to identify remedies addressing both physical and psychological manifestations. Results: Clinical practice indicates that the cessation of milk and milk-based sweets significantly improves bowel function and behavior. Homoeopathic interventions including Tuberculinum, Natrum carbonicum, and Lac defloratum show promise in managing these multi-factorial pediatric issues. Conclusion: Homoeopathy offers a holistic alternative to conventional management by addressing the root constitutional causes of lifestyle-induced pediatric disorders.

Background: Essential Hypertension is one of the major causes of morbidity and mortality. However, treatment and control of essential hypertension remain major challenges worldwide. Homoeopathy is said to be effective in essential hypertension. A homoeopathic drug, Rauwolfia serpentina is said to be effective against essential hypertension. This study was undertaken to determine the efficacy of Rauwolfia serpentina in Essential hypertension in National Institute of Homoeopathy, Kolkata. Methods: A randomized, double blind, placebo-controlled, and parallel design was adopted for the study. The study included 30 patients, age between second to eight decade, of both sexes and religions, represented with signs and symptoms of Essential hypertension, and characteristics of Rauwolfia serpentina. The potency used was 6 CH. The outcome measures were assessed by different attributes. Results: The highest prevalence of essential hypertension was seen in 33-80 years of age and in lower middle class population. Hindu male subjects showed a higher frequency among all. The chi-square test revealed that Rauwolfia serpentina 6CH is more efficacious in essential hypertension than placebo at the 5% significance level. Those who suffered for less than 2 years showed more improvement. A retrospective study of subjects who exhibited positive effects reconfirmed the characteristic symptoms of Rauwolfia serpentina in Essential hypertension. Conclusion: Rauwolfia serpentina in 6 CH potency possessed positive effect against Essential hypertension significant reduction of hypertension in that study population, who presented with symptoms and signs of hypertension, as well as characteristics of Rauwolfia serpentina.

Background: Haemorrhoids are one of the most common anorectal disorders, presenting with symptoms such as bleeding, pain, prolapse, itching and soiling, which significantly affect the quality of life and clinical presentation may vary according to its types and degrees. Haemorrhoidectomy remains the mainstay of treatment for advanced cases; however, it is frequently associated with complications, prolonged recovery and high recurrence rate. Whereas homoeopathy emphasizes an individualised approach based on the totality of symptoms and underlying miasmatic influences. The concept of miasms provides a deeper understanding of the chronic predispositions and disease tendencies in patients, thereby aiding in the selection of a constitutional remedy for long-term relief. Objective: To understand the miasmatic aspect and its utility in homeopathic management of cases with haemorrhoids. Materials & Methodology: A prospective clinical study was conducted on 40 patients over a period of nine months. Cases were selected using predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria, and detailed case-taking with miasmatic evaluation was carried out as per homoeopathic principles, outcomes were assessed using the Haemorrhoid Severity Score (HSS). Result: Out of 40 cases studied, 26 patients (65%) showed significant improvement, 10 patients (25%) demonstrated moderate improvement and 4 patients (10%) had only mild improvement, while no case remained unimproved, majority of patients thus experienced significant relief. Statistical analysis revealed that the calculated t-value exceeded the tabulated t-value at p = 0.05 (df = 39), indicating a statistically significant difference between pre-treatment and post- treatment scores. This finding substantiates the clinical utility of miasmatic understanding to select individualised homoeopathic medicines in the effective management of haemorrhoids. Conclusion: Findings of this clinical prospective study demonstrate that individualised homoeopathic medicines, prescribed on the basis of totality of symptoms and miasmatic background, were effective in the management of haemorrhoids. A significant improvement was observed in 65% of cases, highlighting the value of miasmatic understanding in guiding remedy selection and achieving sustained relief. A case of psoriasis treated with magnesium carbonicum through classical approach: A case report
Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory, hyperproliferative skin disease. It is characterized by well-defined, erythematous scaly plaques, particularly affecting extensor surfaces, scalp and nails, and usually follows a relapsing and remitting course. Individualized homoeopathic treatment for skin aims for holistic classical approach treating the individual as whole not only skin lesion. This article explores the individualized homoeopathic treatment of psoriasis. Case summary: A 42-year-old male presented with a 11-year history of psoriasis (dryness with cracks on skin itching with pain bleeding when scratches), allergic rhinitis for 10 years. Prominent mental-emotional features included hypersensitivity to discord, fight between family members, suppressed anger, Intervention: Based on repertorial analysis and remedy differentiation Maganesium carbonicum 200C was prescribed. Outcome: Over a follow-up period of 12 months, the patient exhibited marked improvement in dryness, scaling, bleeding, emotional symptoms and rhinitis. Conclusion: This case signify the importance of individualized homoeopathic prescribing and illustrates the role of Magnesium carbonicum in chronic cases characterized by characteristic feeling of separation and suppressed emotional states.
Read moreDesign and in silico characterization of a novel chimeric P53-SOG1 fusion protein for enhanced dna damage response and tumor suppression.
The tumor suppressor p53 plays an essential role in preserving genomic stability through DNA damage response (DDR) and apoptosis in mammalian systems. By comparison, the transcription factor SOG1 (SUPPRESSOR OF GAMMA RESPONSE 1) is the main regulator of DDR in plants but has similar mechanisms to those occupied by p53 in humans. In this current study, we have designed and through computational characterization of a novel chimeric fusion protein composed of human p53 and the NAC domain of SOG1 from Arabidopsis thaliana, which was meant to increase the efficacy of DDR and apoptosis signaling. The fusion protein, a total of 336 amino acids and a molecular weight of 37.6kDa, was modeled through protein-protein docking approaches with ClusPro and HDOCK, followed by molecular dynamics (MD) simulations of 100ns to measure its stability, flexibility, and potential interactions with protein partners. The hybrid protein showed a favorable binding free energy with important regulatory partners MDM2 and BRCA1 (BRCT domain), and docked favorably with DNA (PDB ID: 1TUP), demonstrating that DNA-binding capability remained intact. This study proposes a new strategy for treating cancer and also expands the medicinal use of this study by describing, for the first time, the direct fusion of plant and animal protein, providing a new avenue for cross-kingdom therapeutic protein engineering.

Homeopathy is used by some veterinary practitioners as a complementary approach for treatment and prophylaxis in a range of animal species. The clinical evidence base is contested and heterogeneous. This systematic review synthesizes randomized and non-randomized clinical trials, systematic reviews and key policy statements assessing the clinical use, efficacy, safety, welfare implications, and regulatory context of veterinary homeopathy. Methods: A systematic search and synthesis were performed across published systematic reviews, randomized controlled trials (RCTs), controlled clinical trials (CCTs), and institutional position statements concerning homeopathy in animals. Data were extracted on species, indication, study design, risk of bias, outcomes, and main conclusions. Evidence quality and clinical implications were evaluated. High-quality systematic reviews found a limited number of RCTs with heterogeneous quality and endpoints; meta-analysis suggests only very limited evidence of effects beyond placebo in animals, with small, low-quality trials responsible for most positive findings. A small number of trials reported outcomes favoring homeopathy for specific indications like prophylaxis of post-weaning diarrhea in pigs and some mastitis studies, but methodological limitations and risk of bias substantially limit confidence. Broad reviews of complementary and alternative veterinary medicine and evidence syntheses similarly conclude that clear, reproducible evidence for routine clinical effectiveness is lacking. Institutional position statements (RCVS, BVA, AVMA) emphasize evidence-based use and caution where animal welfare could be compromised. Current clinical evidence does not provide robust support for routine substitution of conventional proven therapies with homeopathy in veterinary medicine. Homeopathy may be considered as a complementary option where used alongside conventional treatment, provided informed consent, rigorous monitoring, and safeguards for animal welfare. High-quality, adequately powered randomized trials with transparent reporting are needed for firmer conclusions.
