A Preliminary Study on Product Design of Emotional Appeal by Canonical Correlation Analysis of Public Attitudes towards Water-Saving Equipment Based on ABC Model
This study aims to explore the attitudes of the public toward water-saving equipment. We also explore the impact of affect factor, behavior factor, and cognition factor on the acceptance of the public toward water-saving equipment. We conduct a questionnaire based on the psychology theory, the ABC (Affect, Behavior, and Cognition) model, to investigate the attitudes of the public while using three types of water-saving faucets. The results show that the acceptance of the public toward using water-saving faucets is mainly influenced by affect factor. According to the results, this study suggests that in the implementation of water-saving activities, for design of water-saving equipment the affect appeal should be given priority, and induce people to use water-saving equipment for achieving water-saving purposes through the product design of water-saving equipment with affect appeal.
Read moreSustainable Supplier Selection Process in Edible Oil Production by a Hybrid Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process and Green Data Envelopment Analysis for the SMEs Food Processing Industry
Today, business organizations are facing increasing pressure from a variety of sources to operate using sustainable processes. Thus, most companies need to focus on their supply chains to enhance sustainability to meet customer demands and comply with environmental legislation. To achieve these goals, companies must focus on criteria that include CO2 (carbon footprint) and toxic emissions, energy use and efficiency, wastage generations, and worker health and safety. As in other industries, the food processing industry requires large inputs of resources, which results in several negative environmental effects; thus, decision-makers have to evaluate qualitative and quantitative factors. This work identifies the best supplier for edible oil production in the small and medium enterprise (SME) food processing industry in Vietnam. This study also processes a hybrid multicriteria decision-making (MCDM) model using a fuzzy analytical hierarchy process (FAHP) and green data envelopment analysis (GDEA) model to identify the weight of all criteria of a supplier’s selection process based on opinions from company procurement experts. Subsequently, GDEA is applied to rank all potential supplier lists. The primary objective of this work is to present a novel approach which integrates FAHP and DEA for supplier selection and also consider the green issue in edible oil production in uncertain environments. The aim of this research is also to provide a useful guideline for supplier selection based on qualitative and quantitative factors to improve the efficiency of supplier selection in the food industry and other industries. The results reveal that Decision-Making Unit 1 (DMU 1), DMU 3, DMU 7, and DMU 9 are identified as extremely efficient for five DEA models, which are the optimal suppliers for edible oil production. The contributions of this research include a proposed MCDM model using a hybrid FAHP and GDEA model for supplier selection in the SME food processing industry under a fuzzy environment conditions in Vietnam. This research also is part of an evolution of a new hybrid model that is flexible and practical for decision-makers. In addition, the research also provides a useful guideline in supplier selection in the food processing industry and a guideline for supplier selection in other industries.
Read moreAnalysis of the Learning Effectiveness of the STEAM-6E Special Course—A Case Study about the Creative Design of IoT Assistant Devices for the Elderly
This study developed a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math)-6E (Engage, Explore, Explain, Extend, Enrich, Evaluate; 6E Learning by Design) special course based on the theme of creative design of IoT (Internet of Things) assistant devices for the elderly and investigated the impact of this course on students’ learning effectiveness. It invited eight experts and scholars for focus interviews, jointly developed the STEAM-6E special course, designed teaching activities around the theme of creative design of IoT assistant devices for the elderly, and created a learning effectiveness scale. Furthermore, it selected 46 students majoring in nursing in a vocational and technological college as its subjects and distributed copies of a questionnaire among them to explore learning effectiveness. This study reached the following conclusions. The STEAM-6E special course on the creative design of IoT assistant devices for the elderly included three dimensions, that is, the STEAM course, 6E teaching, and the acquisition of professional knowledge, as well as 17 competence indicators. The nursing students affirmed the learning outcome in the STEAM-6E course, the 6E teaching model, and thematic knowledge after attending the STEAM-6E course. The hands-on activities of the STEAM-6E special course could guide students to learn key points step by step. The STEAM-6E special course can strengthen students’ abilities to integrate STEAM knowledge and improve their learning effectiveness in each discipline. The STEAM-6E special course for the elderly improved the cooperative learning, professional knowledge, and confidence of the students. In light of these conclusions, this study developed a teaching model for the STEAM-6E special course on the creative design of IoT assistant devices for the elderly and proposed several suggestions for curriculum planning and the implementation of a STEAM-6E special course.
Read moreThe Effect of Heat Treatment on the Sensitized Corrosion of the 5383-H116 Al-Mg Alloy
In this study, the effects of heat treatment and sensitized corrosion on the 5383-H116 Al-Mg alloy were investigated for temperatures ranging from 100 to 450 °C. The results show that the heat treatment temperature is the main factor that causes changes to the microstructure and mechanical strength of the 5383-H116 Al-Mg alloy, inducing β-phase (Al3Mg2) precipitation in the form of a continuous layer along the grain boundaries. Intergranular corrosion was caused by the β-phase of the grain boundary precipitation, and the corrosion susceptibility of the recrystallized structure was significantly higher than the corrosion susceptibility of the recovered structure. According to the conductivity values detected, β-phase precipitation can enhance the 5383-H116 Al-Mg alloy conductivity, with the response due to structural dislocation density being higher than that due to the recrystallized structure. As such, the β-phase precipitation after sensitization is more significant than the β-phase precipitation prior to the sensitization, such that after sensitization, the conductivity rises to a significantly higher level than that exhibited by the recrystallization structure.
Read moreThe Role of Customer Involvement in Mediating the Relationship Between Brand Equity and Customer Loyalty
The prior research indicated there were significant relationship between customer involvement, brand equity, and customer loyalty. The purpose for the study was to find out how customer involvement mediates the relationship between brand equity and customer loyalty. The participants for this research were selected as the consumers having the shopping experience for smart phone in Taiwan, resulting in 182 individual surveys for this research. The results supported hypothesis and revealed brand equity and customer involvement had significant and positive relationship with customer loyalty, while customer involvement has partial indirect effect on customer loyalty in path analysis. Finally, this research generated the suggestions for business strategies and suggested future scholar studies.

Ferromagnetic core with high permeability composed with strength winding in short circuit current
This paper presents high permeability ferromagnetic-cored distribution transformer with capacity of 1MVA, including amorphous HB1, SA1 core and silicon steel core. This paper also outlines experimental results effects of the magnetic properties of magnetostriction on ferromagnetic cores in order to compare with the simulated model for each magnetic core by FEA results, is analyzed. An approach is proposed for obtaining a definite, quantified relationship between the defined magnetostrictive characteristics of the core with different ferromagnetic materials to achieve a lower magnetic core loss, noise level and SCC characteristics are analyzed.
