Steels remain among the most widely used structural and engineering materials in modern infrastructure, energy systems, and industrial facilities. Their long-term reliability depends critically on the early detection of corrosion damage and microstructural degradation. This review surveys recent advances in two complementary families of non-destructive evaluation (NDE) methods: magnetic techniques, including magnetic Barkhausen noise (MBN), magnetic flux leakage (MFL), eddy current testing (ECT), and magnetic hysteresis analysis; and electrochemical methods including electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), linear polarization resistance (LPR), scanning vibrating electrode technique (SVET), and electrochemical noise (EN). Recent progress in sensor miniaturization, signal processing algorithms, and multi-technique integration is reviewed. Particular attention is given to the sensitivity of these methods to microstructural changes reported in the literature, including carbide dissolution, phase transformations, temper embrittlement, and sensitization in stainless steels, as well as to the conditions under which such sensitivity has been demonstrated. The potential synergy between magnetic and electrochemical monitoring is discussed as a possible pathway toward more robust, condition-based maintenance frameworks. Challenges related to field deployment, environmental interference, calibration, and data interpretation are identified, and future directions—including machine learning-assisted analysis and multi-physics sensor arrays—are outlined.

This paper consolidates the structural development of the Dodecahedron Linear String Field Hypothesis (DLSFH) into a minimal and internally complete framework. The admissible internal operator class is defined as the finite-dimensional A 5-equivariant self-adjoint algebra End A5 (H V). An invariant quartic variational functional selects a nontrivial stationary operator O V = µP , where P is a central projector onto a maximal isotypic component. The stationary solution is determined up to overall sign and, when the maximal rank is unique, is unique up to overall scale. The nonzero spectral magnitude exhibits rigidity, with eigenvalues fixed by the algebraic relation µ 2 = −α/(2β). The internal algebra generated by O V is shown to be two-dimensional, A int = span{Id, O V }, and closed under multiplication. Equivariance, algebra closure, and compatibility with the lifted Dirac structure jointly imply a classified coupling form C = A 0 ⊗ Id + A 1 ⊗ O V , eliminating independent portal freedom. Within the declared perturbative regime and at one-loop order, radiative corrections generate only polynomial functions of O V , which collapse back into A int. The internal operator direction and its admissible coupling structure are therefore radiatively stable within the minimal framework. An explicit internal reduction yields the low-energy effective external theory, whose interaction coefficients are determined solely by the spectral scale µ and projector rank. Parameter transparency, gravitational compatibility scope, and falsifiability conditions are stated explicitly. The resulting structure is algebraically constrained rather than phenomenologically arranged, completing the minimal DLSFH architecture.

We propose Coherence Cosmology, a new theoretical framework in which cosmic time, causality, and curvature emerge from the evolution of physically real coherence surfaces, rather than from coordinate-based hypersurfaces. Using a coherence functional C(x µ , y µ) to define persistent phase linkage between field states, we construct a new concept of coherence time tcoh , replacing arbitrary simultaneity with operational coherence-layer structure. The Friedmann expansion law is reformulated in terms of coherence time, and a coherence-sourced curvature correction tensor δC µν is introduced to modify the Einstein field equations dynamically. This approach reinterprets inflation as a primordial coherence burst and dark energy as a large-scale coherence decay effect across the Dodecahedron Linear String Field Hypothesis (DLSFH) lattice, mediated through a Superluminal Graviton Condensate Vacuum (SGCV). Observational consequences include gravitational wave phase decoherence, fast radio burst microstructure jitter, pulsar timing anisotropies, and CMB small-angle phase drift. Coherence Cosmology provides a testable and falsifiable path to unify temporal structure, geometric emergence, and quantum gravity through Infinity Algebra and lattice-embedded coherence networks.

Abstract. Dust particles originating from desert areas of the planet have significant radiative impacts on the ground and atmospheric column, changing the energy distribution of the entire earth system, which cannot be underestimated, as dust is considered a climatic regulator. The magnitude of the dust radiative effect is dependent on the optical properties of desert dust aerosols, which in turn is regulated by the composition and mineralogical content of desert dust plumes. The mineralogical composition in atmospheric models is commonly related to the soil type at dust sources and the optical properties needed are provided by observational campaigns and dedicated measurements. In this work we upgrade the METAL-WRF model to incorporate the direct radiative impact of the minerals in dust and test the impact of the direct radiative feedback on a 2-month simulation period, namely March and April 2022, when consecutive intense dust outbursts affected the Mediterranean Basin. The simulation results were compared against Global Horizontal Irradiance data and AERONET optical properties that were measured at five sites. An improvement was observed in all sites, especially close to the sources, when the minerals and dust are treated as interacting in the radiative transfer calculations, thus improving the capabilities of METAL-WRF to simulate the chemical composition of dust particles in the atmosphere along with their contribution to radiative transfer processes.

Aim: This study aims to analyze the associations between variables that predict the attack effectiveness of middle players (MPs) in top-level volleyball, recognizing their significant influence on the team's offence under mostly optimal conditions while considering potential gender differences. Methods: Inferential statistics, multinomial logistic regression and multiple correspondence analysis were applied to analyze 843 attacks (508 for women and 335 for men) from the six top-ranked teams in the Men and Women World Championships 2018. Results: The analysis revealed that the two genders vary in some aspects of the game at the top level. Women MPs attack mainly from the area behind the setter, even after a good pass, against a team block but with lower attack effectiveness than men MPs who use to attack mainly in front of the setter, after an accurate pass against a single block. The attack effectiveness for both genders depends highly on the setting quality. Conclusion: In female volleyball, to increase effectiveness libero player is preferable to execute the first touch of the ball and MP to avoid off-speed attacks and to upgrade the effectiveness of spikes to zone 5 of the opponent court, while in male volleyball the existence of three attackers in the front row increases the odds for a winning attack.

The present article initially examines, in a comparative way, the theoretical contributions of Ayşe Çağlar, Janine Dahinden, and Georgina Ramsay, who equally problematize the dominant Western epistemology of the refugee crisis and, in particular, its heterochronic categorization of refugee and non-refugee subjects. As we demonstrate, the inscription of refugees within temporalities distinct from those of Western citizens reinforces entrenched logics of othering and exceptionalization, thereby obstructing possibilities of interactive coexistence and socio-cultural interchange. Within this framework, we attempt to reconceptualize displacement as a unifying analytical topology that highlights the shared rhythms of dispossession, precaritization, and alienation that shape both refugee and non-refugee lives. Building on these insights, the second part of the article explores the conceptual and epistemological affinities between displacement and precarity. We argue that, when critically reworked through feminist theory and brought into dialogue with one another, these concepts provide fertile anti-essentialist frameworks for re-situating heterogeneous subjects within a shared spatio-temporal and socio-political condition. Such a perspective enables the theorization of emergent non-identitarian forms of relationality, sociality, struggle, and solidarity observed among refugee, migrant, and precaritized citizen populations in recent years, while also destabilizing the entrenched ethnocentric binary that opposes the autonomous Western citizen to the vulnerable, Orientalized refugee subject.

This paper examines personal narratives of survivors of the wreck of the Empire Patrol, a British ship that was returning 497 inhabitants of Castellorizo, a Greek island in the southeastern Aegean, to their homeland in September 1945, after they had spent two years in a refugee camp in Nuseirat, Gaza. Led by a survivor who was a child at the time of the shipwreck, several survivors memorialized the event by creating a community website, www.empirepatrol.com, in Australia, where their compatriots had already established migrant communities prewar. In this paper, I focus on the survivors’ website-based traumatic narratives and compare them to oral narratives regarding the shipwreck which I recorded while conducting multi-sited, longitudinal and collaborative ethnographic research among the Castellorizians in Australia and in Greece. I explore “orality” in the case of website narratives by examining the new context and symbolism and the performative elements involved, and the community bonds forged among contributors and visitors to the website. I also examine the impact of these digital survivors’ narratives on redefining the sense of belonging and communal identity among Australian-born Castellorizians and on rendering the World War II history of the Castellorizians part of wider public history in Australia.

The field of historical game studies (HGS) has grown significantly, yet its connection to historiography—the study of how history is constructed and interpreted—remains limited. Games are often labeled “historical” based on setting or visual details rather than their engagement with historical inquiry. This paper argues for closer dialogue between historiography and game design, calling for established historians to contribute not as consultants but as co-creators. It introduces a heuristic framework built on two intersecting tensions: individuality–generalization (from historiography) and narratology–simulation (from game studies). Through this lens, the paper explores hypothetical pairings between canonical works of history (e.g., Bloch, Zemon Davis, Ginzburg) and popular games (e.g., 80 Days, Telling Lies, Everything). These pairings illustrate how core dimensions of historical thinking—perspective, causality, continuity and change, source interpretation, and contestability—can inform game design. The analysis suggests that elements of historical practice, such as handling ambiguity or reconstructing meaning from fragmentary evidence, can be adapted into interactive systems. Yet integrating broader historiographical frameworks into games remains difficult, often constrained by the risk of oversimplification or didacticism. Rather than proposing a fixed typology, the paper offers a flexible tool for mapping connections between historical inquiry and game design. It invites further experimentation at the intersection of these fields.

The proliferation of disinformation and misinformation has become a critical issue over the past decade, with profound implications for democratic processes at both global and European levels. The European Commission and the European External Action Service (EEAS) have identified the strategic use of foreign information manipulation and disinformation (FIMI) as a direct threat to the integrity of electoral processes and democratic resilience. This chapter will examine voter behavior through the lens of foreign interference, disinformation, and information manipulation. It will explore how digital narratives, engineered by foreign and often non-democratic entities, affect electoral outcomes and undermine democratic participation. A particular focus will be placed on the nuanced vulnerabilities inherent in the European Union's unique political structure.
