The U.S. Department of Energy, Richland Operations Office (RL) conducts ecological monitoring on the Hanford Site to collect and track data needed to ensure compliance with an array of environmental laws, regulations, and policies governing RL activities. Ecological monitoring data provide baseline information about the plants, animals, and habitat under RL stewardship at the Hanford Site, which is required for accurate ecological impact assessment decision making under the National Environmental Policy Act and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act. In addition, ecological monitoring helps ensure that RL, its contractors, and other entities conducting activities on the Hanford Site are in compliance with DOE/EIS-0222-F, Final Hanford Comprehensive Land Use Plan Environmental Impact Statement. RL places priority on monitoring those plant and animal species or habitats with specific regulatory protections or requirements; or that are rare and/or declining (federal or state listed endangered, threatened, or sensitive species) or of significant interest to federal, state, or tribal governments or the public.

Due to irregular load switching, the bus voltage fluctuations in dual active bridge (DAB) converter are generated. In this work, active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) based dual-phase-shift (DPS) modulation strategy is proposed to improve the dynamic response of DAB converter and relive the current stress of the converter. Firstly, under the DPS modulation strategy, the transmission power and current stress are analyzed. The minimum current stress under each working condition and the corresponding shift combination is obtained. Then, an extended state observer (ESO) is established, and the transmission power change caused by the sudden load change and DC bus voltage are regarded as the total disturbance. In this paper, an ADRC combined with current stress optimization control is proposed, which has better operating characteristics than traditional proportion integration (PI). At last, the superiority of the control strategy is verified by experiments.

Positive screening tests require investigation, usually by specialists. Specialist services are known to be limited. The planning of screening programmes must first include a model of existing diagnostic and follow-up services of symptomatic patients so that the added impact of the extra referrals required for screening can be estimated. This is fundamental to the planning of screening programmes; inevitable diagnostic delay, impeded access to services for symptomatic patients, and resulting harm or increased mortality from disease can thus be avoided.

ABSTRACT Distinctive low diversity foraminiferal and ostracod faunas in Holocene mud from a stratigraphic drillhole through Rangitoto Volcano (∼600 years old) indicate a highly sheltered, shallow-marine environment existed near the middle of the exposed entrance to Waitemata Harbour, Auckland, for at least 7000 years prior to Rangitoto’s eruption. Modern Analogue Technique estimates for these faunas indicate they accumulated at low tidal to shallow subtidal depths (0–11 m). The most similar analogue faunas lived subtidally in the extreme shelter inside the breached Onepoto maar lagoon, Auckland. Therefore, we infer the possible existence of a pre-7500 year-old maar crater and surrounding tuff ring buried beneath Rangitoto Volcano. This Holocene mud occurs in the drillhole 24–10 m lower than where the microfaunas indicate it accumulated. It is inferred to have slid into the adjacent harbour channel, along with 7 m of basaltic tuff and a piece of lava flow, near the start of the second phase of Rangitoto’s eruption.

ABSTRACTMore than 80 Cenozoic low sulphidation Au–Ag epithermal deposits and prospects are known in Northland, the Hauraki Goldfield (Coromandel Volcanic Zone) and the Taupō Volcanic Zone of the North Island. Reconnaissance exploration since the 1970s has included magnetic surveys, and stream sediment and rock-chip geochemical surveys. Prospect-scale exploration over the same period has included rock and soil geochemical surveys, magnetic and resistivity/induced polarisation geophysical surveys and drilling, including the study of hydrothermal alteration mineralogy (by thin section and XRD) plus fluid inclusion systematics, to help reconstruct the former hydrothermal system and identify zoning related to mineralisation. Since the 1990s, digital regional exploration and research data sets have enabled GIS-based targeting of prospective areas. At the prospect scale, multi-element ICP and ICP-MS analyses, hyperspectral short wave infrared spectral analyses and portable XRF geochemical analyses of field samples and drill core have been used to complement assay data for identifying spatial trends in geochemistry and mineralogy that help vector to mineral occurrences. Exploration since the 1970s has discovered new Au and Ag resources in extensions of some previously mined deposits (e.g. Golden Cross and Karangahake) and in new deposits in adjacent areas (e.g. Favona, Trio and Correnso in the Waihi area).

De 1951 à 1965, l'expansion globale de la consommation canadienne d'énergie fut de 75%, dont 72% proviennent des hydrocarbures (gaz naturel, gaz-oils, fuels, essences) de plus en plus préférés dans un grand nombre d'usages industriels et domestiques. Un trait caractéristique est l'augmentation régulière de la consommation d'essence automobile ce qui semble découler de l'accroissement de la population et de l'augmentation du niveau de vie. L'électricité conserve la quatrième place et sa consommation augmente régulièrement, caractéristique d'une économie de type évolué. Les tendances d'évolution ne peuvent être définies avec certitude ; cependant, on peut prévoir de nouveaux débouchés industriels pour l'électricité et une augmentation constante de la consommation d'essence automobile et de gaz naturel.
