Gastronomy is a highly competitive and constantly evolving field worldwide. Some emerging countries, like Peru, have been among those that have solidly established their culinary art on the international stage over the past few decades. The creation of fusion cuisine, which merges elements from French, Italian, Spanish, Chinese and Japanese cultures, has led to a significant product offering for various markets. Our research aims to demonstrate how Hanzo, a specialized Peruvian–Japanese restaurant, has focused on value creation as the foundation for business growth. An important element about the creation and performance of this restaurant is the entrepreneurial capability of the founder. He has established an innovation culture based on original dishes and personal service. Using the case study approach, we analyzed the iterative process among the involved actors. Among Hanzo’s achievements are its recognition as one of the top Nikkei–Japanese restaurants, which enhances its market position and attracts a loyal customer base. We found relevant lessons on how to solidly unify different cultures/cuisines for creating value through fusion cuisine. Implications for management include analyzing new ways to co-create value through innovation, oriented personalization and integrating employees according to the values of strong cultures.

This article examines the institutional, technical, and ontological consequences of plagiarism detection platforms on contemporary academic writing. It argues that services like Turnitin and Grammarly do not simply detect plagiarism but actively reconfigure what counts as authorship, originality, and intellectual integrity. Drawing on historical and media-theoretical perspectives, the article traces plagiarism’s emergence as a culturally contingent offense, showing how its definition has shifted from oral cultures all the way to algorithmically processed patterns. In this transformation, plagiarism detection becomes less a neutral evaluative tool than a form of infrastructural governance that translates interpretive judgment into machinic legibility. Drawing on theorists such as Foucault, Chun, Kittler, Flusser, and Byung-Chul Han, the article situates plagiarism detection within a broader shift from expressive authorship to operational formatting. The article argues that plagiarism detection tools function as psychopolitical instruments, reshaping academic labor through anticipatory compliance and rendering originality as machinic compatibility.

Abstract Accurate pulsar astrometric estimates are essential to almost all high-precision pulsar timing experiments. Traditional pulsar timing techniques refine these estimates by including them as free parameters when fitting a model to observed pulse time-of-arrival measurements. However, reliable submilliarcsecond astrometric estimations require years of observations. Even then, power from red noise can be inadvertently absorbed into astrometric parameter fits. This effect biases the resulting estimates and reduces the sensitivity to red noise processes, including gravitational waves (GWs). In this work, we seek to mitigate these shortcomings by using pulsar astrometric estimates derived from very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) as priors for the timing fit. First, we used VLBI and timing astrometric estimates of 18 millisecond pulsars to calibrate a rotation between the reference frames used in timing and VLBI, with a precision of ∼0.7 mas. Through this frame tie, we combined timing- and VLBI-based probabilities to obtain a maximum-posterior astrometric solution. We found offsets between our results and the timing-based astrometric solutions, which, if real, would lead to the absorption of spectral power at the frequencies of interest for single-source GW searches. However, we do not find significant power absorption due to astrometric fitting at the low-frequency domain of the GW background.

Abstract Free-floating objects (FFOs) in interstellar space—rogue planets, brown dwarfs, and large asteroids that are not gravitationally bound to any star—are expected to be ubiquitous throughout the Milky Way. Recent microlensing surveys have discovered several free-floating planets that are not bound to any known stellar systems. Additionally, three interstellar objects, namely 1I/’Oumuamua, 2I/Borisov, and 3I/ATLAS, have been detected passing through our solar system on hyperbolic trajectories. In this work, we search for FFOs on hyperbolic orbits that pass near millisecond pulsars (MSPs), where their gravitational influence can induce detectable perturbations in pulse arrival times. Using the NANOGrav 15 yr narrow band dataset, which contains high-precision timing data for 68 MSPs, we conduct a search for such hyperbolic scattering events between FFOs and pulsars. Although no statistically significant events were detected, this nondetection enables us to place upper limits (ULs) on the number density of FFOs as a function of their mass within our local region of the Galaxy. For example, the UL on the number density for Jupiter-mass FFOs (∼10 −2.5 –10 −3.5 M ⊙ ) obtained from different pulsars ranges from 5.25 × 10 6 pc −3 to 5.37 × 10 9 pc −3 , while the UL calculated by combining results from all the pulsars is 6.03 × 10 5 pc −3 . These results represent the first constraints on FFO population derived from pulsar timing data.

While use of the emergent adult stage of aquatic insects as stream bioindicators has lagged well behind that of the benthic stage, adult insects of large and diverse taxa such as Trichoptera have great potential for indicating stream conditions. To explore their associations with stream variables, nearly 500,000 adult caddisfly specimens were collected from 798 ultraviolet blacklight samples throughout the northcentral United States. From an original pool of 11 stream characteristic variables, a non-metric multidimensional scaling ordination determined four that were strongly associated with adult caddisfly assemblages: (1) mean summer stream temperature, (2) stream gradient, (3) base flow as a percentage of total flow, and (4) percentage of intact upstream terrestrial habitat. Association values for 209 common species, 60 common genera, and 17 common families from the region are herein presented based on weighted mean specimen abundance and coefficient of variation for each of the four determined variables. While validation of these presented association values using other datasets is necessary to confirm their general utility, this work represents a first step in using adult caddisflies to indicate both natural and anthropogenic stream conditions.

The adult stage of Trichoptera is valuable for assessing the biotic integrity of streams; however, it is not clear which specific metric(s) have the greatest value for doing so. In this study, >500,000 adult caddisfly specimens reflecting 299 species were sampled and identified from 903 stream sites throughout the northcentral United States. Specimen data were compiled into 31 water quality metrics encompassing taxonomic richness, diversity indices, pollution tolerance, percent dominant taxa, and relative abundance of functional feeding groups. Each metric was individually tested for its ability to predict the known percentage of undisturbed habitat upstream of each sampling site using simple linear regression modeling. Most metrics were statistically significant but had R2 values <0.30. The highest performing models were taxonomic richness at the species (R2 = 0.40), genus (0.52), and family (0.59) levels and the Hilsenhoff Biotic Index (HBI) (0.37). The family level of taxonomic resolution produced models with a higher R2 value than genus or species for all four of the metrics where taxonomic resolution was tested. Multiple linear regression models of all 31 metrics (R2 = 0.65) and of combined family richness, HBI, and the ratio of shredders to filtering collectors (0.62) exhibited modest improvements over using family richness exclusively. These results indicated that simple taxonomic richness metrics constitute the most effective predictors of undisturbed upstream habitat when using adult caddisfly data, and that family richness may be the most effective of all due to low stochastic variation and ease of use.
