Abstract Safeguarding is a fundamental aspect of the church’s role as a public institution. Recent and historic failures have served as a prescient reminder of this. The Church of England’s utilization of a tool from the domain of critical social psychology within its safeguarding structures is not neutral. Within the context of the Church of England, the provenance and nature of this tool is not well understood. Within, the intellectual origins of this tool are laid out indicative lines of inquiry are proposed which should – at the very least – be attended to by leaders within the administrative and public life of the Church.

The Caucasus was a hub for cultural and technological innovation in prehistory, yet the population history between the Greater and Lesser Caucasus remains insufficiently understood. We present genome-wide data of 205 individuals from modern Georgia and 25 from Armenia, spanning the period from the Bronze Age (BA) to the "Migration Period" (c. 3500 BCE-700 CE). Our results reveal a persisting local gene pool that, during the Middle-Late BA, absorbed additional ancestry from Anatolia and the neighboring Eurasian Steppe. In subsequent periods, we document population growth and increasing genetic diversity, supported by a high rate of individual ancestry outliers, particularly in urban centers of eastern Georgia. Among 20 Medieval individuals with artificially deformed skulls, 15 were part of local mating networks and five derived ancestry from the Eurasian Steppe, suggesting that cranial modification arrived with nomadic groups but became a locally adopted cultural practice.

ABSTRACTBackgroundThe A.G.E. Interrupter serum has been developed in an oil‐in‐water emulsion to contain 30% proxylane, Cassia alata extract, blueberry and pomegranate extract, rhamnose, and gentiana lutea root extract. The technology has several patent ingredients as well as synergistic patents with proxylane, rhamnose, and new ones submitted for the new ingredients. An ex vivo model using this final formulation has shown upregulation of laminin‐5, collagen IV, tropoelastin, and collagen III. Collagen IV and laminin are present in the dermal‐epidermal junction (DEJ) and are factors in the basement membrane function. Over time, the DEJ decreases in height and in surface area, leading to weakened skin integrity and structure. The serum was tested to illustrate visible life in the jawline, forehead, cheek, and neck as well as instrumental testing showing visible improvement in the nasolabial fold and forehead wrinkle.AimTo present a real‐world case series that demonstrates the use of the A.G.E. Interrupter serum as an adjunctive therapy to collagen‐stimulating procedures in a wide variety of patient ages and skin types.MethodsEight internationally recognized, licensed dermatologists with extensive experience in cosmetic and facial rejuvenation procedures were selected to participate in an expert panel. During the expert panel, dermatologists were asked to share 2 cases using the A.G.E. Interrupter serum in patients undergoing collagen‐stimulating procedures.ResultsFollowing the panel discussion, seven patient cases were selected to illustrate the use of the A.G.E. Interrupter serum in conjunction with collagen‐stimulating procedures to optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction. Experts found that daily A.G.E. Interrupter serum application post‐procedure led to improved overall results and high patient satisfaction.ConclusionThis case series provides evidence for different integrated skincare regimens using the A.G.E. Interrupter serum in a variety of patients.

The article deals with the fire in Lutsk, which occurred on the night of March 21–22, 1617. The author established the time and probable cause of the fire, determined the scale of the natural disaster and outlined the limits of its spread. It is noted that part of the city blocks and streets above the Styr River were destroyed or seriously damaged by the fire, along with the Market Square, two Union churches, the «Russian» hospital, the Armenian Church and the Catholic Church. It is assumed that the fire was stopped by the walls of the Okolny Castle, which, together with the Upper Castle, was not significantly affected by the fire.It was established that the residents of Lutsk, in the conditions of the spread of the fire, made efforts to save private and church property. In particular, their efforts saved the bells, icons, church utensils and other property of the Intercession and St. Nicholas Churches. At the same time, the documents attest to the facts of looting committed by army squires and individual residents of Lutsk on the Market Square and in other areas of the city in the conditions of chaos caused by the fire.It was noted that the fire caused great damage to the city economy; to overcome the consequences of the natural disaster, King Sigismund III granted a number of economic benefits. The author of the article also claims that the fire in 1617 disorganized the weakened Union Church, which had limited influence on the city residents (both burghers and nobility) and was unable to quickly restore the destroyed infrastructure under its jurisdiction. This situation created the prerequisites for the gradual transfer of land plots with objects destroyed by the fire to the hands of Orthodox and Roman Catholics. As a result, the Church of the Ascension of the Cross was built on the site of the burnt hospital, where the Orthodox brotherhood was organized, the influence of which spread far beyond the borders of Lutsk. The area where the St. Nicholas Church, destroyed by the fire, stood over time became the property of the Roman Catholics, who built a monastery on the site of the Union Church of Fatebenefratelli, which became widely known for its charity

The article deals with the problems of social interaction of Ukrainian parish clergy of Volhynia with the representatives of the nobility in the late 16th – the first half of the 17th century. The status of parish priests in the social realities of Ukrainian society of the Polish-Lithuanian period is considered. The author concludes that the clergy of the parish level can be considered in two models. The first is a social group consisting of representatives of hereditary elders. The second is a professional corporation, which unites not only hereditary priests but also people from other social groups, including burghers and nobles, who accepted the spiritual rank and became secular priests for various reasons. It is concluded that there could be two motivations for the nobility to make such a decision. The first was the material support that a priest received when he became the rector of a church with a rich foundation. The second involved a desire to dedicate one’s life to pastoral ministry, education, and research without career advancement. For example, the author analyzed the way of life and activity of two prominent representatives of the parish clergy of noble origin from Volhynia – Stefan Smotrytskyi and Fedor Meleshko. The connection of Stefan Smotrytskyi’s activity with the traditions of the scientific and educational center in Ostroh and the merits of Volodymyr deacon Fedor Meleshko in the development of schooling in Volhynia are emphasized. It is concluded that role of social interaction of the parish clergy with the nobility in cultural and national movement in Ukraine in the second half of the 16th – mid-17th century was important.

Sound and voice have been invoked in neo-Victorian criticism since its beginning, and we have utilised the notion of the author as medium: for example, the medium’s ability to communicate with the dead has been used as metaphor for the dialogue between past and present, and the author functioning as a medium partaking of the world of the dead and world of the living, thus connecting and embodying the disembodied voices of the dead. However, my interest here lies not only in the voices of the dead, but also in other sound-related phenomena that feature in neo-Victorian novels so as to illustrate that neo-Victorianism impinges on the Victorian duality materiality/immateriality, embodiment/disembodiment, including acoustics. Moreover, I would like to argue that the paradoxical nature of the movement is predicated upon the ambivalent nature of the notion of noise, and that, in a way, neo-Victorianism functions as a noise in that it interrupts our present, and acquires a productive value, following Michel Serres. Therefore, in this paper I will consider neo-Victorianism as a noise, and I will discuss soundscapes and affective sensoriality in a selection of texts. Then, I will argue that a framework of sensoriality, through the evocation of sound, voice and noise, helps us interrogate our interaction with the non-human, and makes us think what it is like to be human today.
