Pythia: Facilitating Access to Internet Data Using LLMs and IYP
Internet data analysis is essential for policymakers and regulators to make informed decisions. Despite the various datasets made available by the research community, the analysis of these datasets is challenging due to their various formats and required analysis tools. The Internet Yellow Pages (IYP) database is designed to simplify Internet data analysis by combining many datasets into a single format. Hence, IYP enables users to retrieve data from various Internet datasets using a single querying language called Cypher. However, learning Cypher and understanding IYP’s schema is still challenging. Large Language Models (LLMs) offer the potential to generate Cypher queries from English text. In this paper, we assess the ability of different LLMs to generate Cypher queries. We introduce CypherEval, a dataset for evaluating LLM-generated Cypher queries, and we propose a methodology to benchmark LLMs for IYP. Finally, we present Pythia, a system for the generation of IYP Cypher queries.

Profiling methods are used to study the physical properties of the geological environment in the horizontal direction, as a rule, of large geological objects in length or area, when the measuring installation moves along a given trajectory (profile) by means of a carrier. A feature of the profiling method is the fixation of the distance, mainly between sources and receivers, when moving the entire installation along the profile. The determination of the physical properties of a geological object is based on solving the inverse coefficient problem of mathematical physics. The paper proposes a new approach to solving inverse coefficient problems based on data measured by profiling installations in the direct current electrical exploration method, and based on linear volumetric integral equations. Examples of numerical implementation of the solution of the inverse profiling problem in three-dimensional inhomogeneous anisotropic models of the geological environment are considered.

The settlement of claims for occupational diseases has been the subject of legal debate for years. Several solutions have already been investigated. In the discussion about the 'right' solution to the occupational disease problem, the focus is on fair claims handling. This is in line with theories about perceived procedural justice. Fair treatment is essential. For example, research shows that people are more satisfied with the outcome of their procedure if they experience their treatment as fair. A fair treatment also has positive effects on trust in authorities, such as employers. One proposed solution to the issue of occupational diseases, which appears to respect principles of fair treatment, lies in compensation schemes for occupational diseases. In the Netherlands, such schemes have emerged rapidly in recent years, often introduced by the government or (former) employers. The premise is that injured parties are compensated for their harm through a fixed payment, without an acknowledgment of liability. While this approach does not provide full compensation, it aims to offer a benefit that is delivered quickly and with minimal dispute. The intention is to avoid burdensome legal proceedings and the need to go to court, although the option to pursue legal action remains available to injured parties. Extensive literature exists on employer liability and occupational diseases. However, no prior research has examined how compensation schemes for occupational diseases align with the existing system of tort law. Furthermore, these schemes have not been analyzed from a social psychological perspective to understand how they are experienced by injured parties. This study investigates compensation schemes from both of these perspectives.

The role and position of the judge are constantly evolving. Due to dissatisfaction with the (lack of) solutions from the Dutch government to societal issues, interest groups are increasingly using the courtroom as an arena to achieve (their desired) societal changes. Consider recent cases on climate change, the export of aircraft components by the Netherlands to Israel, or the Dutch asylum system. Such cases have far-reaching societal consequences. At the same time, judges are expected to complement the legislature by further developing the law — for example, by interpreting rules and filling in open norms. People and businesses subsequently adjust their behavior based on the results of such judicial lawmaking. Here too, the consequences of a judicial decision extend beyond the individual dispute. As a result of the foregoing, judges are increasingly confronted with the potential societal consequences of their rulings. In such cases, macro consequences arise. But what should judges do with such potential effects of their judgments? If a judge wishes to consider macro-effects in their decision-making, this raises complex questio. For instance, how can they obtain relevant information beyond the parties involved when they have to base their judgment solely on the input of the litigating parties? And how far can they go in considering macro-effects without encroaching on the political domain? This research aims to provide judges with a compass to navigate between the domains of society, the litigating parties, and politics in tort cases where macro consequences may arise

On the Importance of Being an AS: An Approach to Country-Level AS Rankings
Recent geopolitical events demonstrate that control of Internet infrastructure in a region is critical to economic activity and defense against armed conflict. This geopolitical importance necessitates novel empirical techniques to assess which countries remain susceptible to degraded or severed Internet connectivity because they rely heavily on networks based in other nation states. Currently, two preeminent BGP-based methods exist to identify influential or market-dominant networks on a global scale-network-level customer cone size and path hegemony-but these metrics fail to capture regional or national differences. We adapt the two global metrics to capture country-specific differences by restricting the input data for a country-specific metric to destination prefixes in that country. Although conceptually simple, our study required tackling methodological challenges common to most Internet measurement research today, such as geolocation, incomplete data, vantage point access, and lack of ground truth. Restricting public routing data to individual countries requires substantial downsampling compared to global analysis, and we analyze the impact of downsampling on the robustness and stability of our country-specific metrics. As a measure of validation, we apply our country-specific metrics to case studies of Australia, Japan, Russia, Taiwan, and the United States, illuminating aspects of concentration and interdependence in telecommunications markets. To support reproducibility, we will share our code, inferences, and data sets with other researchers.
