8439 Disproportionate complaints and GMC referrals of IMG doctors: a soft landing approach to empowering IMG paediatricians
Case study of a semantic library underpinning the four-corner model for document exchange
The four-corner model network topology enables parties using non-declarative data to leverage declarative content in a document exchange network, thus triggering the network effect of enabling each new user to access all existing users without knowing their trading partner's use of non-declarative data.

Thanks for the further development of ubiquitous computing technology and the advent of smartphone, the user behaviors are becoming more dynamic, diverse in terms of their access, gather and use of information within the urban areas. However, current web based information retrieval services still use the same methodologies and processes that were developed in a decade ago and these perspectives requires heavy cognitive loads with continuous strategic decision in order to get appropriate search results. To address this problem, we designed a smart agent-based information retrieval service focusing on the context of mobile phone users in crowded, complex urban areas.

Technical Aspects of Software Development in Startups: A Systematic Mapping
Startup companies are seeking for a business model by means of innovative products and need external investments until they can stabilize this product in the market and then start to grow to become a mature company. Nevertheless, many of these companies fail before the growth phase, emerging the need to seek for methods that help these companies to achieve their goals. This paper intends to identify the techniques, practices and tools used in software development on startups and from the results present a knowledge base that can be transferable to the industry. A systematic mapping study was conducted using a classification schema to attest the primary studies quality as well as a exclusion and inclusion criteria to select them. A total of 112 studies are found at the end of the searches and 19 of them were selected to form the mapping study. From these studies a total of 24 techniques, 31 practices and 37 tools were found. As a result the mapping study presents a technical knowledge base that seeks to fill the research gap and that can also be used as a starting point for both researchers and startups' practitioners.
Read moreA method of gender classification by integrating facial, hairstyle, and clothing images
This work presents a method of gender classification by integrating facial, hairstyle, and clothing images. Initially, input images are separated into facial, hairstyle and clothing regions, and independently learned PCAs and GMMs based on thousands of sample images are applied to each region. The classification results are then integrated into a single score using some known priors based on the Bayes rule. Experimental results showed that our integration strategy significantly reduced error rate in gender classification compared with the conventional facial only approach.
Read moreFundamentals of Ballooning Modes in Tokamak
Tokamak flux surfaces are dominated by irrational surfaces, which brings the mathematical problem how to satisfy double periodicity in toroidal and poloidal angles for flute like perturbation expressed by the eikonal form. Ballooning transform is essential method to analyze 2D mode structure in toroidal geometry not only to ideal Ballooning mode, but also for high n toroidal drift waves and Alfven eigenmodes. Fundamentals of ballooning mode structure in toroidal plasma is discussed for the application to MHD instabilities and toroidal drift waves. After an introduction of ballooning transform from real geometry to covering space in section 6.1, the method to satisfy double periodicity flute like perturbation is discussed using the eikonal form in the flux coordinates using Poisson sum and its relation to translational symmetry in 6.2. The 2D hallooning transform and twisted radial Fourier transform are discussed in 6.3. Trapped and passing mode structures in 2D wave equation are discussed using the WKBJ formulation in 6.4. Poisson sum, Bloch theorem and WKBJ solutions are given as Columns.

Data fitting independent of grid structure using a volumic version of MPU
Volume graphics is a key technology in fields such as fluid dynamics and medical science. The visualization of volume data requires the creation of a continuous scalar field to exactly or approximately interpolate scalar values assigned to the discrete voxels. In the present paper, we propose a method that we refer to as the volumic version of the multi-level partition of unity (volumic MPU). The method approximately interpolates the scalar values with good precision to generate a scalar field that is continuous up to second-order differentiation. The volumic MPU, being independent of grid structures of input volume data, is applicable to both irregular-grid data and regular grid data. The volumic MPU can also be used as an effective data-compression technique. The speed to evaluate the created scalar field is almost as high as that of trilinear interpolation.
Read moreGasdynamic effects during the growth of crystalline gallium nitride via chloride-hydride epitaxy in a vertical reactor
The growth of crystalline gallium nitride during chloride-hydride vapor epitaxy in a vertical reactor is numerically simulated. The effects of a break in the stability of the gas flow and the related changes in the crystal growth characteristics are analyzed; these changes are caused by changes in the flow rates of the gas components and in the crystal position with respect to the source of gallium. Free concentrational convection is found to substantially affect the crystal growth rate distribution over the crystal surface.
