The incorporation of plant-derived oils into cosmetic formulations has attracted increasing interest due to their natural origin, skin compatibility, and multifunctional formulation roles. Argan and castor oils are widely used in cosmetic products as emollient lipid components with intrinsic antioxidant properties. However, limited studies have systematically evaluated the physicochemical stability and antioxidant performance of emulsions combining these two oils. The aim of this study was to develop and comprehensively characterize a stable oil-in-water (O/W) cosmetic emulsion based on argan and castor oils using a natural non-ionic emulsifier (C14–22 Alcohol (and) C12–20 Alkyl Glucoside). Particular emphasis was placed on formulation stability, as it represents a critical prerequisite for further product evaluation. Stability was investigated through thermal stress testing (4–37 °C), centrifugation assays, droplet size analysis, and zeta potential measurements. Complementary physicochemical and structural characterization was performed using rheological analysis and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. The formulated emulsion exhibited good physical stability with no phase separation under the tested conditions, a skin-compatible pH, a uniform droplet size distribution (4.15 ± 0.68 µm), and pseudoplastic, moderately thixotropic rheological behavior. Antioxidant capacity was assessed using the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging assay, yielding an IC50 value of 19.21 ± 1.02 mg/mL. Overall, this study provides a formulation-oriented framework for the development and evaluation of stable natural oil-based O/W emulsions intended for cosmetic applications, supporting future optimization and biological validation.

The construction sector plays a significant role in the economic development of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as an engine of growth attracting investors and participants from different parts of the world. The complexity of the construction industry coupled with the diverse nature of the participants in a typical construction project often leads to disputes. Mediation offers the parties an opportunity to resolve their disputes in a timely and cost-efficient manner while preserving their business relationships. Although study has shown that mediation is the second most utilized method of resolving construction disputes in UAE after negotiations, the main obstacle in its uptake has been the lack of enforceability of mediated settlement agreements across borders due largely to UAE’s nonmembership of the Singapore Convention on Mediation. The lack of a legal framework that provides for effective enforceability of mediated settlement agreements (MSAs) concluded in the UAE in foreign jurisdictions and vice versa acts as a disincentive to the use of mediation in resolving international business disputes including construction disputes in the UAE. Accession to the Singapore Convention will not only encourage parties to international construction contracts in UAE to resort to mediation as a preferred method of resolving their disputes but could potentially, strengthen the country’s competitive position as a center for not only international arbitration but also international commercial mediation as membership of the Convention makes the enforcement of MSAs concluded in the UAE in other jurisdictions and vice versa much easier.

Quantifying animal movements is necessary for answering a wide array of research questions in ecology and conservation biology. Consequently, ecologists have made considerable efforts to identify the best way to estimate an animal's home range, and many methods of estimating home ranges have arisen over the past half a century. Most of these methods fall into two distinct categories of estimators that have only recently been described in statistical detail: those that measure range distributions (methods such as kernel density estimation that quantify the long-run behavior of a movement process that features restricted space use) and those that measure occurrence distributions (methods such as Brownian bridge movement models and the Correlated Random Walk Library that quantify uncertainty in an animal movement path during a specific period of observation). In this paper, we use theory, simulations, and empirical analysis to demonstrate the importance of appropriately using these two categories of distributions and their estimators. Conflating range and occurrence distributions can have serious consequences for ecological inference and conservation practice. For example, in most situations, home ranges estimated using estimators of occurrence distributions are too small, and this problem is exacerbated by ongoing improvements in tracking technology that enable more frequent and more accurate data on animal movements. We encourage researchers to use estimators of range distributions to quantify home ranges and estimators of occurrence distributions to answer other questions in movement ecology, such as when and where an animal crossed a linear feature, visited a location of interest, or interacted with other animals.

The European Qualified Person (QP) holds unique legal responsibility for certifying batch release, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining regulatory compliance. Modern pharmaceutical manufacturing-especially in biologics, advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs), and personalized medicines-generates complex, multi-site, data-rich environments that challenge traditional oversight. Artificial Intelligence (AI) offers predictive analytics, anomaly detection, and trend recognition to support decision-making but cannot currently replace the QP's scientific judgment or legal accountability. The forthcoming Annex 22 introduces Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) frameworks that embed human oversight within AI-supported processes, aligning technological advancement with regulatory control. This review explores evolving QP responsibilities, core and emerging competencies, AI integration within Quality Risk Management (QRM) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) frameworks, and ethical considerations, illustrated with practical case studies. By developing AI literacy and applying HITL oversight, QPs can more effectively translate technological potential into transparent, science-based, and patient-centered batch-release decisions.

Despite new working time regulations, the workload in orthopedics and trauma surgery remains high. Balancing work, family and leisure is difficult and can lead to frustration, health problems, and potential risks to patient safety, which can diminish the attractiveness of this surgical specialty. Acurrent survey analyzes the present situation and identifies the needs of clinically active colleagues in the field of orthopedics and trauma surgery. An electronic questionnaire (Microsoft Forms, Microsoft Inc., Redmond, WA, USA) was distributed to collect demographic data as well as information on current and desired working time and duty models. Additional questions addressed the work-life balance, opportunities for remote work (home office) and career goals. Data analysis and graphical presentation were carried out using Excel (Microsoft Inc) and statistical analyses were performed with SPSS Version 25.0 (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY, USA). Atotal of 549 individuals participated. Most participants were residents in training (n = 231) or senior physicians (n = 161). The established working time models were recognized but rated as below average in terms of satisfaction. Of the respondents 84% worked full-time with an average working time of 59.5 h per week. Both full-time and part-time employees expressed asignificant desire to reduce their working hours, 54% reported the presence of an objective electronic or other time-tracking system and in 47% of cases atime-tracking account was in place. Of the respondents 84% indicated that remote work was not available, although 75% would like to make use of this option and 90% were interested in acontinued employment in the hospital provided that their preferences could be implemented. The workload of clinically active physicians in orthopedics and trauma surgery is high. Concepts that include areduction in working hours, an improvement in duty-related strain, greater flexibility in working time models and the possibility of partial remote work could have asustainable impact and offer asignificant competitive advantage in view of increasingly scarce human resources.

Validating LiDAR-based detection for intelligent mobile systems in open environments requires test data that realistically reflects sensor responses, task-relevant conditions, and environmental context. Virtual simulations allow for controlled scene generation but only approximate sensor-specific effects, such as intensity responses or material-dependent reflections, and require significant effort to construct realistic environments. Real-world data acquired within the intended Operational Design Domain provides genuine sensor realism but offers limited control over influencing factors and lacks situational diversity. We address this gap with a method called Point Cloud Recombination, which systematically augments real outdoor scenes by integrating physical point clouds of target objects acquired in a controlled laboratory setup. Mobile robotic platforms allow systematic variation of design, positioning, and material properties of the targets. A fusion framework combines lab-acquired point clouds with outdoor scenes, while Neural Radiance Field-based mesh generation and subsequent geometric registration ensure realistic integration, preserving phenomena such as point dropouts caused by reflective or absorptive materials. The method is demonstrated by augmenting urban and rural scenes with humanoid targets using an Ouster OS1-128 Rev7 sensor. Evaluation follows Sim2Real principles based on geometric consistency metrics, showing minimal geometrical deviations with an average F1-Hit-Score overlap of 99%. Point Cloud Recombination enables scalable, sensorfaithful test data generation and facilitates systematic, hardwareintegrated perception testing beyond conventional virtual-lidar hardware-in-the-loop approaches, supporting the development of reliable detection functions for safety-critical applications.
