In the fall of 2020 interviews were conducted with students of color at Trinity International University. The goal was to better understand the experiences students of color have had with the library, how the library can be more welcoming, and ways that librarians can work toward anti-racism. This paper reports key themes from the interviews. It also describes the lessons learned about having these discussions and provides suggestions for other librarians wishing to connect more with their students of color. Engaging in intentional conversations with students of color can help librarians build relationships with students and gain valuable insights into how the library can better serve students.

This paper broadly surveys the present adoption of Artificial Intelligence in mainstream enterprise applications and envisions a future in which businesses and organizations of all sizes will derive value from AI-enhanced applications. In this context, Artificial Intelligence refers to a broad spectrum of technologies which have the potential to move the enterprise applications paradigm from one of replacing human effort with machine effort where the machine can simply outperform humans in terms of reliability and operations per unit time, to enhancing human activity by adding artificially intelligent machine activity to model and interact with real world complexity in ways that exceed human ability to synthesize and derive insights from the data tsunami under which many organizations are awash. The present and potential contributions of various primary forms of Artificial Intelligence are considered with respect to applications which drive marketplace innovation, applications which enable marketplace differentiation, and applications which simply enable and improve operations and recordkeeping.A framework is proposed for use by business and technology leaders and enterprise architects for maintaining alignment with organizational goals and values, identifying consumable Artificial Intelligence technologies, and create a value-oriented roadmap for prioritization and implementation.

In chapter 9 I use Ivan Ilyich's life, as told by Leo Tolstoy in The Death of Ivan Ilyich, to answer the question of the chapter, how should we live so as to die well? One answer is to be open to knowing our inner lives, to what is good, and to God. Another is to develop character traits opposite to those of Ivan Ilyich, which were delight in the power to crush his inferiors, pleasure in trivialities, and excessive self-regard. The chapter also describes the moral agony that Ivan Ilyich experienced as a result of his dying, his resistance to examining his life, and the openness he needed to have to be aware of his inner life. The chapter ends with a conversation between an imagined, transformed Ivan as he lay dying and a friend of his.

ABSTRACT A diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) changes family dynamics and impacts family members’ lives. Knowing family perceptions of ASD and understanding their experiences and challenges with children’s ASD provides more important context for socially valid intervention approaches. In particular, given the increased need for culturally responsive interventions, investigating the impact of ASD diagnosis on a particular cultural group offers meaningful preliminary evidence for efficient approaches for educators who seek to serve that population. In this study, the authors used naturalistic inquiry to explore how Korean American mothers experience their children’s ASD and how their cultural values and perceptions of ASD relate to their lives and their children’s education. Five Korean American mothers participated in this study. Using constant comparative analysis, four key themes were identified: (a) chains of emotional distress, (b) impact of ASD on family relationships, (c) lifestyle impact, and (d) cultural differences in navigating educational systems. These findings are discussed for future research and practice.
