The Greater Toronto Airports Authority is undertaking a major capital development initiative at Toronto Pearson International Airport known as Pearson Long-term Investment in Facilities and Terminals (Pearson LIFT). Pearson LIFT is designed to transform the airport into the world-class, sustainable and passenger-centric hub which will be needed in the coming decades. This paper examines the mechanisms established to manage the complexity of this transformation, focusing on two interrelated new initiatives that have been implemented by the airport company: the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) Cabinet governance model and the Interface Coordination Group (ICG). Drawing on programme management principles, systems theory, organisational design and infrastructure governance, this paper analyses how these bodies function to mediate interdepartmental coordination, mitigate operational risk and ensure strategic alignment across multiple aviation capital programmes, some of which are executed simultaneously in a live airport environment. The SPOC Cabinet operates as a senior-level forum, facilitating cross-functional collaboration, critical decision endorsements and escalation pathways to the Executive Capital Committee. In contrast, the ICG serves as a tactical coordination mechanism, using a centralised airport activity calendar and structured conflict resolution guidelines to manage programme and airport operational activities. Through an analysis of both initiatives, their methodologies and governance structures, this paper argues that the SPOC–ICG model represents a new way of managing complex aviation infrastructure delivery in operationally constrained airport environments. The findings contribute to the literature on aviation megaproject delivery and offer a replicable framework for other complex, multi-stakeholder aviation programmes seeking to balance strategic oversight with operational agility. Context. We investigate the origin of inter-band continuum time delays in active galactic nuclei (AGNs) in order to study the structure and properties of their accretion disks. Aims. We aim to measure the inter-band continuum time delays through photometric monitoring of Seyfert galaxy Fairall 9 to construct the lag-spectrum. Additionally, we explain the observed features in the Fairall 9 lag-spectrum and discuss the potential drivers behind them based on our newly collected data from the Obserwatorium Cerro Murphy (OCM) telescope. Methods. We initiated a long-term, continuous AGN photometric monitoring program in 2024 titled Hubble constant constraints through AGN Light curve Observations (HALO) using intermediate and broadband filters. Here, we present the first results from HALO, focusing on photometric light curves and continuum time-delay measurements for Fairall 9. To complement these observations and extend the wavelength coverage of the lag-spectrum, we also reanalyzed archival Swift light curves and spectroscopic data available in the literature. Results. Using HALO and Swift light curves, we measured inter-band continuum delays to construct the lag-spectrum of Fairall 9. Excess lags appear in the u and U bands (Balmer continuum contamination) and in the I band (Paschen jump and dust emission from the torus). Overall, the lag-spectrum deviates significantly from standard disk model predictions. Conclusions. We find that inter-band delays deviate from the power law, τ λ ∝ λ β , due to broad-line region scattering, reprocessing, and dust contributions at longer wavelengths. Power-law fits are therefore not well suited to characterizing the nature of the time delays.

Background: Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a progressive fibrosing lung disease that predominantly affects older adults. Structured exercise is a useful therapy in IPF. Home-based exercise enabled by mobile health monitoring may remove some accessibility barriers associated with center-based rehabilitation, but may also introduce technology-related use barriers among older adults. Subjects: Seventeen adults with IPF [7 female, mean age 67.4 ± 9 (SD)] Methods: In-depth, semi-structured interviews explored the usability and user experience associated with a remote monitoring system among adults with IPF, after 16 weeks of interaction with medical-grade pulse oximetry, as part of a randomized controlled trial of a 12-week home exercise intervention (NCT04838275). Results: Participants felt that the use of medical-grade pulse oximetry (1) enhanced safety during exercise, (2) enabled tracking of progress, and (3) empowered autonomy and real-time decision-making about intensity pacing and supplemental oxygen use. Barriers to pulse oximetry usability included (4) problems syncing and sharing pulse oximetry data with the study team. Despite some usability challenges, participants reported a positive overall experience with the system, with 94% perceiving medical-grade pulse oximetry as a strong exercise facilitator in IPF. Conclusions: Medical-grade pulse oximetry enhances perceived safety and autonomy during home exercise in adults with IPF, facilitating increased confidence when making decisions about exercise intensity pacing and supplemental oxygen use. As IPF disproportionately affects older adults, pulse oximetry monitoring systems should incorporate older adult-centered design principles to improve the user experience of adults with IPF during home exercise.
