Purpose This research investigates how circular economy practices and sustainable digital closed-loop supply chains impact economic performance and intellectual capital development in the manufacturing sector of Gulf Cooperation Council countries. The geographical region faces unique sustainability and financial challenges when addressing critical gaps in understanding how circular practices integrate with sustainable digital and closed-loop supply chains and leverage structural, human and relational capital. Design/methodology/approach Modeling sustainable digital closed-loop supply chain as a multidimensional construct mediating the relationship between the circularity practices and economic outcomes through the lens of intellectual capital, using 200 respondents from manufacturing firms, is the core of this research. The study applies the structural equation modeling approach and analyzes the model pathways that significantly enhance sustainable digital performance. Findings The results indicate that circular economy practices significantly enhance sustainable digital closed-loop supply chain performance, which in turn has a strong positive impact on economic performance. The mediating role of closed-loop supply chain performance indicates how structural and relational capital help in generating economic value. This indirect effect exceeds the direct effect of circular practices on economic performance. Practical implications The findings of this research offer guidance to managers and policymakers to consider circular economic initiatives as necessary investments toward developing intangible intellectual assets. Strengthening digital infrastructure, employee competencies and supply chain partnerships are critical in leveraging the circular economy–driven intellectual capital. Originality/value While earlier studies consider circular economy and digital closed-loop supply chain as only operational strategies to minimize waste and improve efficient use of resources, this study conceptualizes them as primary mechanisms for intellectual capital formation. This research is among the first empirical studies to examine the integration of circular practices and digital closed-loop supply chain performance through the intellectual capital lenses. This integrative approach extends intellectual capital theory into the sustainability and digitalization domains underpinning the economic performance in Gulf Cooperation Council manufacturing.

Heart Disease Prediction for Enhanced Cardiovascular Health Management by Using Machine Learning Algorithms: A Cross-Sectional Study
In the world, cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are still the number one killer, so it is crucial that we develop prediction models that are both accurate and easily understandable. In order to improve prediction performance, this research investigates the potential of adopting ensemble learning approaches instead of traditional machine learning methods. To be more precise, we used a 1,190-record, 11-feature publically available Kaggle dataset. Using preprocessing and oversampling, we were able to rectify the class imbalance. The classical models that were used as evaluation baselines included KNN, SVM, DT, RF. Afterwards, a variety of ensemble approaches were utilized, including hard and soft voting, adaBoost and XGBoost boosting, random forest bagging, and stacking with Logistic Regression as the meta-classifier. Stacking resulted in an accuracy of 94.88%, proving that ensemble strategies routinely outperform individual models. By proving the framework could manage imbalanced data and back the long-term tracking of patients with chronic diseases, more case studies proved the system’s clinical relevance.

Monitoring water in agricultural landscapes is essential for sustainable resource management, irrigation planning, and early flood detection. Recent advances in remote sensing, particularly the availability of high-resolution multispectral imagery from satellites and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), have greatly improved the capacity to detect and analyze water with higher spatial and temporal precision. This paper reviews 48 peer-reviewed studies published in the last six years, selected based on their focus on agricultural or non-urban areas, use of multispectral imagery, methodological detail, real-world validation, and scientific relevance. The analysis examines four main detection methodologies-spectral indices, decision trees, machine learning techniques, and neural networks-highlighting their respective strengths, limitations, and applicability to agricultural water monitoring. It also synthesizes information on platforms, sensors, and spectral bands most commonly used, as well as issues of data accessibility (free vs. commercial). The review consolidates the current state of the art in multispectral remote sensing for agricultural water detection and identifies key challenges and research opportunities to advance both methodological development and practical applications.
