I will try, in the following lines, to present a brief history of Romanian genealogical knowledge and the successive losses that have marked it. In my view, these losses, these successive mournings influence even today the way we relate to our own ancestors and, more broadly, the way we relate to the memory of the community and to each other.

This work investigates how the damages in cross-sectoral climate change risk hotspots can be assessed drawing on methodologies developed and applied to eight case studies conducted within the EU CROSSEU project. Hotspot analysis represents several key challenges in the assessment of the impacts of climate hazards and the focus here is on extreme climate events rather than on the impacts of gradual climate change. Hotspots are defined as areas where climate events are likely to generate high potential damages. The hotspot identification methodology provides a framework for identification of context specific vulnerabilities due to a combination of factors, including the magnitude of extreme climate events (physical aspects), the presence of critical infrastructure and vulnerable populations (socio-economic aspects), and the sector specific vulnerabilities as well as interconnectedness of different sectors (cross-sectoral aspects). The identification of hotspots is based on a combination of quantitative and qualitative data, including climate projections, socio-economic data, and stakeholder consultations. The hotspot methodological framework is applied to a range of case study sectors and geographical settings. The case studies cover heat waves in Czech Republic and United Kingdom; drought in regions of Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, and Romania; floods in Denmark, Germany, and Italy; and snow avalanches in the Alps and Carpathian Mountains. While three other case studies addressed climate change impacts and spillover effects in the Lower Danube region and across Europe- particularly on renewable energy infrastructure and agriculture. In terms of physical vulnerabilities, the case studies demonstrate that Prague and Southern Moravia in the Czech Republic, and London in the UK, are hotspots for heat-related mortality and morbidity, and specific social and structural vulnerabilities in these areas are related to high population densities, aging populations, and the urban heat island effect.  Several regions in Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, and Romania are identified as hotspots for drought. The economic vulnerability of these regions is primarily due to the reliance of agriculture on rainfed water sources. Coastal cities in Southern Denmark and Northern Germany are vulnerable to storm surges, impacting thousands of residents by disrupting daily life, socioeconomic activities, restricting movement and even necessitating temporary relocation. The mountainous areas of the Trentino Alto Adige region in Italy are hotspots for debris flows and flash floods, and are vulnerable due to their low-lying coastal areas, high population densities, and critical infrastructure. The Italian Alps and the Făgăraș Mountains in the Romanian Carpathians are hotspots for snow avalanches with potential high economic losses for tourism. The Lower Danube region is a hotspot for both droughts and floods, posing significant risks to a unique biodiversity ecosystem, as well as to agriculture, energy infrastructure, and human settlements. This hotspot analysis in the CROSSEU project provides key comparative risk assessment measures, contributing to the establishment of effective adaptation strategies in the EU and also at regional levels. This research received funds from the project “Cross-sectoral Framework for Socio-Economic Resilience to Climate Change and Extreme Events in Europe (CROSSEU)” funded by the European Union Horizon Europe Programme, under Grant agreement n° 101081377.

In the following paper I’m proposing a phenomenological reflection on the problem of dwelling, as it is formulated in Martin Heidegger’s thought. Constructions are seen as a work of art that open up the space and create a place as well. These constructions allow us to authentically dwell. In the first chapter, I aim to present what it means to dwell in Martin Heidegger’s philosophy. I then propose a different approach to constructions, distinct from the examples Heidegger gives, namely “temple” and “bridge”. I argue that “chapel” is a suitable example of an authentic construction that allows us to dwell in the world in an authentic manner.

The article means to investigate the manner in which the novelist creates a female character who has little in common with the Russian literary and cultural canon, through the dynamic in said character's construction, the ideation and symbolism found in the novel and the postmodern techniques employed (intertextuality, fragmentation, parody, relativization of meanings in the text etc.). Part of the analysis highlights the inclusion of Erofeev's female character into the array of postmodern protagonists, an antihero with a fragmented personality and a fluid identity, in whose existential universe libertinism, uninhibited sexuality, the absence of any taboo, mental frailty and nihilism, along with sarcasm and resentment towards the world around her, surface. In addition, we're taking into consideration another deconstructive mechanism of the Russian female archetype, precisely one through which Erofeev attributes to the protagonist roles that, up to that point in literature, had been exclusively assigned to male characters. Thus, Ira acquires the attributes of a reflection character, showcasing numerous social issues, Soviet society's shortcomings, lack of dignity among writers of that time etc.

This study investigates the application of Natural Language Processing (NLP) methods to uncover linguistic and stylistic variations within the corpus of Ludwig Wittgenstein, a philosopher renowned for his complex and notional contributions.By analyzing works such as Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus alongside his later notes, manuscripts, and student-dictated lectures in Cambridge, we aim to identify significant distinctions in language use and conceptual framing. The corpus poses unique difficulties because of its diverse origins, including published works, personal notes, and collaboratively edited transcripts.Using zero-shot NLP techniques, this exploratory/preliminary research aims to reveal patterns reflective of Wittgenstein's philosophical evolution and differences in text production methods. The results highlight the potential of computational approaches to enhance our understanding of complex, context-dependent philosophical writings, providing a possible path for further interdisciplinary investigations into linguistic and conceptual dynamics in the challenging body of work.

The waiver of the requirement that the acts of the continuing offence must be directed against the same passive subject is preferable because it preserves the tradition of the regulation of our criminal law and leads to a milder sanctioning of the perpetrator by broadening the incidence of the continuing crime. It is not possible enforce a smaller penalty for the entire continued offence than that originally applied for part of the acts of execution and in relation with no causes of mitigation were observed. Recalculation of the penalty for the continuing offence should also be possible if the original judgment was to waive the penalty or postpone the application of the penalty, even though they are not criminal convictions. As in the system of the Criminal Code in force there is no longer a rehabilitation without a time condition, it could be argued that it would be enough just to specify that the new offence should be committed “until the deadline for rehabilitation is fulfilled”, and the provision “until the rehabilitation” would seem superfluous.

What could possibly bring together Adrian Georgescu’s novel Exitus (2017) and Elem Klimov’s film Idzi i Hliadzi (Come and See, U.S.S.R., 1985)? Both texts explore war trauma experienced by underage subjects (Georgescu’s protagonist Milo is an orphan barely surviving in a devastated unnamed land, while Klimov’s hero, Flyora, is a Belarusian adolescent eager to join the Word War II partisans). We rely on Gilles Deleuze’s concept of time-image to investigate the narrative strategies with which the authors aim to represent what, essentially, ”one can’t look at”: children or teenagers as actors-victims of war.

In the milieu of interwar Romanian modernism, Șerban Cioculescu showed a particular interest in the making of literary biographies, which in the post-war decades resulted in a self-styled version of biographical criticism. This article follows the avatars of a heated debate developed in 1970-‘80s around the life and works of writer Mateiu I. Caragiale, involving, on the one hand, Alexandru George, Alexandru Paleologu, and N. Steinhardt, and on the other, Șerban Cioculescu and Eugen Simion. While the former group claims a textual hermeneutics devoid of biographical speculation, the latter supports the revival of biography-based analysis. Eugen Simion finds in Șerban Cioculescu’s approach a valuable ally, while preparing his book Întoarcerea autorului (The Return of the Author, 1981), to defy the mainstream anti-biographical orientation of Romanian criticism, and reintroduce, in the spirit of French theory (like Jean Starobinski or Serge Doubrovsky’s), the figure of the author in text interpretation.
