AAC Camrose Canada Prairie Spring Red Wheat
AAC Camrose, an awned hard red spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) cultivar, combines high grain yield and good agronomic characteristics with excellent resistance to leaf, stripe, and stem rust, Fusarium head blight (FHB) and common bunt. Based on 33 station-years of registration trial data from 2020 to 2022, the grain yield of AAC Camrose was 5% higher than AAC Foray and 11% over AAC Penhold. AAC Camrose was significantly shorter than AAC Foray, had straw strength similar to AAC Penhold and maturity was one day later than AAC Foray. AAC Camrose had similar test weight and protein concentration but lower thousand kernel weight as compared to AAC Foray. AAC Camrose had milling and baking quality suitable for grades of the Canada Prairie Spring Red wheat market class.

Pyruvate kinase M2 in Alzheimer’s disease: from dysregulation to therapeutic inhibition
Pyruvate kinase M2 (PKM2) has emerged as a critical regulator of Alzheimer’s disease pathophysiology. This review synthesizes current evidence demonstrating how PKM2 dysregulation contributes to cognitive decline by driving Warburg-like metabolic reprogramming, altering post-translational modifications and modulating protein–protein interactions. These processes collectively impair cell-cycle control, transcriptional regulation and cytoskeletal stability in neuronal cells. We further examine the impact of PKM2 on neuroinflammation, highlighting its context-dependent roles in microglia and astrocytes. In addition, we provide a comprehensive evaluation of natural and synthetic PKM2 modulators with therapeutic potential in Alzheimer’s disease, summarizing their mechanisms and reported outcomes. Clarifying the molecular basis of PKM2-mediated neurodegeneration and rigorously testing these modulators in preclinical models will be essential steps towards developing PKM2-targeted strategies for Alzheimer’s disease intervention.

We present our participatory design approach, which actively involved diverse stakeholders with an emphasis on inclusiveness, equality, and openness to co-create social innovation as a roadmap for information infrastructure to prevent youth homelessness across Canada. Following our foundational learning about homelessness data and its use from the existing literature and interviews, we engaged with a diverse group of stakeholders to co-create the roadmap. Our design process was guided by the Conceptual Framework for Participatory Design in Sensitive Contexts, whose principles include valuing lived experience, support for participation while respecting participants’ choices and agency, adopting asset-based approaches, and attunement to relationship dynamics. Youth facilitators with lived experience played valuable roles in creating a safe space, addressing power dynamics, and eliciting youth voices that helped shape youth-centered recommendations. In addition, we had end users— researchers, policymakers, service providers, people with lived experience of youth homelessness, and Indigenous communities—help co-design the roadmap, in order to support their perspectives. Despite building relations and navigating resources and priorities in a time-bound project being challenging, this work provides insights into how similar work can be done to support large-scale plans for change around vulnerable youth.
