Abstract Während des geplanten konventionellen Rückbaus der Salzbachtalbrücken, zweier Autobahnbrücken der BAB A 66 im Wiesbadener Stadtteil Biebrich, versagte am 18. Juni 2021 ein Rollenlager des Südüberbaus. Der Überbau senkte sich auf einen Pfeiler und drückte ihn zur Seite; ferner entstanden Risse im Überbau. Da die Standsicherheit nicht mehr gewährleistet war, wurden die Brücken sowie die darunter verlaufende Mainzer Straße und die Taunus‐Eisenbahn Richtung Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof gesperrt. Um möglichst schnell die daraus resultierenden erheblichen Verkehrsbehinderungen zu beseitigen, wurde kurzfristig ein Sprengabbruch beider Brücken geplant und durchgeführt. Aufgrund der beengten Platzverhältnisse und schützenswerter Infrastruktur in unmittelbarer Nähe der Abbruchobjekte sah das Konzept vor, zunächst die Südbrücke mittels Vertikalkollaps zu sprengen und anschließend die Nordbrücke mittels Kippkollaps auf die Südbrücke niederzulegen. Die Sprengung der Salzbachtalbrücken erfolgte am 6. November 2021 mit 204 kg Sprengstoff. Alle Pfeiler der Südbrücke knickten planmäßig in Richtung Westen aus, sodass der Überbau exakt senkrecht abstürzte. Die Nordbrücke folgte 3 Sekunden später und kippte planmäßig nach Süden. In diesem Beitrag werden die Historie des ursprünglich geplanten konventionellen Rückbaus, die Havarie sowie die Sprengabbruchplanung und ‐durchführung der Brücken erörtert.

The COVID-19 pandemic, a growing aging population, and inconsistent equity in aging have prompted more public health departments and agencies that focus on older adult services to establish partnerships to improve older adult health. To develop a model for strengthening and better aligning public health-aging partnerships, the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO) and Trust for America's Health engaged the Georgia Division of Aging Services (DAS) and Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) to participate in a pilot project. ASTHO conducted an intensive qualitative analysis of Georgia's State Health Improvement Plan and State Plan on Aging to systematically assess shared priorities and differences. Through facilitated discussions about the results, prioritization, and planning, DAS and DPH developed an action plan with 2 priority areas to collaborate on and further their partnership. This process can be replicated by other jurisdictions seeking to enhance public health-aging collaboration.

This paper describes the concept of an innovative, interdisciplinary, user-oriented earthquake warning and rapid response system coupled with a structural health monitoring system (SHM), capable to detect structural damages in real time.The novel system is based on interconnected decentralized seismic and structural health monitoring sensors.It is developed and will be exemplarily applied on critical infrastructures in Lower Rhine Region, in particular on a road bridge and within a chemical industrial facility.A communication network is responsible to exchange information between sensors and forward warnings and status reports about infrastructures' health condition to the concerned recipients (e.g., facility operators, local authorities).Safety measures such as emergency shutdowns are activated to mitigate structural damages and damage propagation.Local monitoring systems of the infrastructures are integrated in BIM models.The visualization of sensor data and the graphic representation of the detected damages provide spatial content to sensors data and serve as a useful and effective tool for the decision-making processes after an earthquake in the region under consideration.

Nowadays low back pain is beneath the population one of the most common and significant musculoskeletal problems. The causes as e.g. reduced body motion or loads out of the daily work life are versatile. The medical handling ranges form physiotherapies up to spine surgeries replacing intervertebral discs with implants. Through the fact, that more and more young people are affected and that the lifestyle of older people is changing, the requirements of the implants are steadily increasing.

Conventionally, modal monitoring of Wind Turbine Rotor Blades is primarily based on the evaluation of eigenfrequencies. Beyond this, combining a sensor network with the Operational Modal Analysis (OMA) method, mode shape and parallely a local component are utilized here. In addition it is expected that the damping, which is also determined by the OMA method, will give a lead on damage development at the rotor already at an early stage. Modal monitoring by means of measurement is combined with FEM simulation and with the comparison of results obtained from measurement and simulation. Moreover, this will establish a connection between the engineer and the design data of a rotor blade, which also are based on FEM analyzes. A further significant increase regarding error resolution is possible by combining the global modal methods with locally sensitive monitoring methods, based on guided elastic waves. These assume plate-like structures through which elastic waves propagate in the low-frequency ultrasonic range (10 - 100 kHz) in certain modes. These different wave modes interact distinctively with inner structural damages such as web fractures and delaminations. It is differentiated between piezoelectrically excited waves (acousto ultrasonics), and waves produced by energy released at fractures, delamination etc. (acoustic emission). Applying a moderate number of sensors, the combination of both methods can allow an effective monitoring of the global structure.

Abstract In this article, a structural health monitoring system for industrial piping systems is presented that combines global vibration monitoring and local guided wave monitoring within a multichannel and multipurpose measurement system. While vibration monitoring is able to characterize the global condition of the structure due to supports and dampers, the guided wave module is able to find small cracklike defects and corrosive material degradation in crucial error‐prone parts of the components. It can therefore be expected that a combination of the “global” and “local eye” will lead to a monitoring system with significantly increased performance and reliability. At the end of the article, the development of a joint decision support system embedded in an overall lifetime management for industrial piping systems is also described in detail.

Abstract Der vorliegende Beitrag berichtet über den Stand der Technik für Erschütterungsüberwachungen bei Baumaßnahmen. Nach einer kurzen Begründung der Notwendigkeit und einer Übersicht über Einwirkungen und Schutzziele wird die Gesamtaufgabe anhand eines Flußdiagramms systematisch dargestellt, und es wird der heutige Stand der Gerätetechnik erläutert. Das heute immer wichtiger werdende Anwendungsgebiet “Funktionstüchtigkeit von Geräten” wird vertieft. Praxisbeispiele, in denen charakteristische Erschütterungssignale für einzelne Einwirkungen und Objekte gezeigt werden, machen das Thema anschaulich.
