Spacecraft’s liquid-propellant jet thrusters serve as spacecraft control system actuators. Their main propellant is hydrazine, which is very toxic and difficult to use. Because of this, in recent years the world’s leading countries have paid much attention to a search for and the use of new untoxic “green” propellants, one of which is a water solution of three components: an ion substance, a fuel, and a stabilizer. A catalyst is installed at the thruster reaction chamber inlet for decomposing the ion substance to give an oxidizer, in whose presence the fuel burns to give high-temperature gaseous products, whose outflow through a supersonic nozzle produces a thrust. The development of thrusters of this type calls for a detailed study of thermochemical and gas-dynamic transformations in the thruster reaction chambers and hydraulic processes in the feed systems. Some of the reported developments of 0.1 N to 220 N “green” propellant thrusters were successfully tested in flight conditions. Ukrainian developers of jet thrusters pay much attention to the use of LMP-103S “green” monopropellant for spacecraft of various purposes. Under development is a propulsion system with several tens of thrusters that differ in thrust scale and operating conditions and are fed from a common propellant tank. Its designing calls for the mathematical simulation of its operation. The goal of this work is to adapt a comprehensive mathematical model of a system of liquid-propellant jet thrusters to LMP-103S monopropellant and verify it using data of single-thruster firing tests in ground and orbital conditions. The paper presents the basics of the adapted mathematical model, which describes an unsteady propellant flow in the pipelines from the tank to the thrusters, thermogas-dynamic processes in the reaction chambers, and the operation of electrically driven propellant valves for each of the thrusters. The model was verified for 1 N, 5 N, and 22 N trusters for different inlet propellant pressures characteristic of flight conditions. The calculated results showed that for a system of thrusters differing in thrust scale, their hydraulic coupling via the propellant feed system may result in their significant interplay, especially for thrusters differing in operating conditions.

VACUUM SYSTEM FOR COATING PARTS OF ROCKET AND SPACE EQUIPMENT
A vertical type vacuum plant was created for applying coatings using the ion-plasma deposition method to the inner surface of hollow products with a diameter of up to 200 mm and a length of up to 1000 mm. The plant includes: a vacuum chamber with a vacuum system, an evaporator with a magnetic system, a power supply and control system, a cooling system. Radial evaporation cathode of tubular shape with controlled arc is used. Inside the cathode is a magnetic system that controls the movement of cathode spots on its surface. Permanent magnets create arched magnetic fields that hold the position of the discharge track in the tangential direction. The trajectory of the movement of the cathode spots has the form of an ellipse stretched along the cathode. For uniform spraying of the cathode surface, the track moves in two directions: around the circumference of the cathode surface and along its length. A mechanism for moving the magnetic system is mounted on the cover of the vacuum chamber. The product to be coated is mounted inside the vacuum chamber in a vertical position thanks to the removable top cover. The necessary rarefaction of the atmosphere (vacuum) is achieved with the help of two vacuum pumps. Coating materials are traditional Сr and Ni-Cr alloys. A feature of the coating structure is presented: the formation of a combination of solid condensed and soft droplet phases. The droplet phase is a part of the evaporator material with several times lower hardness compared to the nitrided condensed phase. The distribution of the soft phase in a strong coating prevents its brittleness, which is important for thick coatings. The disadvantage of the vacuum-arc deposition process is the heating of the part to a temperature of 380-450 °C. To exclude the softening of the main metal of the combustion chamber and nozzle, it is recommended to use bronze alloys with a recrystallization temperature of at least 500 °C.

Abstract Combination of experimental testing and numerical analysis is suggested to determine static mechanical properties of the auxetic honeycombs realized via material extrusion. Special specimens, which consist of two honeycombs plates and three steel plates, are used to analyze experimentally shear mechanical properties of honeycombs. Shear testing is simulated using the finite elements software ANSYS. The tests on tension of honeycombs are carried out. These tests are simulated by finite elements software. Plasticity of the honeycomb material and geometrically nonlinear deformations of the honeycomb walls are accounted in honeycomb model. The experimental data and calculations results are close.

The paper deals with assessing the acoustic loads on the surface of a launching rocket obtained using the semiempirical technique NASA SP-8072 adapted for a launch pad located above the water area. The features of the launch facilities include the reduced length of the gas duct and the presence of a wedge-shaped gas-dynamic deflector divided into two symmetrical oppositely directed slopes. The calculations are made with the allowance for the limited length of the rocket jet's laminar core during take-off due to interaction with the gas-dynamic deflector. A corrected dependence is used for the overall acoustic energy distribution along the supersonic jet for the first time in domestic practice. The contributions of the sound sources associated with different jet sections and acoustic reflection from the water surface are assessed, depending on the current height of the rocket lift. A significant dependence of the resulting acoustic field around the rocket head on the length of the horizontal section of the gas duct is noted.
