The recent rapid development in information systems (ISs) has resulted in a critical need for integration and interoperability between heterogeneous ISs in various domains, using specific commonalities. However, stovepipe systems have been caused due to inconsistencies in planning IS architecture among stakeholders. So far, there has been no research on an enterprise architecture framework (EAF) that can satisfy with the coefficient factors of system architecture (SA) and enterprise architecture (EA). This paper proposes a new EAF that can resolve the problems inherent in existing legacy EAFs and their features. EAFoC (Enterprise Architecture Framework based on Commonality) is based on commonality that can be satisfied as the coefficient factors in both SA and EA within a common information technology (IT) domain. Thus, it should be possible to integrate an established heterogeneous framework for each stakeholder's view. Consequently, the most important contribution of this paper is to establish the appropriate EAFoC for the development of consistent IS architecture, smooth communication among stakeholders, systematic integration management of diversified and complicated new IT technologies, interoperability among heterogeneous ISs, and reusability based on commonality with other platforms.

The general architecture of adaptive robotic systems for manufacturing applications

The United States Air Force (USAF) is implementing an integrated net-centric system of systems for airborne operations in support of the global war on terror (GWOT). The GWOT demands that a successful architecture framework transforms and delivers net-centric assets to the war-fighter in a timely manner. A critical component of this implementation is the transformation of legacy strategic air platforms into net-centric air power assets operating within a system of systems. The System Architectural (SA) framework, and the Department of Defense Architectural Framework (DoDAF) are ways of managing complexity and organizing information within a system of systems network. This paper will explore and compare these architectural frameworks; show examples used in a system of systems network; and illustrate how the DoDAF can successfully define the transformation of a legacy weapon system into a net-centric asset.

Several countries are currently adopting enterprise architecture (EA) systems, such as Zachman AF (ZF), C4ISR AF, SBA, and FEAF, in order to solve various IS problems in the field of information technology, but enterprise architecture framework (EAF) legacy systems can be inadequate to solve problems arising from stovepipe systems. An EAF is required to satisfy aspects of both EA and system architecture (SA) inside a common information technology (IT) domain. This paper proposes a new enterprise architecture framework that will resolve the problems inherent in previous frameworks and their features.

A major cause of many complications in the field of software architectures is the lack of appropriate abstractions for separating, combining and encapsulating concerns of various kinds in architectural descriptions. Architectures of most complex software-intensive systems involve concerns that inherently crosscut the natural boundaries of the elements composing the architecture descriptions. Crosscutting concerns intersect the common modularity of systems as prescribed by their architecture descriptions, by traversing both the components and connectors, i.e., the relationships among the components. Crosscutting concerns are critical aspects of many architectural problems. However, architectural descriptions written in special-purpose languages (ADLs) like Wright, Darwin, Rapide and Acme should support descriptions of multiple structures, which include diagrams, models and views, that intentionally address different kinds of concerns. ADLs should show how various concerns affect each other in architectural designs; they should also allow one to identify, analyze and elaborate architectural concerns that cut across several software components, such as transactions, security, load balancing, synchronization, reuse, customization, scalability, etc.; they should, but they do not. This dissertation presents a new approach to software architecture that is suitable for supporting concern-oriented development and documentation of architectures for software-intensive systems. This approach allows for creating and documenting a multidimensional software structure that is referred to as concern-oriented software architecture; it provides new mechanisms for encapsulating individual concerns into independent architectural constructs. The ultimate goal of this new approach is to provide support for achieving design by concerns all through the development and description of software architectures. Moving towards this goal, we present a particular concern-oriented architectural framework called Perspectival Concern-Spaces (PCS). The PCS Framework offers a flexible and extensible means a) for supporting advanced separation of concerns in architectural design, and in the construction and evolution of software-intensive systems; and b) for filling the gap between architectural descriptions and modern software development artifacts. To show the feasibility of the proposed approach, we provide new modeling techniques that are used to describe and apply an aspect-oriented architectural pattern, called the On-demand Remodularization pattern. We give several examples of how the PCS Framework can be used to integrate concern-oriented architectural documentations with mainstream software development artifacts.

A software architecture for the virtual construction of structures

Beginning in 1990, the University of Arizona, Arizona Remote Sensing Center (ARSC) has been involved in a collaborative effort with the Global Information and Early Warning System (GIEWS) and the Remote Sensing Center of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations in designing and developing an integrated computer workstation for famine early warning. The goal of the project is to provide food security analysts with a set of computer tools to manage a very large and diverse set of data for predicting the onset of food security emergencies for every country on Earth. The initial stage of the project involved the conceptual definition of system elements and the development of overall system architecture. We are now developing an open, flexible, and portable system designed to significantly assist the work of the analysts. System architecture provides a task-specific and user-friendly graphic user interface (GUI) within a Windows environment that will link image processing, geographic information system (GIS), spreadsheet, text, and graphics software packages into a single operational environment. A relational database management system (RDBMS) is serving as the back-end of the workstation to facilitate data storage and retrieval and as a means to preserve analysis methodologies.

The subject of the article is the processes of the automated analysis of server logs of software systems using Natural Language Processing methods. The goal is to develop an approach to improve the efficiency of log analysis by applying NLP algorithms and text compression methods. The tasks to be solved are: to study the features of logs as a source of technical information; to analyze modern methods of text data processing, including statistical, vector-based, and neural network approaches; to justify the feasibility of using NLP algorithms for automating log analysis; to substantiate the use of text compression methods to reduce data volume; and to develop a concept and architecture of an automated log analysis system. The methods used include: Natural Language Processing techniques such as TF-IDF, Word2Vec, FastText, and transformer-based models; text preprocessing methods; log compression and log template extraction approaches; and information retrieval methods applied to text corpora. The following results were obtained. A concept of an automated server log analysis system based on NLP methods and text compression algorithms was developed. A generalized system architecture was proposed, including modules for log collection, storage, filtering, preprocessing, text compression, NLP analysis, incident representation, and solution search. An algorithm for system operation was developed, providing step-by-step log processing while taking into account the textual nature and large volume of data. It was established that the use of NLP methods improves the accuracy of error detection and incident classification, while text compression reduces the computational load and increases system performance. Conclusions. The proposed approach improves the efficiency of software diagnostics, reduces the time required for error detection and resolution, and decreases the workload on developers. The scientific novelty of the obtained results lies in the following: an approach to automated log analysis combining NLP methods and text compression techniques was developed; a generalized architecture of a log analysis system that considers the specifics of unstructured textual data was proposed; existing log processing methods were further developed through the integration of modern NLP models with data volume optimization stages, which improves analysis efficiency in conditions of large-scale information flows

Coverage and synthesis of large dynamic flow of content are continuously generating Internet media requires qualitatively new methods / approaches of search as a content monitoring.Objective. The work purpose is to develop content forming and anlizing method in online newspaper for the active involvement of regular users of news and information resource increase audytoryii target. The objective is to develop a system to distribute music news using content monitoring method for creation and content anlizing in information resource of online newspaper.Method. Input information for content-monitoring is a natural language into a sequence of symbols, background information – a partition table, sentences and tokens analyzed text. Content monitoring is a software tool for automation of the important components in the flow of content. This is meaningful analysis of streams of content for the purpose of obtaining the necessary permanent qualitative / quantitative sections within pre-defined period of time not. Content monitoring component is content search and content analysis of the text. Content analysis designed to search for content in an array of data for linguistic semantic units. The unit of account is a quantitative measure of the unit of analysis that allows you to record the frequency (regularity) symbol appears in the text analysis category (number of certain words or combinations of lines, characters, pages, paragraphs, copyright sheets of text area, etc.).Results. The problem of current research and development of methods and means of processing information resources information systems intellectual formation content with the use of the classification, mathematical and software and the generalized system architecture are solved. The necessity of methods and means development of information resources processing in intelligent information systems forming content by improving the system architecture to automate processes of formation, management and implementation of content.Conclusions. The content analysis use in monitoring Internet data sources automates the finding process of the most important components in content flow in data selection from these sources. This eliminates duplicate content information noise, parasitic content redundancy results and more. This method is used in subsequent stages of content for more accurate relevant results – create a unique content that is in demand.

Wearable Health Devices (WHDs) are increasingly helping people to better monitor their health status both at an activity/fitness level for self-health tracking and at a medical level providing more data to clinicians with a potential for earlier diagnostic and guidance of treatment. The technology revolution in the miniaturization of electronic devices is enabling to design more reliable and adaptable wearables, contributing for a world-wide change in the health monitoring approach. In this paper we review important aspects in the WHDs area, listing the state-of-the-art of wearable vital signs sensing technologies plus their system architectures and specifications. A focus on vital signs acquired by WHDs is made: first a discussion about the most important vital signs for health assessment using WHDs is presented and then for each vital sign a description is made concerning its origin and effect on heath, monitoring needs, acquisition methods and WHDs and recent scientific developments on the area (electrocardiogram, heart rate, blood pressure, respiration rate, blood oxygen saturation, blood glucose, skin perspiration, capnography, body temperature, motion evaluation, cardiac implantable devices and ambient parameters). A general WHDs system architecture is presented based on the state-of-the-art. After a global review of WHDs, we zoom in into cardiovascular WHDs, analysing commercial devices and their applicability versus quality, extending this subject to smart t-shirts for medical purposes. Furthermore we present a resumed evolution of these devices based on the prototypes developed along the years. Finally we discuss likely market trends and future challenges for the emerging WHDs area.

In this paper, we propose a P4-based Data Plane Programmability and Exposure framework (DPPx), which allows to enhance Network Function Virtualization (NFV) services. Network functions can be offloaded from VMs to the virtualized network infrastructure. We present a general approach, system architecture and use cases enabled by DPPx. The DPPx framework has been preliminarily evaluated in a testbed environment as a prototype implementation based on OpenStack Neutron, P4 language and BMv2 software switch.

Framework for interoperable service architecture development

IEEE Standard 1471 identifies sound practices to establish a framework and vocabulary for software architecture concepts.In 2000, the Computer Society approved IEEE Standard 1471, which documents a consensus on good architectural description practices. Five core concepts and relationships provide the foundation for the approved IEEE 1471 version: every system has an architecture, but an architecture is not a system; an architecture and an architecture description are not the same thing; architecture standards, descriptions, and development processes can differ and be developed separately; architecture descriptions are inherently multiviewed; and separating the concept of an object's view from its specification is an effective way to write architecture description standards. IEEE 1471 focuses on both software intensive systems and more general systems, such as information systems, embedded systems, systems-of-systems, product lines, and product families in which software plays a substantial role in development, operation, or evolution.

The development of architectures for control systems has been an active area of research for at least twenty years. This research has produced many different architectures which use different terminologies and address different issues. In order to analyse existing architectures and to determine issues that must be addressed in defining a new one, a common terminology for discussing architectures and a framework for organizing information about architectures is needed. Based upon an examination of many control architectures in the areas of computer integrated manufacturing and robotics, the authors propose a terminology for discussing control architectures and a framework for constructing control architectures. The authors have used the terminology and framework to develop a set of issues which need to be addressed when constructing a control architecture. These issues have been used to compare two architectures developed at National Institute of Standards and Technology. This paper presents the terminology, the framework, and issues related to constructing an architecture using the framework.

This paper describes the application of an Architectural Framework and System Architecture in the Rail and Road infrastructure. This is illustrated by addressing the state of the art of Systems Engineering in this domain, how the need for system architecture became apparent and finally what architecture framework was chosen and how that was applied in a real life rail example. The paper concludes with a view on the next steps to be taken to further mature the Architecture Framework and resulting system architectures.The main focus of this paper is on architecture for Rail Infrastructure systems, with some references to road infrastructure system.
