Pros Sem Nas Masy Biodiv Indon 1 (2): 383-387. A limited supply of feed, in addition to baby chicks, is on of main problems in quail poultry. More than 80% of the total cost is spent on feed expenditure. Furthermore, farmers are suffering from the highly fluctuating price of the feed which is mostly supplied by big companies. It is, therefore, necessary to develop a new alternative of feed for quail farms from local resources. The purpose of research is to determine the type and amount of feed compositions required accordingly by the quails. Local resources were used, thus reducing the feeding cost, which consequently would increase the revenues. Furthermore, this might also open business opportunity in poultry feed industry. This research was conducted using trial and error method, by categorizing some local feed resources, then analyzing the composition of the feed. This study has obtained feed ingredients and composition which are suitable for quail farms. The feed is composed of corn flour, fine bran, coconut meat, and fish meal. In conclusion, the use of local feed resources in appropriate composition can increase revenue by 34.56%, thus the local resources can be used as raw materials for quail farm feed.

This community service program aims to improve the nutritional intake of stunted children and pregnant women through corn cracker product innovation and to optimize the utilization of local natural resources in Pante Rakyat Village, Babah Rot District, Southwest Aceh Regency. The prevalence of stunting in the region serves as the background for implementing this program, where corn as a local commodity has the potential to become an affordable nutritious food solution. The activities were conducted using Participatory Action Research (PAR) methodology, involving 30 housewives and posyandu (integrated health post) cadres in a series of activities including: (1) observation and identification of local potential, (2) nutrition and stunting education, (3) corn cracker production training, and (4) production and distribution assistance. Results showed that 90% of participants responded positively to the program and were able to independently apply corn cracker processing technology. Nutritional content analysis revealed that the produced corn crackers contain carbohydrates (72.3%), protein (6.8%), and essential minerals such as calcium and iron that are beneficial for child growth and maternal health. Beyond health benefits, this program successfully increased active community participation in efforts to reduce stunting rates and created new entrepreneurial opportunities through the utilization of local agricultural products. Program sustainability was ensured through the establishment of a joint business group mentored by the service team. It is concluded that the development of corn cracker products contributes significantly to improving the nutritional status of stunted children and pregnant women, while promoting community economic empowerment through the utilization of local natural resources.

The program is implemented in the Dasuk County in Sumenep Regency with two goals major producer of cashew Beringin village and Jilbudan village. The program IBW has a purpose: 1) to increase welfare better society through the utilization of local resources that have economic value, 2) increasing the skills and professionalism of people, 3) increase the capacity of cashew farming communities to diversifying the product, 4) the formation of economic business community and institutions that are structured to cashew farmers. The project used two approaches, Training and mentoring approach. Training approach include: 1) entrepreneurial training; 2) skills training for women and youth based on local resources; 3) training appearance and diversifying the cultivation of cashew products professionally and 4) marketing training through the web and on-line. While this method of assistance include: 1) facilitation of technology transfer for the production of cashew cultivation; 2) facilitation of technology transfer diversifying cashew products in a professional manner; 3) mentoring network strengthening marketing activities and 4) institutional strengthening assistance. Expected outcomes of this program for the second year of this is establishing erpreneurship on society, increasing the skills of women and youth with the waste cashew shell, processed products jam and candied cashews, waste cashew to feed the livestock through several processes of ensiling, the manufacture of the product label and cashew packaging technology products, the establishment of farmer networks

Implementing a multimodal intervention using local resources to improve hand hygiene compliance in a comprehensive specialized hospital in Mekelle, Northern Ethiopia

As an innovative solution to social issues and a driver of the local economy, sociopreneurship holds crucial relevance in strategic areas such as the national strategic tourism area of Borobudur. This study aims to analyze the determining factors that influence individuals' decisions to become sociopreneurs in the area. Using Utility Theory and Neoclassical Labor Choice Theory, the study applies a quantitative approach with a probit regression model. Primary data were analyzed from 140 respondents (sociopreneurs and non-sociopreneurs) selected through purposive sampling. The main results indicate that age, training, community participation, number of workers, and local resources have a significant positive effect. Conversely, the use of production technology has a negative effect, while capital and formal education factors are not significant. The main conclusion suggests that the decision to become a sociopreneur is driven by a balance of social and economic utility, not simply capital. The implications of this research recommend strengthening policies focused on community-based training and utilization of local resources

The high-quality implementation of ideological and political teaching is inseparable from the effective utilization of social resources. Flexible, reasonable and effective development and utilization of local social resources can not only enrich the teaching content, help students improve their understanding of textbook knowledge, but also help to achieve the educational goal of "building morality and cultivating people", and broaden the way to cultivate students' core literacy and ability. It is an unshirkable responsibility and mission to infiltrate local cultural resources in ideological and political teaching in junior middle school. The acquisition of knowledge needs to be based on real situational experience. Therefore, fully excavating textbook resources, carefully selecting situational types, designing situational problems, allowing students to render emotions in situations and enhancing rational thinking in perceptual experience are effective ways to implement red education in ideological and political courses in junior middle school.

Food is an essential human need. Local food resources, as variations in food consumption society, has been displaced by the food pattern of rice and wheat. This challenge, which requires innovation and transformation of the physical form of local food to be liked by the community and value-added food technology process. This study describes the management of the local food chain from upstream - downstream. The result, that the number of farms in Temanggung Regency, declined 9,05% during 2003-2013. Influence on output, the decline in cattle population is 33,59%. The potential of local food resources are corn, potatoes and cassava. Marketing, slash sold at harvest, because of the practical. A small portion is used as a raw material by the snack food industry domestic industry. Type snack food industry locally grown is cassava chips (most, 17 locations), and a banana chips / taro chips. Marketing is done by a small proportion of women farmer group members, which is deposited on the stalls / shops, restaurants and outlets instistusi cooperative government. Promotion is done through exhibitions in various cities. Models utilization of local food resources, can not be separated from the role of chairman of the entrepreneurial group. While members of the group as a support in the production and marketing process. Value chain and the policies that need to be prepared : the provision of quality seeds of local food as a source of raw materials by agricultural institutions, food processing technology by industry and academia, capital by cooperatives, promotion and marketing by the field of trade.

Intelligent simulation of aquatic environment economic policy coupled ABM and SD models

This research stems from the low utilization of local potential-based biology learning resources in schools, despite their importance in deepening biological understanding, shaping student character, and fostering environmental awareness, amid growing challenges like resource exploitation, land use change, and climate change. This study aims to assess how effective biology learning resources based on local potential affect student attitudes and learning outcomes by conducting a systematic literature review and meta-analysis using the PRISMA method on articles published between 2013 and 2024. The main data source came from Google Scholar, focusing on articles discussing the utilization of local potential as a learning resource. The uniqueness of this method lies in the categorization of articles based on dependent variables, namely student attitudes and learning outcomes. The data were analyzed descriptively for attitude variables and quantitatively using Cohen's d formula to measure the effect size on learning outcomes for articles with adequate data. The results of the analysis showed that local potential-based learning significantly impacted positively on students' attitudinal changes (including environmental awareness and conservation) and improved cognitive learning outcomes, as seen from high N-gain and effect size values. These findings support the application of contextual and constructivist approaches that are in line with the Merdeka Curriculum, which emphasizes the importance of strengthening character and sustainability. In conclusion, learning resources based on local potential can improve learning quality and shape students with character and environmental awareness, while strengthening empirical evidence on contextual biology education and learning based on local wisdom.

The values of discharge of circulating (waste) waters of different quality categories in surface water objects by regions of Ukraine are analyzed. For maintaining the natural equilibrium of aquatic ecosystems the indicators of actual and limit necessary of the multiplicity of dilution of circulating (waste) waters of different quality categories by local river runoff are calculated and analyzed. The values of the limit assimilative capacity of surface water objects, which can accept a certain amount of circulating (waste) waters without violating their ecological stability, is determined. The characteristics of the level of assimilative capacity utilization of local river runoff resources of different degrees of water availability are calculated and given. It has been established that in the years with average water availability the level of use of the assimilative capacity of local river runoff resources of the Nikolaev, Kharkiv and Kherson regions is characterized as “moderate”, and Odessa – as “high”. In the years with a very low river water content, the level of use of the assimilative capacity of surface water bodies in Kiev, Kirovograd, Luhansk, Lviv, Sumy and Cherkasy regions is rated as “moderate”, Mykolaiv and Kharkiv – as “high”, Kherson and Odessa – as “very high”. Regardless of the level of provision with local river runoff, the index of the use of the assimilative capacity of water resources in Zaporizhia, Donetsk, and Dnipropetrovsk regions exceeds the threshold value (IAC = 1) by 10.35–99 times.

Globally increasing intensity and frequency of disasters disproportionately affect rural populations, who are particularly vulnerable to damage. Disasters also have far-reaching impacts on the built environment and lead to significant economic losses required for the post-disaster reconstruction of houses and infrastructure. Housing plays a crucial role in fostering sustainability and well-being in people’s lives. If houses are damaged, individuals are compelled to reside in evacuation shelters or temporary residences for extended periods, hindering the potential for sustainable livelihoods and quality of life. This study examines various factors, such as mutual cooperation, local resource utilization, topographical considerations, and seasonal influences, aimed at fostering effective post-disaster housing reconstruction in rural communities in developing countries. A questionnaire survey including key informant interviews was conducted in the affected areas to collect the primary data. The study also incorporates additional information, such as government policies for post-disaster housing reconstruction and physical observation of the affected areas. The collected information is analyzed using descriptive statistics, including data visualization. The study found that households that primarily utilized local resources and engaged in mutual assistance, such as labor exchange, were able to accelerate their reconstruction efforts. The study includes discussions about utilizing local resources and mutual cooperation for prompt reconstruction and the scope for future research on post-disaster reconstruction in rural areas.

Utilization of available local resources is essential in primary health care. The Genus Acalypha belongs to the family Euphobiaccae. It consists of many species of diverse medicinal uses. The plant is found in different geopolitical zones of Nigeria. Extract of Acalypha hispida leaves were examined for their antibacterial effect on Escherichia coli (ATCC 28923), Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 28923), Enterococcus faecalis (ATCC 29212) and Bacillus subtilis (ATCC 6051). Staphylococcus aureus was more susceptible to the effect of A. hispida in susceptibility studies while E. faecalis which has the lowest ranges of suppression appeared to be more resistant. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of the extract ranged between 20mg/ml and 35mg/ml. The diameter of zone of inhibition of the extract increased with increase in extraction temperature from 28°C to 80°C when the extract was maintained at these temperatures for 1h. The optimal temperature of extraction for maximum activity of the extract was 80°C while the optimum extraction concentration for maximum activity was 30% (w/v). The extract was thermostable at 45°C temperature. The consequence of the plant extract on the microorganisms suggests that it could be useful in chemotherapy

Cloud computing, after its success as a commercial infrastructure, is now emerging as a private infrastructure. The software platforms available to build private cloud computing infrastructure vary in their performance for management of cloud resources as well as in utilization of local physical resources. Organizations and individuals looking forward to reaping the benefits of private cloud computing need to understand which software platform would provide the efficient services and optimum utilization of cloud resources for their target applications. In this paper, we present our initial study on performance evaluation and comparison of three cloud computing software platforms from the perspective of common cloud users who intend to build their private clouds. We compare the performance of the selected software platforms from several respects describing their suitability for applications from different domains. Our results highlight the critical parameters for performance evaluation of a software platform and the best software platform for different application domains.

The current study addresses the role that entrepreneurship can play in tourism development and sustainable economic growth in the most economically underprivileged rural regions. Rural economies face all the challenges discussed above, compounded by poor infrastructure and insufficient access to capital and serious out-migration. Here, tourism entrepreneurship is one of the main hopes for economic rejuvenation based on the utilization of rich local natural and cultural resources by setting up businesses that attract visitors, stimulate the job creation, and support regional heritage conservation (Mosiiuk et al., 2023; Mpofu, 2024). This paper will draw from empirical studies and theoretical perspectives on how rural tourism initiatives by entrepreneurs can be supported or become a driver of sustainable development in the context of finding a balance among economic growth, environmental concern, and social equity. Among others, the following questions will be explored: what effect entrepreneurship has on rural tourism sustainability, challenges and opportunities faced by rural entrepreneurs, and what role policy plays in facilitating tourism-based entrepreneurship. The findings show how entrepreneurship’s economic adaptation can make a difference in disadvantaged rural areas and put forward recommendations for effective policy interventions that may contribute to the development of sustainable tourism, centered on and focused on local communities.

Internationally, academics and social organizations have emphasized the incorporation of the perspective of children and adolescents in the design, evaluation, and execution of environmental education activities. This study sought to identify those contextual factors that influence the implementation of participatory actions in environmental education. An online survey was applied to 78 teachers, non-formal educators, administrators, researchers and journalists involved in environmental education. Through thematic content analysis, 17 determinants of implementation were identified, highlighting the traditional education model, cultural patterns, willing and social support, time, resources, and organizational drivers. It is argued that beyond macro and meso structural conditions, the implementation of these actions falls on a greater measure in the self-efficacy of the people involved in education, as well as in their possibility to manage the implementation conditions and obstacles.
