Nowadays, the management and safety control of large dams is generally based on automatic monitoring, including the so-called seismic and structural health monitoring systems (SSHM), using the latest technology for automatic data measurement, acquisition and transmission. These systems should include software for automatic management and analysis of continuous monitoring data and software for numerical simulation of the dam dynamic behavior using 3D finite element models. This software should be designed to provide useful and reliable information to meet the needs and expectations of stakeholders, and to support the studies of researchers and engineers responsible for structural health monitoring. This paper is focused on the experience gathered from the SSHM system of Cabril dam, a 132 m high-arch dam, in Portugal, that has been under continuous dynamic monitoring since 2008. The importance of the software specifically developed for automatic modal identification, automatic detection of seismic vibrations (distinct from vibrations due to the operation of discharge gates and power groups), and automatic comparison between experimental data and computed results from a reference finite element model of the dam-reservoir-foundation system, is highlighted. This software includes: (1) the generation of graphics with the evolution of the identified natural frequencies over time and the comparison with calculated frequencies using different hypothesis for concrete damage evolution; and (2) a service to automatically send emails summarizing key dynamic monitoring results to stakeholders to provide the necessary support for informed management and engineering decision making. The main results from SSHM of Cabril dam are presented, namely regarding the evolution of modal parameter over time, considering the influence of water level variations, and the measured response during an earthquake event.

In this paper we use the wireless Android smart network to control data collection network of wireless sensor networks, and establish the wireless sensor network data acquisition model based on particle swarm layout algorithm, and design the data signal receiving algorithm by introducing wireless fence monitoring method. In order to verify the reliability and applicability of the algorithm, we compare the particle swarm layout algorithm with PSO, random distribution and genetic algorithm. Through experiments, data gathering integrity of particle swarm layout algorithm reaches 96%, the time of data acquisition is 1258 seconds, the iterative number is 12587 times. It is the best of the three algorithms. It provides a theoretical reference for the research on data acquisition and control technology of wireless sensor network.

Data Acquisition and Interface Technology is a compulsory course for the major of measurement and control technology and instrument in Southwest Petroleum University, and it is a basic course combining theory and practice closely. The traditional experiment teaching is limited by various conditions. Students can only complete the specific experiment content with limited experiment equipment in limited time and place. It is an effective way to solve the above problems by introducing virtual simulation technology to construct the remote measure and control experiment platform to carry on the reform of the traditional experiment teaching mode. The remote measurement and control platform uses virtual technology to form the test function into a software module with image-realistic panel controls, to complete the test and processing tasks as if doing experiments in the laboratory, to move the experiment teaching into the classroom, to move into the network and life, and to realize the perfect fusion of theory and practice. It has been proved that the application of the remote measurement and control platform in the experimental teaching of the course of Data Acquisition and Interface Technology can improve the teaching effect. Moreover, the cost is low and the efficiency is high, so that students cannot be limited by time and space, improve their self-learning ability and practical innovation ability, which is of great significance in the teaching of the course of measurement and control technology.

A system of computer programs and hardware was developed by the Instrumentation Branch of the Morgantown Energy Technology Center (METC) to provide data acquisition and control features for research projects at the site. The Automatic Data Acquisition and Control System (ADACS) has the capability of servicing up to eight individual projects simultaneously, providing data acquisition, data feedback, and process control where needed. Several novel software features - including a data table driven program, extensive feedback in real time, free format English commands, and high reliability - were incorporated to provide these functions.

While it takes long time to obtain the analysis result from data acquisition at the site in the seismic refraction exploration, there have often been the cases to require analysis data in a short time To meet such requirement, we try to construct the system to cover at job site not only data acquisition but also automatic first arrival picking and automatic analysis for refraction method. As for the automatic first arrival picking, we utilize Akaike’s Information Criterion (AIC) that internationally became recognized in the latter half of 1980’s for subsequent application to various fields. Except for some exceptional cases, our trials for automatic first arrival picking program under various measurement conditions have resulted in successful confirmation to determine the first break arrival time accurately in a short time Meantime. the result of analysis we conducted with the data actually acquired at several site with different velocity structures one another has clarified that the result not contradictory to the analysis result according to the conventional method can be acquired in a short time in most cases. In addition, the raypath calculation can be made to check and evaluate the appropriateness of the analysis result.

Digital oil field is a terminology that frequently appeared in the last few years. In the era of industry 4.0 and the proliferation of digital technology, oil and gas companies need to adapt in order to gain advantage in business process development, and this term is the answer. In digital oil field, data is significantly valuable. Therefore, robust database and real time data monitoring need to be developed. Pertamina EP has established a robust, easy-to-access, and web-based database application called Operational Data Repository (ODR). This application handles end-to-end business process from exploration all the way to commercial. Several modules were integrated for this application and the main modules consist of exploration, exploitation, production, finance, safety and commercial. For every module in ODR, the first task to carry is to create and input master data. After database is created, calculation according to module's purpose is performed. Once the system is there, automatic data acquisition and monitoring will enter the picture. Exploration module in ODR handles database of Pertamina EP exploration activities. This module include lithology, biostratigraphy, and geochemical data of exploration project in Pertamina EP. This module ensures that initial data of a structure is preserved and available. Exploitation module deals with oil and gas reserves and resources reporting process, well proposal for annual work plan, and surface project monitoring. This module rules development phase from subsurface to surface. Production module shows daily operational activities, production data, and quadrant mapping of wells productivity. Data from this module is taken for evaluating production and operation performance. Finance module handles company's financial report, including revenue, expense, and tax. Safety module handles work permit, hazard identification, risk assessment and control for every project and work plan. Safety is a very important aspect in a company and this module ensures that documents needed to perform work safely is well-documented and easy to submit and access. Last but not least is commercial module. This module consists of gas sales agreement documents (GSA), metering system location, and customer complaints monitoring. ODR has already been well-established, therefore Pertamina EP started its pilot project for automatic data acquisition for eight wells and currently on monitoring phase. This paper describes Pertamina EP first step to digital oil field, which is developing virtual warehouse to store company's data. The step is strengthened with attempting for automatic data acquisition that will be integrated to the ODR for the next phase.

A general iterative method for locating the global minimum of an error functional ф = (s-ŝ.)T (s-ŝ) in the presence of a multitude of local minima is presented. It relies on the introduction of a square matrix W in data space whose off-diagonal elements can be exploited for inducing continuously adjustable correlation between the residuals by way of ф’ = (s-ŝ.)T W(s-ŝ). The general structure of W is derived from symmetry, boundary and continuity requirements. In spectroscopic applications the vector s in data space consists of n digitized signal intensities si and the theoretical model is expressed as a function ŝ = f (p, ω)) of a discrete vector p in parameter space and a continuous frequency variable ω. The solution has been fully worked out for NMR spectra (high-resolution isotropic; anisotropic; exchange-broadened), including practical aspects such as automated data acquisition, data format conversion, pretruncation, baseline flattening, smoothing and posttruncation, and will be illustrated by a variety of examples.

Digital phased array antennas (DPAAs) have been widely used in modern radar systems. The flexible production and testing of large-scale DPAAs are becoming a hot research topic. The dedicated calibration elements are passive because they do not have transmitter and receiver modules. These elements cannot be used to test DPAAs. In this paper, we design a multichannel automatic test and data acquisition system for DPAAs. Our motivation is to use the system to verify the correctness and stability of an entire DPAA. The system can achieve snapshot data acquisition of 1152 optical fibers, and it can also process echo data in real time by digital beam forming (DBF) and record the processing results. At present, the system has been put into production for testing of large-scale DPAAs, and it can test the DPAA flexibly and steadily.

The performance and output of PV cells depends upon different factors: irradiance, shaded modules, shadow, temperature, inverter capability, wind speed, wind direction and the number of PV installed are one of them. Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) is required to control various effects caused by one of the aforementioned factors. Researchers have employed many MPPT techniques. However, these techniques showed some limitations such as slow response and inability to be remotely controlled. This has been observed during the higher number of PV grid connected inverters installed in some regions of Rwanda where the power generated via peak conditions sometimes exceeds the transmission capacity limits. In this case, the classical MPPT cannot respond efficiently. With the aim to alleviate these issues, the paper uses perturb and observe MPPT with SCADA viewer software so that inverter can operate with its design limits. This involves the de-rating and control of inverter capability curve. The derating and control of an inverter capability curve are one of strategies to mitigate the above-mentioned problem in order to stabilize voltage and restricts harmonic current injection to utility grid. This paper shows a designed model that was simulated in Matlab with MPPT which is perturb and observe (P&O) and experimentally validated. In addition to Rwanda utility grid, the experimental set up used a SCADA viewer and communication tools to acquire data concerning the PV system. This allowed to perform the following tasks: automatic data acquisition, notification of voltage variation and display active and reactive power being sent or being consumed, grid fault detection, islanded mode detection and remotely shut down the system as long as Wide Local Area Network (WLAN) is present. The experimental results showed that any design of grid connected inverter having any type of MPPT technique must have a capability curve to figure out the operating zones of the inverter in different circumstances and specified the tolerance range of crucial parameters with its validation through SCADA viewer software.

Solar One has been instrumented with sensors for weather data system temperatures and pressures, house electrical loads, and photovoltaic system data. An automatic data acquisition and handling system has been designed and installed to gather and then transmit data to a central computer. Programs to summarize these data and tabulate them in convenient forms have been prepared. Initial data have been obtained and analyzed to check the sensor system and to give preliminary performance characteristics of the solar system. (WDM)

It is a great challenge to inspect the quality of portable DVD (P-DVD) automatically during the mass production procedure. Inspecting a P-DVD needs such technologies as the automatic control on P-DVD, the automatic data acquisition, the digital signal processing of the audio and video signals, the channels switching and the user-friendly man machine interfaces. Based on Visual Basic.NET, this contribution has developed an automatic inspecting system for P-DVD quality control. To achieve high speed online inspection, the system chooses two high speed acquisition modules, two I/O PCI cards and a PC workstation as the platform. The quality of the video signal, audio signal, and voltage signal are analyzed and estimated. Then some technologies like the data acquisition, the control on DVD, the Switch Module, the GDI+ graphics programming and the multithreading programming technologies are employed. The developed automatic inspecting system in this paper has been applied to a P-DVD workshop floor in Dalian, China and has achieved satisfactory results.

In this report we describe the new two-phase flow facility that has been constructed at Brown University. Included is the design philosophy that led us to select a blow-down, Freon tunnel as the means of studying the flow of a pure substance undergoing liquid-vapor phase changes. Each component is discussed from the initial design considerations, through sizing calculations, to actual system specifications. Special emphasis is placed on the instrumentation and automatic data acquisition and processing system. Finally a sampling of results obtained so far is presented. Section 1 gives the reasons for the construction of the facility and lists some of the uses and objectives of its operation. The reader can gain a good overview of the facility from Section 2 without a great deal of detail. In Section 3 we present the rationale for the particular design choices that were made and give details about the selection and sizing of all major components except the instrumentation. The latter subject is treated in Section 4 where we discuss the temperature and pressure probes, mass flow rate measurement, and other instrumentation. Section 5 is devoted to the test section proper where all the two-phase flow measurements and observations take place. The electronic data acquisition and facility control system is the subject of Section 6. Results on two-phase friction factors and flow pattern observations in a horizontal pipe are given in Section 7 along with the ranges of flow that have been covered so far. In capsule summary, the two-phase flow test facility is operational and has demonstrated a wide range of flow conditions from purely liquid to purely vapor through a variety of two-phase situations. Only horizontal flows have been studied so far, but the test section has been designed to operate in inclined positions up to fully vertical. The instrumentation performs very well as does the fully automatic control system. We believe the test facility is capable of yielding highly reliable and accurate data on two-phase flows which will be of great value in practice and in validating the various theories that have been put forth to describe this phenomenon.

Nowadays, information is the most important factor for any manufacturing enterprise. Information helps a manufacturer to make decisions about management, production, operation, maintenance, and repair. Information technology is a key for enterprises who are realising integrated manufacturing all over the world. Data acquisition is the backbone of information technology. Data acquisition technology is the product of the fusion and interaction of many technologies. It is necessary to develop new data acquisition technology and methods by using the recently produced research results. It is also important for realising manufacturing automation, promoting product quality, and enhancing the competitive ability of an enterprise. In this paper, we first analyse three common kinds of data acquisition mode and their features used in manufacturing systems. Then, based on the background of manufacturing automation, agents and distributed artificial intelligent technology, which form a new data acquisition model framework suitable for an advanced manufacturing system, is proposed, and some details about this new model are discussed. Two examples of this model used in manufacturing systems are then given to show the availability and correctness of this model framework. We conclude with current research results in this area and give an outline of future work.
