A Computer Program for Drip Irrigation System Design for Small Plots

High blood pressure and its pathologies are among the main diseases suffered by Mexicans. Many people may consider themselves prone by inheritance or lifestyle, so monitoring this biometry could help for early diagnosis. As part of the treatment, hypertensive people must keep a record that the doctor can consult periodically about the behavior of the patient blood pressure. In this work, a prototype that automatically takes blood pressure and communicates the data to a PC through a graphical user interface (GUI) in MATLAB is proposed. The values of systolic and diastolic pressures set from the prototype were compared against measurements using a digital wrist baumanometer, obtaining a percentage error less than 4%. Therefore, it can be concluded that the prototype gives not only precise, but also exact values of blood pressure.

The recently proposed exothermic chemical reaction based tumor hyperthermia method presented a new way of realizing truly minimally invasive treatment for tumor. This method utilizes heat generated from the reaction between acid and alkali solutions to allow for tumor ablation. Successful clinical implementation of this method requires a clearer understanding and quantification of the ablation area such that a more controllable operation can be made. A number of in-vitro and in-vivo experiments are designed to examine the features of thermal chemo-ablation therapy which include micro and macro characteristics of ablated tissue and temperature change during the ablation process. A Quantitative study on the relationship between velocity and ablation volume as well as a Graphical User Interface in Matlab for computerized ablation area analysis are also presented in this article. We present in here two instrument designs for thermal chemo-ablation and have completed the prototype design for the injection pump which has been tested and successfully applied in ex-vivo and vivo experiments.

The platform can strengthen students' understanding on important and difficult knowledge points and thus can help to improve teaching quality and efficiency in class.

A computer model EUSS (Emission Uniformity on Sloping Surfaces) has been developed to design and evaluate the system capacity under operating conditions for drip irrigation system. And achieve the desired value of emission uniformity that is not significantly different according to the recommended values by applying it in field experiment located at Al- -Slahia city, Egypt. The model has the ability to design the system by all of the common design techniques and have ability to customize any of them. EUSS model includes two main parts: crop water requirements, and hydraulic calculations of the system using metric unit system. It developed in graphical user interface of the programming language C-sharp (C#) by using Microsoft Visual Studio. The model database is containing the equations, tables and reference values to get more rapid and accurate results, and gives the opportunity for selecting some parameters such as: soil properties, characteristics of the corresponding crop, and climatic data. EUSS model allows the user to assume or set definite values, for example plot layout, land slopes and topography, the emitter characteristics and operating conditions.

As the technology is growing day by day the world is adapting robotic for their comfort in daily life. So we have developed a GUI based, trainable robotic arm which is being automated for multipurpose industrial applications. The special feature which we are highlighting in our work is that, the arm is easily manipulated and has all in one solution for the certain range of pick and place application. The basic aim is to achieve the ability of commanding and controlling the arm through MATLAB Graphical User Interface (GUI) and to make the system more efficient. The designed system has been divided into 2 parts: (1) The AVR microcontroller has been programmed for the central controlling station which has GUI access and the arm control, and (2) to program the GUI for making the robot trainable and user-friendly. As it is a time-saving controlling method, we can use it for picking and placing the material over the conveyor assembly.

Modern irrigation water and nutrient management strategies improve crop yields and lead to optimum profits. The objective of the study was to evaluate effects of irrigation depths and potassium doses on production, quality and water use efficiency of tomato ( Lycopersicon esculentum Mills) under protected environment condition. The treatments consisted of irrigation water levels equivalent to 50, 75, 100, and 125% of crop water requirement (CWR) with potassium doses of 208, 416 and 624 kg ha -1 . A drip irrigation system was used for fertigation of potted Debora Plus tomato variety. Irrigation, potassium doses and its interaction with irrigation levels had significant effects on total, commercial and non commercial production. Marketable yields reached a maximum of 64.4 mg ha -1 at 416 kg ha -1 of potassium, produced at 75% CWR. This corresponded to an average irrigation rate of 4.72 mm day -1 . Higher potassium dose of 624 kg ha -1 depressed total and commercial yields. Tomato fruit pH values were between 4.0 and 4.5 for all treatments, while the highest total soluble solids were 9.2%, found with irrigation level of 75% CWR. Maximum water use efficiency was 12.4 kg m -3 of applied water, also obtained at 75% CWR. An irrigation reduction of 25% CWR could hence optimize water resources and save significant water quantities through improved efficiency of water applications to the plant.

NOTE: The first page of text has been automatically extracted and included below in lieu of an abstract INNOVATIVE TEACHING OF FOURIER SERIES USING LABVIEW Abstract Students often "glaze over" when detailed mathematical derivations are presented in class. Fourier series, the Fourier Integral and the FFT pose some significant mathematical derivations that can put any student to sleep – integrals, orthogonal functions and so on are only glamorous to the professor who relishes their derivation. However, the basic utilization of the Fourier series and FFT are very important to many applications. An understanding of their use is critical to a student's success in several different applications such as harmonic analysis, time and frequency response, and filtering. A lab exercise using LabVIEW is developed to demonstrate Fourier series and the FFT process along with harmonics and filtering. The students develop a graphical user interface (GUI) using LabVIEW to process simple sinusoidal signals, sum sine waves to approximate general signals (such as a square wave), take Fourier transforms, and present data in the time and frequency domain. Graphical controls (sliders or level gain) are used for both frequency and amplitude of the individual summed sine waves. The students are tasked to generate various types of waveforms and then compare the time and frequency outputs to assess the truncation of the series developed; the coefficients are then compared to the widely published Fourier series coefficients for each of the signals. Without requiring a rigorous mathematical development, the students gain first hand appreciation of the Fourier transformation process from a very intuitive, graphical process and, at the same time, learn important features of the LabVIEW software program. The assigned project allows the students to develop their own interface with the features that are intuitive to themselves rather than using a "canned" GUI to illustrate the Fourier series process. Tutorial material describing LabVIEW overview and individual tools needed are presented in class and available as voice annotated Flash file overview. Students have used both "canned" MATLAB GUIs and standard laboratory exercises using an actual FFT analyzer with signals generated by a function generator to observe the same phenomena. The students have overwhelmingly indicated that the individual development of the Fourier transformation via LabVIEW was a much better learning experience. In this paper, an educational software was developed using MATLAB and its Graphical User Interface (GUI). This interactive and user-friendly software focuses on three subjects which are electromagnetic, communication engineering and power engineering. The user uses MATLAB GUI in designing the educational software and compiled together with M-file program to develop a standalone program. Standalone program was created to ease the students to use this educational software without installing MATLAB software in their personal computer. This software may help user to get a better understanding on electrical engineering subjects such as electromagnetic, communication engineering and power engineering.

Purpose:To develop treatment planning workflow for rapid radiotherapy delivered with very‐high energy electron (VHEE) scanning beam.Methods:VHEE radiotherapy treatment planning was performed by linking Monte Carlo (MC) dose calculations with inverse optimization in a research version of RayStation. In order to study a number of treatment parameters, a Matlab graphical user interface (GUI) for calculation of VHEE beamlet dose was developed. Through the GUI, EGSnrc MC simulations were run for a number of beam energies, number of beams, beamlet spot and grid sizes, and machine bore sizes. VHEE plans for a pediatric patient with a 4.3 cm3 brain target optimized with spot‐scanning algorithm in RayStation were compared to the clinically delivered 6 MV VMAT plan.Results and Discussion:VHEE beam energy had the largest effect on the quality of dose distributions. For the same target dose, the mean doses to critical organs decreased by 10–15% when planned with 100 MeV compared to 60 MeV. VHEE plans calculated with 36 beams outperformed plans calculated with 13 and 17 beams. While beamlet spacing and bore size had a small effect on VHEE dose distributions, 0.1‐3mm beamlet sizes resulted in identical dose distributions. Critical organ doses were by up to 70% lower in the best VHEE plan compared to the clinical 6 MV VMAT plan.Conclusions:We have developed a GUI for MC beamlet generation for treatment planning of VHEE radiotherapy. We have demonstrated that pediatric VHEE plans resulted in significant critical organ dose sparing compared to the clinical VMAT plan.

A tool for voltage stability and optimization (VS&OP) in radial distribution systems using matlab graphical user interface (GUI)

A medical image registration simulation toolkit built using MATLAB graphical user interface (GUI) is presented. The developed Matlab GUI's provide an effective tool for exploring different image registration techniques including a new feature‐based image registration technique proposed by the authors. The ball and beam (B&B) system is widely used as a laboratory equipment to study control systems engineering since it represents one of the most easy to understand and important system. In this work, a step by step Lagrangian model for the B&B system has been obtained. Afterward, a pole placement controller has been designed for trajectory tracking and disturbance rejection purpose. The derived model and the controller has been demonstrated in Simulink environment. The paper also investigates the controller robustness in the existence of sensor noise and external disturbances. For the purpose of better understanding of the relationship between the set of placed poles, the system response plot and the physical system behavior, a visualized model for the B&B system has been built using Matlab graphical user interface (GUI) platform. The GUI platform present a helpful tool in understanding the ball and beam system mechanical behavior with different placed poles' positions. It will also minify the need for an actual B&B laboratory experimental set.

Because of the low efficiency data analysis and processing for ship pose and position, A set of ship pose and position data processing software was designed and implemented by MATLAB graphical user interface (GUI). In order to make the interface more layering and operational, we use several separate callback function to realize global callback by relevant with botton-up design methods. The software realize some functions: evaluating the data quality, data graphic outputing, and data tabulated outputting.

Climate can be demarcated as the weather condition, which has been measured over a long period of time. Climate change studies reveal that it will affect the water requirement of different crops. Consider this as a major effect on agriculture, a study was taken to know the climate change impact on the water requirement of crops cultivated in the area of Amreli district, Gujarat. For this study, meteorological data (maximum temperature, minimum temperature, precipitation, relative humidity, wind velocity, and solar radiation) of periods 2001–2020 are used. Future meteorological parameters were predicted for the period of 2031–2090 using a ClimGen weather generator. Results of generated future climatological data are showing increasing and decreasing trend, but overall climatic data shows increasing trend for the future years till 2090. These results show that climatological parameters are changing in upcoming years. Crop evapotranspiration (ETc) was determined with the help of CROPWAT 8.0 using daily climatological parameters for generated weather data, and then, the water requirement of different crops was determined. The clear effect of climatological parameters on the water requirement crops of Rabi and Kharif was identified in results. To meet the increasing demand of water, water resources should be increased by increase in water level and doing water conservation efficiently. Farmers should also be motivated to use different methods for irrigation as sprinkler and drip irrigation systems according to the requirement of crops instead of using flooding methods.

Drip-irrigation can improve uniformity in water distribution, water use efficiency, and crop productivity in the saline and nonsaline regions of South Asia and in Bangladesh where the availability and quality of water resources are scare for sustainable crop production. However, the currently available drip-irrigation systems (DIS) have limitations especially in the design and field performance of emitters. A new type of emitter with low pressure (gravity) was developed, installed and evaluated using the locally produced materials in two locations (nonsaline and saline zones) of Bangladesh. The emitter discharge rate was measured for the variable operating heads of 1.5, 2, and 2.5 meter (m) with 0%, 1%, and 1.5% slopes with eggplant (Solanum melongena L.), a commonly grown vegetable in the region. The tested parameters of the emitter were manufacturer coefficient of variation (CVm), emission uniformity (EU), coefficient of uniformity (CU), and the statistical uniformity (Us) of water application. Our results reveal that the discharge rates of the emitter varied from 3 to 5 L h−1 under the operating head of 1.5 to 2.5 m with the slope of 0–1.5%, with better performance of the DIS at 2 m operating pressure head and for slopes of 0% and 1%. The CU of all the test parameters was more than 80%, implying that the DIS was designed and installed with appropriate dimensions for the efficient application and distribution of water to the individual plants, with the emitter performance classified as fair to excellent considering water application and distribution, as well as crop yield. The new emitter used for DIS in field conditions showed that the eggplant yield, water use, and water productivity were greater by 4.6%, 38%, and 70%, respectively, compared to farmers’ irrigation practice. We conclude that the DIS has a great prospect to save water, and could be a convenient irrigation water application method for sustainable crop production in saline and nonsaline regions of Bangladesh and similar soil and climatic conditions in South Asia.
