A GEOSPATIALLY DISTRIBUTED E-REFUGEE CAMP TECHNOLOGICAL FRAMEWORK FOR CARIBBEAN SMALL ISLAND STATES

The public often faces challenges in land transactions due to limited access to information. This study develops a digital land marketplace application based on Geographic Information System (GIS), named "BELITANAHKU". The primary objective of this research is to enhance the efficiency and transparency of land transactions in Indonesia by providing a platform that facilitates access to spatial information and legal ownership data. This study employs the Rapid Application Development (RAD) approach with a qualitative descriptive data analysis technique. The collected data includes Parcel Identification Number (NIB), location, land area, ownership status, and potential issues, obtained through observation and interviews.The research findings indicate that "BELITANAHKU" provides comprehensive land information, enables sellers to easily upload land data, and allows buyers to compare properties based on location and price through an interactive map. This platform is expected to address challenges in land transactions, such as legal certainty and fraud risks. With further development, this application has great potential to drive the digitalization of the land market in Indonesia and facilitate online transactions for both the public and real estate businesses. Penelitian ini mengembangkan aplikasi marketplace digital tanah berbasis Sistem Informasi Geografis (SIG) yang diberi nama "BELITANAHKU". Tujuan utama penelitian ini adalah meningkatkan efisiensi dan transparansi dalam transaksi jual beli tanah di Indonesia dengan menyediakan platform yang mempermudah akses informasi spasial serta data legal kepemilikan tanah. Penelitian ini menerapkan pendekatan Rapid Application Development (RAD) dengan teknik analisis data deskriptif kualitatif. Data yang dikumpulkan meliputi Nomor Identifikasi Bidang (NIB), lokasi, luas tanah, status kepemilikan, serta indikasi permasalahan, yang diperoleh melalui metode observasi dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa "BELITANAHKU" dapat menyediakan akses informasi tanah yang komprehensif, memungkinkan penjual untuk mengunggah data tanah dengan mudah, serta memberikan kemudahan bagi pembeli dalam membandingkan properti berdasarkan lokasi dan harga melalui peta interaktif. Platform ini diharapkan dapat mengatasi permasalahan dalam transaksi tanah, seperti kepastian hukum dan risiko penipuan. Dengan pengembangan lebih lanjut, aplikasi ini memiliki potensi besar dalam mendorong digitalisasi pasar tanah di Indonesia serta mempermudah masyarakat maupun pelaku usaha properti dalam melakukan transaksi secara online. The continued survival of firms depends on successful innovation. Yet, legacy firms are struggling to adapt their business models to successfully innovate in the face of greater competition from both local and global startups. The authors propose that firms should build on the lean startup methodology to help adapt their business models while at the same time leveraging the resource advantages that they have as legacy corporations. This paper provides an integrated process for corporate innovation learning through combining the lean startup methodology with big data. By themselves, the volume, variety and velocity of big data may trigger confirmation bias, communication problems and illusions of control. However, the lean startup methodology has the potential to alleviate these complications. Specifically, firms should evolve their business models through fast verification of managerial hypotheses, innovation accounting and the build-measure-learn-loop cycle. Such advice is especially valid for environments with high levels of technological and demand uncertainty.

Currently, the interest in design thinking in the world has made it possible to add many techniques and visual schemes that can solve various kinds of problems, including for building a strategy to achieve the company’s goals, its corporate spirit and the development of creative skills of its employees. Already today, it is possible to call the merit of design thinking the shift of emphasis in corporate goals to customer orientation, to the mobilization of collective intelligence to solve problems, to understanding the importance of empathy, creativity and entrepreneurship. A comparative analysis of existing design thinking frameworks is given, including from researchers of companies and design centers such as Hasso Plattner Institute of Design at Stanford University (d.school), The HPI-Stanford Design Thinking Research Program, Stanford d.school’s Design Thinking framework (IDEO), Google, Intel. Frameworks structure the process of design thinking in 5-6 phases: from empathy, when the needs and requests of consumers are studied, to testing an innovative product or service being created. The place of “design thinking” approach in the general concept of human-centered design is shown. The task of design thinking, the development of innovative products or services focused on human needs, is to provide a solution to a specific problem of a certain target audience. The paper outlines the principles of designing a digital innovative product. The five steps of designing a new product are described and the features of using various visualization techniques are given. The study uses such tools as the “Persona” model, Job Stories and User Stories frameworks. The creating process features of an innovative product based on the integration of design thinking, Lean Startup methodology and the theory of Jobs to Be Done are described. The life cycle of the innovation development “Creation – Evaluation – Training” is presented which is based on the process of validated learning. Changes in the outline of the business model in the lean startup methodology are presented. New segments have been added to the Lean Canvas business model – “Key Partners”, “Key Activities”, “Key Resources”, “Consumer Relations”.

Rapid Application Development (RAD) has been proposed by some as the latest ‘silver bullet‘ to address the software crisis, while others have likened it to ‘old wine in new bottles’, suggesting that it doesn’t really provide anything new in terms of tools or techniques. Researchers have noted that while much has been written on the subject, there is a paucity of empirical research on the concept in practice. This paper discusses the rationale behind the emergence of RAD and the fundamental principles underpinning it. The findings of a preliminary study which investigated the RAD phenomenon in practice are presented. Briefly, the study findings focus on the profile of RAD usage, suitability criteria for using RAD on development projects, and how RAD is used to deliver its mission of faster development, within budget and without sacrificing system quality.

In recent years, the number and scope of events in the Asia and Middle East / North Africa region has increased significantly. Events are one of the things that attracts the attention of foreign tourists to come to visit a country as a tourist destination. Refers toMinister of Tourism Regulation Number 2 Year 2017on Guidelines for Venues for Meetings, Incentive Trips, Conventions and Exhibitions, explains that criteria and indicators are needed to increase the competitiveness of venues for meetings, incentive trips, conventions and exhibitions at the regional and global levels. This is done to increase the number of visits, length of stay, and expenditures for domestic and foreign tourists. Therefore, visual indicators or data are needed that can present the location of the event and a list of events in DKI Jakarta. From these problems, this study aims to produce a web-based spatial information system for the distribution of tourism industry events to map event locations in DKI Jakarta. Computer technology that is increasingly developing has created a situation that demands everything to be computerized. Science from technology has also changed the way of life of most Indonesians. The presence of information and communication technology affects the technology applied in information systems, especially the input and output mechanisms. One of them is at the Clinic which requires computer technology in its operations. The design of this website also uses 3 stages of Rapid Application Development (RAD) system design, the result of which is a website for a medical record information system. In order for clinical activities to run smoothly at the Clinic, an information system using the Rapid Application Development (RAD) method is needed because the software development process model is classified as an incremental technique and emphasizes short, short, and fast development cycles. Medical record system testing will be tested using Blackbox Testing and User Acceptance Test (UAT) testing.

This chapter looks at the experience of survivors in displaced persons (DP) camps as a cultural anomaly, when Yiddish language and literature formed the basis for cultural continuity in the aftermath of the Holocaust. Jews in the DP camps produced a number of Yiddish publications whose aim was to renew Jewish cultural life. But even as the camp setting fostered the use of Yiddish as a lingua franca, survivors recognized that the role of the language and its culture was changing. Despite the efforts of Yiddishist writers and cultural activists to sustain it, Yiddish stood at a critical juncture: the debate over the adoption of a common language to unify Jewish civilization was not new, but in the DP camps it set the stage for the future development of Jewish culture. The chapter then explores the Yiddish DP camp publications to interpret the choices and loyalties that shaped the language practices of the time and the policies the intelligentsia of the camps articulated. It looks, first, at factors internal to the DP camps and, second, at external factors influencing language use, especially political and Zionist organizations and agencies.

The development of the internet of things has penetrated in several lines, including in agriculture. To respond to the development of this IoT requires rapid technological adaptation as well. To build a system quickly, one can utilize the Rapid Application Development (RAD) method. RAD is a model that allows non-experts to benefit from high-performance computing, while allowing expert programmers to take full advantage of the underlying hardware. This enables rapid prototyping, retargeting, and reuse of existing software, while allowing hardware-specific optimization if needed. The RAD system emphasizes the fast development cycle that is designed and high-quality results from other methods such as waterfall, agile, scrum and others. The system was built using the minimum NodeMCU system with the help of a soil moisture sensor. The use of the RAD method in building an IoT-based agricultural irrigation system gives good results in testing all functions and equipment controls. The average delay level on testing IoT devices is around 4.6 seconds so that the RAD method can be used as a reference in the construction of an IoT-based system.

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengatasi permasalahan tersebut melalui pengembangan sistem informasi layanan masyarakat berbasis web dengan model Rapid Application Development (RAD). Dengan pendekatan RAD yang iteratif dan berorientasi pengguna, waktu pengembangan sistem informasi dapat dipersingkat. Tinjauan pustaka membahas konsep pelayanan publik, metode pengembangan perangkat lunak, dan model RAD. Metode penelitian melibatkan tahapan dari Requirements Planning hingga Construction, dengan penekanan pada interaksi intensif dengan pengguna dan adaptasi fleksibel terhadap perubahan. Rapid Application Development (RAD) is a methodology used to develop software. This method is able to reduce time to develop software. This becomes consideration in order to choose the Rapid Application Development as a methodology to develop Dutatani Website. Dutatani is a portal and a part of Integrated Agriculture Information System (IAIS). IAIS is an agriculture information system that has some subsystems that are connected and linked to each other. It also has an integrated database. In particular, Dutatani is able to manage user, manage content, and manage link in the IAIS. This website will be a link to other applications in the IAIS. This article especially discusses the development of the Dutatani Website using Rapid Application Development that is implemented by combining iterative development and system prototyping. There are some phases in the development using the RAD: planning, analysis, main design specific design, implementation and testing, and integrating prototype. This system was developed by a team which consists five members. The implementation of this prototyping technique was done by dividing five people into two groups in which each group had different responsibilities to different module/functions. This website had been developed within 150 days. Thus, in implementing the RAD, it is important for the team leader to monitor continuously. Monitoring is a useful technique to ensure the productivity and performance of each members in order to gain optimal development process.

The problem faced by the Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD) of Jepara Regency is the number of billboards in Jepara Regency, but BPKAD has difficulty monitoring the location of the billboards that have been installed because the parties concerned do not report the installation of billboards. The purpose of this report is to analyze and design a geographic information system for advertising tax management at BPKAD, Jepara Regency. The material in the research is data that will be input to the system, namely data from the advertisement tax object, data on the location of the billboard point. In the system design that the author proposes, the system design is made using UML (Unified Modeling Language), namely Usecase Diagrams, Class Diagrams, Activity Diagrams and Sequence Diagrams. The methodology used to design the system is the RAD (Rapid Application Development) method at the design stage using the RAD method which is divided into three stages, namely Requirement Planning, Design Workshop, and Implementation. The results of this study are in the form of reports on the analysis and design of the geographic information system to display all tax object locations that have been inputted by the officer, the benefits of the analysis and design of the Geographic Information System for Advertising Tax Management at BPKAD Jepara. This system can assist in managing the advertisement tax. those in Jepara tax can more easily take care of advertising taxes at home

The inherent geographic nature of displacement in refugee camps is requiring further use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology for community-based information and asset management. Additionally, refugees have a fundamental need for livelihood development in host countries due to the protracted nature of displacement. This paper presents our work on the Refugee GIS or ‘RefuGIS’ project that addresses these two topics via a training and capacity building education program and community mobilization efforts. RefuGIS is currently at the prototype level of development in the Za'atari Syrian Refugee Camp in northern Jordan. RefuGIS is the one of world's first efforts at enabling GIS capacity among refugees themselves and was funded by a grant from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Innovation fund. Specifically, this paper will discuss (a) design of the RefuGIS educational program via utilization of a non-profit GIS software donation, hardware procurement and customized GIS educational curriculum, (b) selection of refugee participants through spatial thinking aptitude testing, (c) practical experiences and lessons learned from education, training, and capacity building of refugees on the topics of GIS and related information technology skills, (d) insights into use of GIS as a community information and asset management tool by refugees themselves as demonstrated by evaluation of project outputs such as reference mapping products and field surveys conducted by refugees. Lessons learned from the RefuGIS project, even at the prototype stage, have potential to inform other refugee community information and asset management projects. Since creation of the project, refugees in Za'atari camp have been able to obtain cash-for-work GIS jobs in Za'atari using the skills learned via the RefuGIS project. The RefuGIS project demonstrates the refugee livelihood potential that training and capacity building around GIS can build as well as the empowerment effect that technology education and livelihood development can bring to refugees.

Within the ever-expanding field of ethnomusicological research in contexts marked by socio-political, financial, and environmental crisis, a newly emerging area of study has been that of music in contexts of forced migration. This article explores the groundbreaking contribution of one of the pioneering figures in ethnomusicological research in that field: Adelaida Reyes. The article’s goal is to encapsulate a framework that could be adopted and adapted by, and inspire new researchers on music and forced migration. After an introduction to the personal background of Adelaida Reyes, the article discusses three main positions that permeate her inaugural research in urban contexts, particularly that of New York. These are the interdisciplinary conceptualization of the socio-political context; the study of music of groups of people without essentialist preconceptions, and the adjustment of fieldwork methods to correspond to theoretical concerns and the empirical reality. The article then proceeds to link Reyes’ core thoughts with the particular innovative theoretical and methodological concepts she applied in her multi-sited research with Vietnamese refugees in the U.S. and in refugee camps in the Philippines, as well as in her research with refugees from South Sudan in Uganda. Informed by anthropological refugee studies, her pioneering approach perceives forced migration as a unified experience and context, consisting of pre-departure features, departure-related, and finally, those related to resettlement. Musical meaning then becomes intensively transforming and dependent on a plethora of factors. On the one hand, as Reyes' ethnomusicological research in urban settings had pointed out, there was complexity, heterogeneity, and blurred boundaries, and on the other, emerging in particular experiences of forced migration, there was psychological distress; processes of institutional labeling; living in refugee camps; asymmetrical power relations between refugees and the larger society; and the emotional and political relationship with the past homeland. In the conclusion of the article, Reyes’ priceless contribution is discussed alongside recent ethnomusicological research on music and forced migration.

This work deals with some of the principles upon which rapid application development (RAD) projects are managed, based on recent case studies and published methods. It focuses particularly on the development team, and suggests themes that may underlie RAD principles. An approach to metrics in establishing the relationship between principles and benefits is discussed.
