In the research paper, primarily there will be description about cyber forensics tools for SaaS application for eucalyptus continued with implementation and finally the evaluation. FORE endow us to dedicated capabilities of forensics for Eucalyptus cloud platform. Eucalyptus is open source software which is providing us with various cloud deployment model. FORE implementation supports for SaaS application. FORE cyber investigation related to the SaaS application which is hosted on virtual machine and virtual operating system using SaaS application logs, virtual volume logs and user activity logs. [2][8] In simple web application we easily perform forensics activity, but in cloud platform it is very difficult to perform forensics activity because all servers operated virtually. This type of forensics investigate on a web based approach may required for log investigation. In virtual environment user also responsible for their data security, so user need to self audit of account activity. In this paper, we explore the basic requirement for a cloud forensics and develop forensic tool for auditing and investigation for SaaS model.

This paper presents a performance comparison of two hypervisors, VirtualBox and VMWare Workstation 15 Player. The performances of the hypervisors are evaluated through the performance of the applied file system. For the testing procedure, we have used Filebench benchmark tool. We have used CentOS 7 Linux distribution as the virtual machine operating system. The hypervisor performances are compared taking into consideration tests performed for the system with one, two and three virtual machines launched.

The design principles of operating systems have been isolated and comprehensively expounded in texts that have appeared in the last decade which are suitable for either an advanced undergraduate or low-level graduate course. The topics covered are those listed in the course outline for CS10, Operating Systems and Computer Architecture II in Curriculum '78 (1). Generally one of two approaches is taken. The first is that the computer architecture already decides many of the fundamental policies of the operating system which it is to support. The second is that an operating system must solve certain allocation and scheduling problems in order to provide a user with a variety of services and to manage its own resources efficiently, and that once identified, solutions to the problems must be implemented on some computer architecture. In either case the text usually culminates with a limited project in which students design and implement some type of multiprogramming operating system.This report outlines the approach taken to present IBM's Multiple Virtual Storage Operating System (MVS) in this setting.

VML (Virtual Machine Language) has been used as the sequencing flight software on over a dozen JPL deep-space missions, most recently flying on GRAIL and JUNO. In conjunction with the NASA SBIR entitled Reactive Rendezvous and Docking Sequencer, VML version 3.0 has been enhanced to include object-oriented element organization, built-in queuing operations, and sophisticated matrix / vector operations. These improvements allow VML scripts to easily perform much of the work that formerly would have required a great deal of expensive flight software development to realize. Autonomous turning and tracking makes considerable use of new VML features. Profiles generated by flight software are managed using object-oriented VML data constructs executed in discrete time by the VML flight software. VML vector and matrix operations provide the ability to calculate and supply quaternions to the attitude controller flight software which produces torque requests. Using VML-based attitude planning components eliminates flight software development effort, and reduces corresponding costs. In addition, the direct management of the quaternions allows turning and tracking to be tied in with sophisticated high-level VML state machines. These state machines provide autonomous management of spacecraft operations during critical tasks like a hypothetic Mars sample return rendezvous and docking. State machines created for autonomous science observations can also use this sort of attitude planning system, allowing heightened autonomy levels to reduce operations costs. VML state machines cannot be considered merely sequences - they are reactive logic constructs capable of autonomous decision making within a well-defined domain. The state machine approach enabled by VML 3.0 is progressing toward flight capability with a wide array of applicable mission activities.

Transient survivability analysis of a virtualized system (VS) is critical to the wide deployment of cloud services. The existing research of VS availability and/or reliability focused on the steady-state analysis. This paper presents a model and the closed-form solutions to analyze the survivability of both cloud service and VS after a service breakdown occurrence by using continuous-time Markov chain. Service breakdown may be caused by software rejuvenation of virtual machine (VM) and/or VM monitor (VMM), or caused by VM and/or VMM bugs. The VS applies two techniques for improving service survivability: VM failover and live VM migration. The proposed model and the defined survivability metrics not only enable us to quantitatively assess the system survivability but also provide insights on the investment efforts in system recovery strategies. Sensitivity analysis through numerical analysis is carried out to study the impact of key parameters on system survivability.

최근 들어 국내외 대형 IT 기업들은 하드웨어 또는 소프트웨어 기반의 기술을 활용하여 다양한 클라우드 서비스를 제공하고 있다. 이러한 클라우드 서비스 기술을 통해 사용자로 하여금 지리적 위치나 PC, 모바일 장비 등의 제약 없이 다양한 클라우드 서비스를 이용할 수 있는 장점을 가지고 있다. 이러한 클라우드 서비스를 제공하기 위한 주요 기술로는 가상화, 프로비저닝, 빅데이터 처리 기술 등이 있다. 이러한 기술들이 있음에도 불구하고, 다양한 유형의 보안 사고가 지속적으로 발생하고 있다. 이로 인해 주요 데이터의 외부노출을 꺼리는 기업들은 하드웨어와 소프트웨어를 직접 구축 및 운영하는 사설 클라우드 서비스를 직접 구축하고 있다. 이때, 가상화 기반 환경에서 사용자의 권한에 따라 소프트웨어를 다르게 제공하고자 하는 경우 사용자 권한에 따라 소프트웨어의 실행을 제어하기 어렵고, 시스템 리소스 낭비 문제, 반복적인 사용자 로그인 수행 등 여러 가지 문제점이 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 개방형 인증 프로토콜과 가상화 기술을 접목하여 사용자 권한에 따른 응용 소프트웨어를 제공하는 방안을 제안 하였다. In recent years, IT companies offer various cloud services using hardware-based technologies or software-based technologies. User can access these cloud services without the constraints of location or devices. The technologies are virtualization, provisioning, and big data processing. However, security incidents are constantly occurring even with these techniques. Thus, many companies build and operate private cloud service to prevent the leak of critical data. If virtual environment are different according to user permission, many system are needed, and user should login several virtual system to execute an program. In this paper, I suggest the access control method for application software on virtual operating system using the Open Authentication protocol in the Cloud system.

A Swappable Logic Unit (SLU) is an FPGA-based logic circuit that can be managed by a virtual hardware operating system. Since the SLU concept is still in its infancy, it is unreasonable to expect circuit design systems to be enhanced to include SLU awareness at this stage. Therefore, this paper describes a tool that can be used as a back end to any XC6200 circuit design system. It analyses XC6200 circuitry, to detect SLUs and then collect information about their external interfaces. This information is needed by an operating system so that it can manage the SLUs when they are in use.

SummaryVirtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solutions seek to provide a satisfactory user experience at the client side when accessing remote desktop applications, even from mobile devices with limited capabilities. This paper presents a new approach, improving on previous work by the authors, in which a combination of Virtual Network Computing (VNC) and streaming protocols allowed efficient remote web access to virtualized applications within a cloud architecture. The new approach simplifies virtual machine templates, from which virtual machine instances are deployed, by centralizing software modules, greatly simplifying their management. Our new contribution consists of an integrated solution with specific WebM video encoding modules in charge of application visual output processing, an Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) streaming server, and a VNC server. The solution can be installed in the hypervisor of the host machines instead of replicating the servers and modules throughout the guest (virtual) machines that run the virtualized applications. Consequently, their implementations are unique and independent of the operating system of the virtual machines. In short, it is not necessary to provide different implementations for different operating systems, which reduces the complexity of virtual machine templates and greatly simplies platform management. To demonstrate our solution, we have modified the Quick Emulator (QEMU)‐Kernel‐based Virtual Machine (KVM) hypervisor source code accordingly. We also present qualitative and quantitative analyses that demonstrate that the new approach is advantageous in terms of software management and quality of experience, compared with our previous work and other well‐known thin clients, contributing to the enhancement of VDI systems. Consolidating multiple virtual machines into a single server has been widely adopted in cloud computing to improve system utilization. However, the sharing of physical CPUs among virtual machines in consolidated systems poses a new challenge in providing an illusion of continuous CPU execution to the guest operating systems (OS). Due to the time-sharing of physical CPUs, the execution of a guest OS is periodically interrupted, while the guest OS may not be aware of the discontinuity of virtual time against the real time. The virtual time discontinuity problem causes the delayed processing of critical OS operations, such as interrupt handling and lock processing. Although there have been several prior studies to mitigate the problem, they address only a subset of symptoms, require the modification of guest OSes, or change the processor architecture. This paper proposes a novel way to comprehensively reduce the inefficiency of guest OS execution in consolidated systems. It migrates the short-lived critical OS tasks to dedicated micro-sliced cores, minimizing the delays caused by time sharing. The hypervisor identifies the critical OS tasks without any OS intervention, and schedules the critical code sections onto the dynamically partitioned cores at runtime. The dedicated micro-sliced cores employ a short sub-millisecond quantum to minimize the response latencies for consolidated virtual machines. By readily servicing the critical tasks, the proposed scheme can minimize the adverse artifact of virtual machine consolidation without any modification of guest OSes.

: The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) (N-NC) crew training has been hindered by an inability to conduct dynamic training and exercises on multiple Command and Control (C2) systems. There was no common simulation injector because of stove-piped acquisitions and legacy interfaces that were incompatible with the Live-Virtual-Constructive Toolkits. The N-NC Joint Training and Exercise Directorate could not afford traditional replication or emulation of all C2 systems and their data sources, nor the inevitable sustainment costs. This paper presents a cost-effective solution to provide dynamic scenario injection into multiple C2 systems: leveraging server and desktop virtualization technology described in previous I/ITSEC papers. The virtualization process transforms stand-alone systems into functionally equivalent virtual machines (VMs). Server virtualization technology lets multiple VMs run as guests on a single host, and a host can support VMs running different operating systems. This allows entire processing strings, distributed throughout North America, to be converted into VMs on a single server. Because the VMs inherit the fidelity of the actual processors, their outputs are as authentic as the operational systems. These VMs feed processed simulation event data into actual C2 systems or equivalent VMs. Future operational system upgrades can be virtualized and then replace existing VMs without changing this infrastructure. Desktop virtualization technology allows users to run multiple VMs in separate windows on a common display. NNC exploited desktop virtualization to simplify the trainee and model operator's workspaces. They can view and manage multiple VMs with one monitor, keyboard and mouse (controlling simulations, lower echelon processing and operator interaction, and viewing C2 workstation displays).

Development of a safety education system for SMB operation

In general, operating systems (OSs) are designed to mediate access to device hardware by applications. They process different kinds of system calls using an indiscriminate kernel with the same configuration. Applications in cloud computing platforms are constructed from service components. Each of the service components is assigned separately to an individual virtual machine (VM), which leads to homogeneous system calls on each VM. In addition, the requirements for kernel function and configuration of system parameters from different VMs are different. Therefore, the suit-to-all design incurs an unnecessary performance overhead and restricts the OS’s processing capacity in cloud computing. In this paper, we propose an adaptive model for cloud computing to resolve the conflict between generality and performance. Our model adaptively specializes the OS of a VM according to the resource-consuming characteristics of workloads on the VM. We implement a prototype of the adaptive model, vSpec. There are five classes of VM: CPU-intensive, memory-intensive, I/O-intensive, networkintensive and compound, according to the resource-consuming characteristics of the workloads running on the VMs. vSpec specializes the OS of a VM according to the VM class. We perform comprehensive experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of vSpec on benchmarks and real-world applications.

Evolution of virtualization in data center is fast and is being widely used in the world. Usage of virtual machine (VM) in data center (DC) cannot be aside from problems such as: Operating System (OS) problem, virtual network, memory and CPU utilizations. Besides of those problems, utilization of VM can be found in cloud computing technology to make more efficient and its performance should be good entirely. Problem in VM is very complex. It can be found in OS, application and physical server. To keep it in good performance, operational engineer should operate VM monitoring system in order to keep VM run well. This research will use several methods, such as: fuzzy Mamdani, holdout validation and naive Bayes. These methods will then create decision making for VM performance condition.

Scheduling policy in host operating system (OS) will have effect on the performance of Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM). This paper proposed an optimized scheduler policy to improve the performance of KVM. Firstly, a special process queue for virtual machine (VM) is added in the host OS, which is scheduled prior to normal process. Same time slices is given to each VM to make their load balanced. Secondly, the VM process queue is periodic sorted based on the remaining time slices of VM and a special state is added to identify I/O-intensive VM, which make sure that I/O-intensive VM is processed specially to receive a prior schedule opportunity. In the end, an experiment in KVM environment is designed and executed to show the effectiveness of this optimized scheduling policy.
