Implementation of User Authentication System in Smart Hospitals Useful in the Age of the Covid-19 Pandemic
The security system for authentication and user records in a smart hospital is part of an integrated security system consisting of various authentication devices. The security system should be adapted to different characteristics of users, their user processes, but also to periods when the possibility of infection is increased due to a virus pandemic and contamination during multiple touches of different persons on authentication devices. The use of gloves and a medical face mask during a pandemic limits biometric scanning of fingerprints and facial images. During a virus pandemic, some authentication devices have limitations that need to be considered when creating an integrated security system that will have the purpose of securing doctors, staff, patients, information, and things in a smart hospital. In this paper, the parameters on the basis of which it is possible to design an optimally integrated security system are recommended.

Read moreSafety and Security in the Arctic: Strategic Resource Planning in Emergencies Management
Nowadays, there appeared a tendency of expanding scope and scale of activities in the Arctic. This is accompanied by the increasing number of security threats and potential emergencies factors in the region. Arctic region development involves implementing the goals of reducing risks to global and regional security. An important role in implementing the strategy of creating a comprehensive security system in the Arctic belongs to efficient protection of population and territories, critically important and potentially dangerous facilities from natural and man-made emergencies. All dangerous factors characterizing emergencies require generation of a complex approach to ensure security in the Arctic territories, increasing the rescue services resource potential and providing monitoring the environment components state and pollution. This article identifies ways to solve the problem of strategic planning and deployment of forces and facilities when creating an integrated security system under resource constraints and dynamically changing situation in the Arctic. An organization chart of strategic resource planning for emergencies management in the Arctic was developed. A decision-making algorithm is proposed to elaborate forces and facilitate composition for the Arctic integrated search-and-rescue centers based on the developed chart. Achieving results in strategic planning involves elaboration of a program for developing forces and facilities of the integrated security system in the Arctic region on the basis of results obtained within the simulation process. The program should reflect step-by-step solution of strategic planning tasks in accordance with goals, resource and time constraints.
Read more3-dimensional video motion detection and assessment
The 3-dimensional video motion detection system (3DVMD) is a stand-alone sensor system developed at Sandia National Laboratories. It operates on a single PC platform and uses multiple cameras to monitor activity in predefined, 3-dimensional volumes of space. Detected activity is displayed on the PC monitor as an overlay to real-time video imagery. The basic sensor can provide switch closures for an interface to an Alarm Communications and Display (AC&D) system. High-level detection information relating to the size, location, and direction of motion of moving objects can be provided for assessment purposes. Using this high-level information, 3DVMD can be used to monitor individual items as well as track people within the monitored area. It can be used for two-man rule verification, process control, and the detection of anomalies during evacuation procedures. The 3DVMD system can be set up as an interior or exterior sensor. There are several benefits to the 3DVMD technology. 3DVMD is a passive security sensor. It provides high-level information (e.g., location, size, direction of motion) that can be used as an assessment aid in CCTV video, where it is often difficult to even see an intruder. Its detection volume is user-definable and remains static until changed by the user. This reduces vulnerabilities introduced by the variable detection envelope of other sensors. It has a reduced nuisance alarm rate as compared to traditional 2-dimensional video motion detection sensors. The technology also has built-in redundancy. If a camera fails, the system can adjust to operate without that camera, down to a minimum of two cameras. 3DVMD also has a self-assessment capability. Because CCTV sensors are an integral component of the 3DVMD system, the failure or tampering of any CCTV sensor is immediately identified. 3DVMD technology is ready to be fielded either as a stand-alone security system or as an integrated security system that provides switch closures to an existing AC&D system. Minimal software development is required to customize the technology for specific applications. Sandia is currently in the technology transfer process for the baseline 3DVMD technology.
Read moreSecuring Enterprise Java Applications: A Comprehensive Approach
Java is still mostly used in business applications as it allows a variety of systems from banking to massive e-commerce platforms. The heavy usage calls for strict security policies. Common targets for cyberattacks are enterprise Java projects, hence security from the start must be emphasized by developers and security teams. This paper investigates a complete Java application security approach covering important subjects such safe coding techniques, reducing common vulnerabilities found in the OWASP Top 10, using security frameworks, and guaranteeing API security.Following safe coding guidelines helps developers reduce data exposure concerns, injection vulnerabilities, and authentication flaws. Integrated security systems such as Spring Security and Jakarta EE provide complete protections including encryption, authentication, and authorization. Modern apps depend on APIs with strict security mechanisms including suitable authentication techniques, rate restrictions, encryption to prevent illegal access and data leaks. The applicability of these ideas in the protecting Java microservices within a financial application is shown by this case study. This actual scenario shows how a tiered security system—which consists of the strong authentication, safe communication channels & the continuous monitoring—may guard private client information & the financial activities. Organizations may significantly lower risks and guarantee industry legal compliance by using a proactive attitude to security. Aiming to enhance the security framework of their Java applications, developers, security analysts, and decision-makers will find a sensible approach in this paper.

Radio systems are in contact with the channels of information transmission in high-tech information times tightly more and more. The channel becomes an important part of radio systems, which is known as the radiowave propagation environment. Digital grid data can not only reflect the continuous visibilities of different part of the radiowave environmental parameters, but can achieve the propagation forecasts and generate the necessary visual maps for any regions. Based on the radiowave space grid environmental information data from advanced remote sensing instruments and radiowave environment station networks, as well as the management and application of space-time information which is expressed by radiowave environment grid data, the radiowave environment observation and security system is realized with comprehensive observation system, abundant data acquisition methods, integrated earth space, and real-time information capacity that can be used in radar, communication, monitoring and control, navigation and other electronic information systems, and integrated security systems, etc.
Read moreA Parameter Dependent Riccati Equation Approach to Output Feedback Adaptive Control
A parameter dependent Riccati equation approach is taken to analyze the stability properties of an output feedback adaptive control law design. The adaptive controller is intended to augment a nominal, fixed gain, observer based output feedback control law. Although the formulation is in the setting of model following adaptive control, the realization of the adaptive controll er does not require implementing the reference model. In this regard, the cost of implementing the adaptive controller above that of a fixed gain control law is far less than that of other methods. The error signals are shown to be uniformly ultimately bounded and an expression for the ultimate bound is provided. The control design process and theoretical results are illustrated using a model for wing-rock dynamics. Research in adaptive output feedback control of uncertain nonlinear systems is motivated by the many emerging applications that employ novel actuation devices for active control of flexible structures and fluid flows. These applications include actuators such as piezo-electric films and s ynthetic jets, which are typically nonlinearly coupled to t he plant dynamics they are intended to control. Models for these applications vary from accurate low frequency models to models that crudely approximate the true dynamics even at low frequencies. Examples of applications include active damping of flexible structures, control of aeroservoelasti c aircraft, and active control of flows. Adaptive control can be used to satisfy performance requirements in the presence of large scale parameter uncertainty, and improved safety in the event of actuator failure.
Read moreAdaptive Optimal Control of Unknown Stochastic Discrete‐Time Linear Systems
The optimal control with an ergodic cost function is investigated for a class of stochastic discrete‐time linear systems with unknown system coefficient matrices. We present an online value iteration‐based stochastic adaptive dynamic programming algorithm to obtain the approximation sequence of the optimal state feedback control gain and rigorously prove that the approximation sequence converges to the optimal state feedback control gain under some reasonable conditions. In the framework of direct adaptive control, the diminishing excitation technique is introduced for an unknown stochastic discrete‐time state space model, and we prove that the adaptive controller, which is given by real‐time computation, is optimal. In contrast to existing related results, our method does not need to collect enough data to solve the Bellman equation in each iteration and avoids the requirement to estimate means and variances of controllers or states. A numerical simulation is provided to evaluate the efficacy of the presented approach.
Read moreAdaptive optimal control approach to robust tracking of uncertain linear systems based on policy iteration
In this study, an optimal adaptive control approach is established to solve the robust output tracking problem of a class of continuous time uncertain linear systems based on the policy iteration (PI) in actor-critic algorithm. First, by augmenting the integral variables of the tracking error into state variables, the robust tracking problem is transformed into a robust control problem of an augmented uncertain linear system. It is proven that the robust control law of the augmented system enables the output of the considered system to track a polynomial time signal asymptotically. Second, an optimal control method in the corresponding auxiliary nominal system is established, and based on the Bellman optimality principle, PI algorithms are proposed to solve online tracking controllers for the matched and the mismatched uncertain systems. Finally, for testing the availability of the proposed approach and theoretical results, two numerical experiments are provided.

Read moreComparative Literature Study of CodeIgniter and Laravel Framework Performance in Website Creation
PHP frameworks are widely used in web application development because they speed up the coding process and simplify application management. Among the popular frameworks, CodeIgniter and Laravel are often the top choices. This study aims to compare the performance of the two frameworks through literature studies from various relevant sources. The method used is a literature study of previous references, which is analyzed based on five main aspects: basic performance, ease of development, database management, security, and features and scalability. Data was obtained from official documentation, benchmark results, and scientific publications that discuss both frameworks. The analysis results show that CodeIgniter excels in execution speed and simplicity and is suitable for lightweight applications and novice developers. On the other hand, Laravel stands out for its modern features, complex database management, and more integrated security systems, making it better suited for large-scale and complex applications. The conclusion of this study shows that the selection of a framework should be adjusted to the needs of the project, the complexity of the system, and the development team's ability. This research is expected to guide developers in determining the right framework choice and encouraging further study based on direct experimental tests for more applicable results.
Read moreComfort improvement in railway vehicles via optimal control of adaptive pneumatic suspensions
This paper presents an adaptive optimal control strategy focused on improving ride comfort by minimising the root mean square of accelerations measured at seven locations on the carbody floor. It requires preview knowledge of both the train speed and the standard track quality (not the deterministic track disturbances) and differs from other works in considering pointwise constraints (upper and lower secondary suspension travel limits). Adaptive control is achieved by varying the diameter of the restriction orifice which connects the pneumatic spring to the auxiliary air reservoir, which confers different dynamic stiffness and damping to the front and rear secondary suspensions. Decision maps with the front and rear optimal diameters for five track irregularity levels and six different speeds were obtained using a Monte Carlo strategy based on solving the optimal control problem for 240 stochastic realisations of time-varying track irregularities of 300 s. Results show that the adaptive optimal control provides a successful compromise between comfort and safety which overshadows the conventional passive approach: it improves comfort up to 50% with respect to stiff passive configurations and it guarantees constraint fulfilment unlike compliant passive configurations.
