Abstract

Complex, highly interconnected acoustic systems can be difficult to model for students and inexperience practitioners. The systematic lumped-element circuit model construction method presented here is easy to learn and teach, and allows for rapid, error-free circuit model construction. The present author discovered the method in a book by Mario Rossi [Acoustics and Electroacoustics, Artech House Publishers (1988)] and has included it in the electroacoustic transducers course taught at the University of Texas at Austin since 2003. This method has been effective in this course and utilizes two types of effective instruction discussed in the scientific education literature: the use of interactive engagement and visual models.
