Applications of Cloud Computing in Industrial Robotics

Cloud Computing is an emerging technology for processing and storing large amounts of data. One of its most important challenges is to deliver good performance to its end users. Sometimes, anomalies affect a part of the Cloud infrastructure, resulting in degradation in Cloud performance. These anomalies can be identified by performance concepts of Cloud Computing based on software engineering quality models. This work presents these Cloud Computing concepts that are directly related to the measurement of performance from a quantitative viewpoint. One of the challenges in defining such concepts has been to determine what type of relationship exists between the various base measurements that define the performance concepts in a Cloud environment. For example, what is the extent of the relationship between CPU processing time and amount of information to process by a Cloud Computing application? This work uses the Taguchi method for the design of experiments to present a methodology for identifying the relationships between the various configuration parameters (base measures) that affect the quality of Cloud Computing applications’ performance. This chapter is based on a proposed performance measurement framework for Cloud Computing systems, which integrates software quality concepts from ISO 25010 and other international standards.

Industrial robots play a vital role in transforming and upgrading the manufacturing industry. They harness automation technologies to drive industrial production and enhance their value through innovations in production tools and knowledge. This paper analyzes annual data from China's A‐share nonfinancial manufacturing listed companies during the period from 2007 to 2019, examining the impact of industrial robot applications on corporate cash holdings. The study discovers that the application of industrial robots notably reduces corporate cash holdings, thereby confirming the effect of capital allocation. The analysis rules out the possibility that this reduction occurs through alleviating agency problems. Mechanism analysis reveals that the application of industrial robots reduces cash holdings for precautionary motives by reducing labor leverage and enhancing labor productivity and operational efficiency. Additional tests reveal that the reduction in corporate cash holdings due to industrial robot applications is more pronounced in enterprises with intense market competition, labor‐intensive and nonstate‐owned enterprises. This study deepens the research focus on industrial robot applications and corporate cash holdings, providing a theoretical basis for policymakers to promote technological innovation and industrial advancement.

Dynamic resource provisioning is a challenging technique to meet the service level agreement (SLA) requirements of multi-tier applications in virtualization-based cloud computing. Prior efforts have addressed this challenge based on either a cost-oblivious approach or a cost-aware approach. However, both approaches may suffer frequent SLA violations under flash crowd conditions. Because they ignore the benefit gained that a multi-tier application continuously guarantees the SLA in the new configuration. In this paper, we propose a benefit-aware approach with feedback control theory to solve this problem. Experimental results based on live workload traces show that our approach can reduce resource provisioning cost by as much as 30% compared with a costoblivious approach, and can effectively reduce SLA violations compared with a cost-aware approach.

Cloud computing is a methodology and not a technology. Adaptation of cloud computing services for robotic applications is relatively straightforward while adaptation of underlying ideas will require a new design attitude. Cloud computing is a cost-effective and dynamic business model. Currently cloud robotics is understood as a client server methodology which enables robots utilize resources and services placed at centralized servers. These cloud servers treat robots as any other client computer offering them platform, infrastructure, process or algorithm as a service. HTM5 is an OMG MDA based multi-view meta-model for agent oriented development of cloud robotic systems. HTM5 encourages design of peer-to-peer service ecosystems based on an open registry and matchmaking mechanism. In peer-to-peer cloud robotics, a robot can trade its hardware, software and functional resources as a service to other robots in the ecosystem. The peer-to-peer trade in such systems may be driven by contracts and relationships between its member agents. This article discusses trade-view model of HTM5 methodology and its use in developing a cloud robotic ecosystem that implements peer-to-peer, contract based economy. The article also presents a case study with experiments that implement distributed artificial intelligence and peer-to-peer service oriented trade on simulated and real robot colonies.

Pilot and Feasibility Study on Elderly Support Services Using Communicative Robots and Monitoring Sensors Integrated With Cloud Robotics

The concept of the digital divide is becoming more and more complex as access to computers and the use of computers, changes over time. When the existence of a “digital divide” first emerged, it revolved around access to computers and related technologies. The high cost of computers and related technologies creates a large divide between people who could afford them, and who had access to all the advantages of Information technology in general, and those who could not. ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) have become an indispensable tool for businesses. Competitiveness and productivity depend on them. Cloud Computing has also generated new business opportunities for companies that have understood the key to this new social and commercial space. Cloud Computing on education can bridge the knowledge divide, the resource divide and the digital divide, teachers could be empowered under the cloud warning. It can be on devices, notebook, e-book and cell-phone. Cloud Computing in order to reduce digital divide has come as a friendly way to provide computer applications to users without the need for those users to purchase, install or support software on their local computers and/or servers. This research will cover the facts and issues discovered into the Digital Divide, after exploring details and points of views from experts. Also, this research will provide two models and one framework to describe, explain and finally reduce the gap or as most of the researchers has been looking for building a bridge in order to reduce the digital divide. Since computers and, later, the Internet became popular and came to our business, there has been a different degree of acceptance thereof by the people. The variety of profiles ranging from the 'early adopter', that is one that is to last forever in this new technology, to the 'allergic' to the computer, because they do not know how to use password to login and/or prefers to work as they always have done. Is not the first time we hear about people who cannot make simples actions in a computer because their capabilities are very low. I'm talking about everyday situations, rather than more complex ones such as maintenance of machinery. This research will treat the Cloud Computing concept as a tool to Reduce Digital Divide; the digital divide will be related to issues of educational access to the benefits of digitalization and the capabilities of a group of students in three different high school centers to use ICT appropriately and contribute to sustainable development.

Cloud computing is a combination of computer technology and internet-based development. Cloud computing uses the term "cloud", or cloud, to describe the internet, which is often depicted on computer network diagrams. Cloud computing capacity is an information technology service that can be accessed via the internet without knowing the infrastructure behind it. This opens up the possibility of accessing and using technology more efficiently and flexibly. The development of information technology, especially cloud computing, has had a significant impact in various fields, including education. Cloud computing changes the way information technology is distributed and accessed, providing opportunities for educational institutions to access data and educational resources more efficiently and flexibly. It also helps educational institutions to focus more on core educational processes without having to manage technology infrastructure directly. Teaching about cloud computing is becoming increasingly important. Because through an introduction to the basic concepts, types, benefits and practical applications of cloud computing, students can understand the importance of this technology in the modern world. Thus, teaching and training measures such as those described in this study are expected to help increase the understanding and application of cloud computing among students, preparing them for the challenges and opportunities in the ever-evolving digital era.

The concept of cloud computing has recently changed how hardware, software, and information are handled. However, security challenges and credibility requirements have never changed and may have increased. Protecting cloud computing and providing security for its resources and users is one of the critical challenges. As a result, most users are afraid to use their resources, because many security problems must be met. For example, authentication and reliability are major security constraints and must be provided in a cloud computing environment. There is a wide range of authentication protocols in use, but the researcher has recommended the Kerberos protocol to represent and test it in a complex environment such as a mixed cloud environment. A model has been developed to implement Kerberos authentication in a hybrid cloud computing environment to securely access the cloud computing services provided. This model is represented using the OPNET Modeler 14.5 simulation system. The network efficiency was measured before and after the hacker. Findings presented in this research are supporting the ability of the Kerberos protocol to prevent illegal access to cloud computing services, whether from within the private cloud or the public cloud. While maintaining the efficient performance of the network.
