B Meson Decay Constants Using Relativistic Heavy Quarks

Neutral B meson mixing matrix elements and B meson decay constants are calculated. Static approximation is used for b quark and domain-wall fermion formalism is employed for light quarks. The calculations are done on 2+1 flavor dynamical ensembles, whose lattice spacings are 0: 086 fm and 0: 11 fm with a fixed physical spatial volume of about (2: 7 fm) 3 . In the static quark action, link-smearings are used to improve the signal-to-noise ratio. We employ two kinds of linksmearings and their results are combined in taking a continuum limit. For the matching between the lattice and the continuum theory, one-loop perturbative calculations are used including O(a) improvements to reduce discretization errors. We obtain SU(3) braking ratio x = 1: 222(60) in the static limit of b quark.

In a previous paper [I. Y. Aref’eva , Running coupling for holographic QCD with heavy and light quarks: Isotropic case, ], we investigated the dependence of the running coupling constant on temperature and chemical potential for holographic models of the light and heavy quarks, supported by an Einstein-dilaton-Maxwell action. In this paper, we study the dependence of the corresponding β-functions on the temperature and the chemical potential. As in the previous paper, we give special attention to the behavior of the β-functions near the first order phase transitions. We consider different types of boundary conditions for the dilaton. Only one of the possible boundary conditions yields results that agree with lattice calculations at zero chemical potential. The corresponding β-functions are negative and exhibit jumps at the first order phase transitions. We also show that the renormalization group fluxes are invariant with respect to the choice of the boundary conditions and that our exact solutions for the light and heavy quarks are unstable, as expected, given their negative dilaton potentials.

We present results for the static interquark potential, light meson and baryon masses, and light pseudoscalar meson decay constants obtained from simulations of domain wall QCD with one dynamical flavour approximating the s quark, and two degenerate dynamical flavours with input bare masses ranging from m{sub s} to m{sub s}/4 approximating the u and d quarks. We compare these quantities obtained using the Iwasaki and DBW2 improved gauge actions, and actions with larger rectangle coefficients, on 16{sup 3}x32 lattices. We seek parameter values at which both the chiral symmetry breaking residual mass due to the finite lattice extent in the fifth dimension and the Monte Carlo time history for topological charge are acceptable for this set of quark masses at lattice spacings above 0.1 fm. We find that the Iwasaki gauge action is best, demonstrating the feasibility of using QCDOC to generate ensembles which are good representations of the QCD path integral on lattices of up to 3 fm in spatial extent with lattice spacings in the range 0.09-0.13 fm. Despite large residual masses and a limited number of sea quark-mass values with which to perform chiral extrapolations, our results for light hadronic physics scale and agree with experimental measurementsmore » within our statistical uncertainties.« less

We present the results of the physical point simulation in 2+1 flavor lattice QCD with the nonperturbatively $O(a)$-improved Wilson quark action and the Iwasaki gauge action at $\beta=1.9$ on a $32^3 \times 64$ lattice. The physical quark masses together with the lattice spacing is determined with $m_\pi$, $m_K$ and $m_\Omega$ as physical inputs. There are two key algorithmic ingredients to make possible the direct simulation at the physical point: One is the mass-preconditioned domain-decomposed HMC algorithm to reduce the computational cost. The other is the reweighting technique to adjust the hopping parameters exactly to the physical point. The physics results include the hadron spectrum, the quark masses and the pseudoscalar meson decay constants. The renormalization factors are nonperturbatively evaluated with the Schr{\"o}dinger functional method. The results are compared with the previous ones obtained by the chiral extrapolation method.

We generate $2+1$ flavor QCD configurations near the physical point on a $96^4$ lattice employing the 6-APE stout smeared Wilson clover action with a nonperturbative $c_{\rm SW}$ and the Iwasaki gauge action at $\beta=1.82$. The physical point is estimated based on the chiral perturbation theory using several data points generated by the reweighting technique from the simulation point, wherer $m_\pi$,$m_K$ and $m_\Omega$ are used as physical inputs. The physics results include the quark masses, the hadron spectrum, the pseudoscalar meson decay constants and nucleon sigma terms, using the nonperturbative renormalization factors evaluated with the Schrodinger functional method.

We present a lattice computation of the first moment of the kao n’s leading-twist distribution amplitude. We use ensembles with 2+1 dynamical flavours of doma in wall fermions and the Iwasaki gauge action from the RBC and UKQCD joint dataset. We observethe expected chiral behaviour and obtain h ξ i (2 GeV) ≡ 3/5 a 1 (2 GeV) = 0.032(3), which agrees very well with other results obtained using QCD sum-rules and the recent lattice result from the UKQCD/QCDSF collaboration.

The quenched chiral logs are examined on a $16^3 \times 28$ lattice with Iwasaki gauge action and overlap fermions. The pion decay constant $f_{\pi}$ is used to set the lattice spacing, $a = 0.200(3) {\rm fm}$. With pion mass as low as $\sim 180 {\rm MeV}$, we see the quenched chiral logs clearly in $m_{\pi}^2/m$ and $f_P$, the pseudoscalar decay constant. We analyze the data to determine how low the pion mass needs to be in order for the quenched one-loop chiral perturbation theory ($\chi$PT) to apply. With the constrained curve-fitting method, we are able to extract the quenched chiral log parameter $\delta$ together with other low-energy parameters. Only for $m_{\pi} \leq 300 {\rm MeV}$ do we obtain a consistent and stable fit with a constant $\delta$ which we determine to be 0.24(3)(4) (at the chiral scale $\Lambda_{\chi}=0.8 {\rm GeV}$). By comparing to the $12^3 \times 28$ lattice, we estimate the finite volume effect to be about 2.7% for the smallest pion mass. We also fitted the pion mass to the form for the re-summed cactus diagrams and found that its applicable region is extended farther than the range for the one-loop formula, perhaps up to $m_{\pi} \sim 500-600$ MeV. The scale independent $\delta$ is determined to be 0.20(3) in this case. We study the quenched non-analytic terms in the nucleon mass and find that the coefficient $C_{1/2}$ in the nucleon mass is consistent with the prediction of one-loop $\chi$PT\@. We also obtain the low energy constant $L_5$ from $f_{\pi}$. We conclude from this study that it is imperative to cover only the range of data with the pion mass less than $\sim 300 {\rm MeV}$ in order to examine the chiral behavior of the hadron masses and decay constants in quenched QCD and match them with quenched one-loop $\chi$PT\@.

We report on a calculation of the B*Bpi coupling in lattice QCD. The strong matrix element for a B* to Bpi transition is directly related to the leading order low-energy constant in heavy meson chiral perturbation theory (HMChPT) for B mesons. We carry out our calculation directly at the b-quark mass using a non-perturbatively tuned clover action that controls discretization effects of order pa and (ma)^n for all n. Our analysis is performed on RBC/UKQCD gauge configurations using domain-wall fermions and the Iwasaki gauge action at two lattice spacings of ainverse = 1.729(25) GeV, ainverse = 2.281(28) GeV, and unitary pion masses down to 290 MeV. We achieve good statistical precision and control all systematic uncertainties, giving a final result for the HMChPT coupling g_b = 0.56(3)stat(7)sys in the continuum and at the physical light-quark masses. This is the first calculation performed directly at the physical b-quark mass and lies in the region one would expect from carrying out an interpolation between previous results at the charm mass and at the static point.

We report on our computation of the hadronic matrix elements of the four-quark operators needed for the study of $K^0-{\bar K^0}$ mixing beyond the Standard Model (SM). We consider nf=2+1 Domain-Wall fermions on Iwasaki gauge action with lightest unitary pion of 290 MeV and a single lattice spacing a=0.086 fm. The renormalization is performed non-perturbatively through the RI-MOM scheme and our results are converted perturbatively to MSbar. We have estimated the various systematic errors. Our results confirm a previous quenched study, where large ratios of non-SM to SM matrix elements were obtained.

We compute the matching coefficient between the quantum chromodynamics (QCD) and the non-relativistic QCD (NRQCD) for the flavor-changing scalar current involving the heavy charm and bottom quark, up to the three-loop order within the NRQCD factorization. For the first time, we obtain the analytical expressions for the three-loop renormalization constant tilde{Z}_s(x,R_f) and the corresponding anomalous dimension tilde{gamma }_s(x,R_f) for the NRQCD scalar current with the two heavy bottom and charm quark. We present the precise numerical results for those relevant coefficients (C_{FF}(x_0), ldots , C_{FBB}(x_0)) with an accuracy of about thirty digits. The three-loop QCD correction turns out to be significantly large. The obtained matching coefficient C_s(mu _f,mu ,m_b,m_c) is helpful to analyze the threshold behaviours when two different heavy quarks are close to each other and form the double heavy B_c meson family.

A bstract Holographic D-brane constructions, governed by the Dirac-Born-Infeld (DBI) action, play a central role in the AdS/CFT correspondence, particularly in applications to quantum chromodynamics and condensed matter systems. In this work, we demonstrate how to equip these bottom-up holographic models with dynamical boundary gauge fields, thereby introducing electromagnetic interactions into their dual field theory descriptions. As a direct application of this formalism, we compute the dispersion relations of the lowest quasinormal modes around both equilibrium and nonequilibrium steady states, and show that their behavior matches the predictions from hydrodynamics with dynamical U(1) symmetry.

Building a universal quantum computer is a central goal of emerging quantum technologies and it is expected to revolutionize science and technology. Unfortunately, this future does not seem very close, however, quantum computers built for a special purpose, i.e., quantum simulators, are currently being developed in many leading laboratories. Numerous schemes for quantum simulation have been proposed and realized using, e.g., ultracold atoms in optical lattices, ultracold trapped ions, atoms in arrays of cavities, atoms/ions in arrays of traps, quantum dots or superconducting circuits. The progress in experimental implementations is more than spectacular.Particularly interesting are those systems that simulate quantum matter evolving in artificial, or synthetic, Abelian or even non-Abelian gauge fields. Abelian gauge fields are analogues to the standard magnetic field and lead to fascinating effects such as the integer or fractional quantum Hall effects (IQHE, FQHE) and vortex lattices. Non-Abelian gauge fields couple the motional states of the particles to their internal degrees of freedom (such as hyperfine states for atoms or ions, electronic spins for electrons, etc). In this sense, external non-Abelian fields extend the concept of spin–orbit coupling, which is familiar from AMO and condensed matter physics. They lead to yet another variety of fascinating novel phenomena such as the quantum spin Hall effect (QSHE), 3D topological insulators, topological superconductors and superfluids of various kinds.Even more fascinating is the possibility of generating synthetic gauge fields that are dynamical, i.e., that evolve in time according to the corresponding lattice gauge theory (LGT). These dynamical gauge fields can also couple to matter fields, allowing the quantum simulation of such complex systems (notoriously hard to simulate using 'traditional' computers), which are particularly relevant for modern high-energy physics. So far there are only theoretical proposals for simulating Abelian LGTs, but many groups are working on extensions to the non-Abelian scenarios.The scope of this special issue of Journal of Physics B: Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics is on all of these developments, with particular emphasis on the non-Abelian case. Charm baryons, a class of heavy flavor baryons that contain one charm quark and two light quarks, provide an ideal platform to understand the dynamical behavior of light quarks in heavy quark systems and to test heavy quark symmetry and light quark chiral symmetry. The Belle and Belle II experiments have collected large data samples, corresponding to about ∼ 983.0 fb-1 and ∼ 427.9fb−1, respectively, that enable the investigation of charm baryons. This presentation reviews the latest progress at Belle and Belle II on studying charm baryons, including measurements of branching fractions, investigations of new resonances, and lifetime measurements.

We report on an exploratory study of domain wall fermions (DWF) as a lattice regularisation for heavy quarks. Within the framework of quenched QCD with the tree-level improved Symanzik gauge action we identify the DWF parameters which minimise discretisation effects. We find the corresponding effective 4$d$ overlap operator to be exponentially local, independent of the quark mass. We determine a maximum bare heavy quark mass of $am_h\approx 0.4$, below which the approximate chiral symmetry and O(a)-improvement of DWF are sustained. This threshold appears to be largely independent of the lattice spacing. Based on these findings, we carried out a detailed scaling study for the heavy-strange meson dispersion relation and decay constant on four ensembles with lattice spacings in the range $2.0-5.7\,\mathrm{GeV}$. We observe very mild $a^2$ scaling towards the continuum limit. Our findings establish a sound basis for heavy DWF in dynamical simulations of lattice QCD with relevance to Standard Model phenomenology.

We have simulated QCD using 2+1 flavors of domain wall quarks on a $(2.74 {\rm fm})^3$ volume with an inverse lattice scale of $a^{-1} = 1.729(28)$ GeV. The up and down (light) quarks are degenerate in our calculations and we have used four values for the ratio of light quark masses to the strange (heavy) quark mass in our simulations: 0.217, 0.350, 0.617 and 0.884. We have measured pseudoscalar meson masses and decay constants, the kaon bag parameter $B_K$ and vector meson couplings. We have used SU(2) chiral perturbation theory, which assumes only the up and down quark masses are small, and SU(3) chiral perturbation theory to extrapolate to the physical values for the light quark masses. While next-to-leading order formulae from both approaches fit our data for light quarks, we find the higher order corrections for SU(3) very large, making such fits unreliable. We also find that SU(3) does not fit our data when the quark masses are near the physical strange quark mass. Thus, we rely on SU(2) chiral perturbation theory for accurate results. We use the masses of the $\Omega$ baryon, and the $\pi$ and $K$ mesons to set the lattice scale and determine the quark masses. We then find $f_\pi = 124.1(3.6)_{\rm stat}(6.9)_{\rm syst} {\rm MeV}$, $f_K = 149.6(3.6)_{\rm stat}(6.3)_{\rm syst} {\rm MeV}$ and $f_K/f_\pi = 1.205(0.018)_{\rm stat}(0.062)_{\rm syst}$. Using non-perturbative renormalization to relate lattice regularized quark masses to RI-MOM masses, and perturbation theory to relate these to $\bar{\rm MS}$ we find $ m_{ud}^{\bar{\rm MS}}(2 {\rm GeV}) = 3.72(0.16)_{\rm stat}(0.33)_{\rm ren}(0.18)_{\rm syst} {\rm MeV}$ and $m_{s}^{\bar{\rm MS}}(2 {\rm GeV}) = 107.3(4.4)_{\rm stat}(9.7)_{\rm ren}(4.9)_{\rm syst} {\rm MeV}$.
