Decision support grievance redressal system using sentence sentiment analysis

The growing incidents of counterfeiting and associated economic and health consequences necessitate the development of active surveillance systems capable of producing timely and reliable information for all stake holders in the anti-counterfeiting fight. User generated content from social media platforms can provide early clues about product allergies, adverse events and product counterfeiting. This paper reports a work in progresswith contributions including: the development of a framework for gathering and analyzing the views and experiences of users of drug and cosmetic products using machine learning, text mining and sentiment analysis, the application of the proposed framework on Facebook comments and data from Twitter for brand analysis, and the description of how to develop a product safety lexicon and training data for modeling a machine learning classifier for drug and cosmetic product sentiment prediction. The initial brand and product comparison results signify the usefulness of text mining and sentiment analysis on social media data while the use of machine learning classifier for predicting the sentiment orientation provides a useful tool for users, product manufacturers, regulatory and enforcement agencies to monitor brand or product sentiment trends in order to act in the event of sudden or significant rise in negative sentiment.

This study conducted text mining and sentiment analysis on 800 Emirates Airline customer reviews from Skytrax to evaluate airline service quality.Through frequency analysis, TF-IDF analysis, and 3-gram analysis, key service elements were identified, while sentiment analysis and correlation analysis were used to analyze factors affecting service satisfaction.The analysis revealed strong correlations between customer satisfaction and ground service (0.55), cabin staff service (0.49), food service (0.48), and seat comfort (0.44).Notably, in the TF-IDF analysis, the 'business-class' keyword rose from 10th to 6th in frequency ranking, highlighting the importance of premium service.The 3-gram analysis identified transit service and special meal requirements as key areas of customer concern.Time series analysis indicated a decline in service satisfaction following the pandemic, suggesting the need for improvement.The theoretical significance of this study is that it presents a comprehensive analytical framework that combines text mining and sentiment analysis to analyze the service quality of FSC Airlines.It also made methodological contributions by capturing dynamic changes in service quality perception through time series-based sentiment analysis.From a practical perspective, the study proposed specific improvements in ground services, standardization of cabin crew service, enhancement of special meal services, and innovation in business class seating.While this research is expected to advance airline service quality management, it has limitations in analyzing only English reviews from a single platform.Future research should include various platforms and language groups.

This paper presents an application of sentiment analysis on customer feedback data in the area of heavy equipment repair services. Sentiment analysis is used as a part of a framework for text mining-based Customer Loyalty Improvement Recommender System (CLIRS). In order to provide business users of the system with accurate predictions for customer satisfaction metrics, the original algorithm for the opinion mining needed to be improved. The paper presents the background of the proposed approach, the current techniques used to mine text data and existing applications of sentiment analysis. We propose an aspect-based, taxonomy-driven approach for customized sentiment analysis. The contribution of this paper is the implementation and evaluation of the proposed methods that improve the accuracy and coverage of the opinion mining algorithm. The improvements are illustrated with examples covered by the algorithm in the customer dataset. The application of the proposed methods resulted in increasing the algorithm’s accuracy from 92% to 96%, and coverage from 36% to 48%. This research is an attempt to handle well-known issues in natural language processing that are currently not handled by text mining algorithms, such as ambiguity and context, opinionated verbs/nouns, subject recognition from pronouns. This is significant because the proposed techniques are generalizable to any application that uses sentiment analysis algorithm.

141 Frequency and Effect of Interruptions on Resident Workload in the Emergency Department

The steadily growing epidemic of diabetes mellitus poses a threat for global tuberculosis (TB) control. Previous studies have identified an important association between diabetes mellitus and TB. However, these studies have limitations: very few were carried out in low-income countries, with none in Africa, raising uncertainty about the strength of the diabetes mellitus-TB association in these settings, and many critical questions remain unanswered. An expert meeting was held in November 2009 to discuss where there was sufficient evidence to make firm recommendations about joint management of both diseases, to address research gaps and to develop a research agenda. Ten key research questions were identified, of which 4 were selected as high priority: (i) whether, when and how to screen for TB in patients with diabetes mellitus and vice versa; (ii) the impact of diabetes mellitus and non-diabetes mellitus hyperglycaemia on TB treatment outcomes and deaths, and the development of strategies to improve outcomes; (iii) implementation and evaluation of the tuberculosis 'DOTS' model for diabetes mellitus management; and (iv) the development and evaluation of better point-of-care diagnostic and monitoring tests, including measurements of blood glucose and glycated haemoglobin A(1c) (HbA(1c)) for patients with diabetes mellitus. Implementation of this research agenda will benefit the control of both diseases.

This study proposes a new model for service quality measurement using sentiment analysis and text mining techniques. This model aims to overcome traditional methods' time, cost and implementation difficulties and provide a more dynamic and efficient approach to service quality measurement. In addition, in this model, instead of the dimensions used in service quality measurements, such as SERVQUAL or SERVPERF, it is shown how to determine new categories and keywords specific to the service sector in which the model is used by text mining. Thus, it is aimed at something other than reaching more accurate results in service quality measurement. To achieve the model’s purpose, it aims to develop a service quality measurement model using social media data processed by text mining and sentiment analysis. To find an answer to this question, the keywords "flood", "meter", "rain", "irrigation", "infrastructure", "sewerage", "sewage", "maintenance hole ", "aski", "waterless", "water" were extracted from 109.844 tweets sent to the Twitter account of a municipality between 2016 and 2022 by text mining method. Service quality was measured by subjecting 5766 tweets containing the keywords extracted to sentiment analysis. As a result of the service quality measurement, 1922 negative, 973 positive and 2871 neutral tweets were identified. The average negative score was 0.51, the average positive score was 0.11, and the average neutral score was 0.38.

BackgroundTeaching and learning about topics such as bias are challenging due to the emotional nature of bias-related discourse. However, emotions can be challenging to study in health professions education for numerous reasons. With the emergence of machine learning and natural language processing, sentiment analysis (SA) has the potential to bridge the gap.ObjectiveTo improve our understanding of the role of emotions in bias-related discourse, we developed and conducted a SA of bias-related discourse among health professionals.MethodsWe conducted a 2-stage quasi-experimental study. First, we developed a SA (algorithm) within an existing archive of interviews with health professionals about bias. SA refers to a mechanism of analysis that evaluates the sentiment of textual data by assigning scores to textual components and calculating and assigning a sentiment value to the text. Next, we applied our SA algorithm to an archive of social media discourse on Twitter that contained equity-related hashtags to compare sentiment among health professionals and the general population.ResultsWhen tested on the initial archive, our SA algorithm was highly accurate compared to human scoring of sentiment. An analysis of bias-related social media discourse demonstrated that health professional tweets (n=555) were less neutral than the general population (n=6680) when discussing social issues on professionally associated accounts (χ2 [2, n=555)]=35.455; P<.001), suggesting that health professionals attach more sentiment to their posts on Twitter than seen in the general population.ConclusionsThe finding that health professionals are more likely to show and convey emotions regarding equity-related issues on social media has implications for teaching and learning about sensitive topics related to health professions education. Such emotions must therefore be considered in the design, delivery, and evaluation of equity and bias-related education.

Purpose:The study aims to reduce the monitor units (MUs) in the stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) treatment for lung cancer by adjusting the optimizing parameters.Methods:Fourteen patients suffered from stage I Non‐Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) were enrolled. Three groups of parameters were adjusted to investigate their effects on MU numbers and organs at risk (OARs) sparing: (1) the upper objective of planning target volume (UOPTV); (2) strength setting in the MU constraining objective; (3) max MU setting in the MU constraining objective.Results:We found that the parameters in the optimizer influenced the MU numbers in a priority, strength and max MU dependent manner. MU numbers showed a decreasing trend with the UOPTV increasing. MU numbers with low, medium and high priority for the UOPTV were 428±54, 312±48 and 258±31 MU/Gy, respectively. High priority for UOPTV also spared the heart, cord and lung while maintaining comparable PTV coverage than the low and medium priority group. It was observed that MU numbers tended to decrease with the strength increasing and max MU setting decreasing. With maximum strength, the MU numbers reached its minimum while maintaining comparable or improved dose to the normal tissues. It was also found that the MU numbers continued to decline at 85% and 75% max MU setting but no longer to decrease at 50% and 25%. Combined with high priority for UOPTV and MU constraining objectives, the MU numbers can be decreased as low as 223±26 MU/Gy.Conclusion::The priority of UOPTV, MU constraining objective in the optimizer impact on the MU numbers in SBRT treatment for lung cancer. Giving high priority to the UOPTV, setting the strength to maximum value and the max MU to 50% in the MU objective achieves the lowest MU numbers while maintaining comparable or improved OAR sparing.

Text analytics are well-known in the modern era for extracting information and patterns from text. However, no study has attempted to illustrate the pattern and priorities of newspaper headlines in Bangladesh using a combination of text analytics techniques. The purpose of this paper is to examine the pattern of words that appeared on the front page of a well-known daily English newspaper in Bangladesh, The Daily Star, in 2018 and 2019. The elucidation of that era’s possible social and political context was also attempted using word patterns. The study employs three widely used and contemporary text mining techniques: word clouds, sentiment analysis, and cluster analysis. The word cloud reveals that election, kill, cricket, and Rohingya-related terms appeared more than 60 times in 2018, whereas BNP, poll, kill, AL, and Khaleda appeared more than 80 times in 2019. These indicated the country’s passion for cricket, political turmoil, and Rohingya-related issues. Furthermore, sentiment analysis reveals that words of fear and negative emotions appeared more than 600 times, whereas anger, anticipation, sadness, trust, and positive-type emotions came up more than 400 times in both years. Finally, the clustering method demonstrates that election, politics, deaths, digital security act, Rohingya, and cricket-related words exhibit similarity and belong to a similar group in 2019, whereas rape, deaths, road, and fire-related words clustered in 2018 alongside a similar-appearing group. In general, this analysis demonstrates how vividly the text mining approach depicts Bangladesh’s social, political, and law-and-order situation, particularly during election season and the country’s cricket craze, and also validates the significance of the text mining approach to understanding the overall view of a country during a particular time in an efficient manner.

Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks (WMSNs) are networks of wirelessly interconnected sensor nodes equipped with multimedia devices, such as cameras and microphones. Thus a WMSN will have the capability to transmit multimedia data, such as video and audio streams, still images, and scalar data from the environment. Most applications of WMSNs require the delivery of multimedia information with a certain level of Quality of Service (QoS). This is a challenging task because multimedia applications typically produce huge volumes of data requiring high transmission rates and extensive processing; the high data transmission rate of WMSNs usually leads to congestion, which in turn reduces the Quality of Service (QoS) of multimedia applications. To address this challenge, This paper proposes the Neural Control Exponential Weight of Priority Based Rate Control (NEWPBRC) algorithm for adjusting the node transmission rate and facilitate the problem of congestion occur in WMSNs. The proposed algorithm combines Neural Network Controller (NC) with the Exponential Weight of Priority Based Rate Control (EWPBRC) algorithms. The NC controller can calculate the appropriate weight parameter λ in the Exponential Weight (EW) algorithm for estimating the output transmission rate of the sink node, and then ,on the basis of the priority of each child node , an appropriate transmission rate is assigned . The proposed algorithm can support four different traffic classes namely, Real Time traffic class (RT class); High priority, Non Real-Time traffic class (NRT1 class); Medium priority, Non Real-Time traffic class (NRT2 class); and Low priority, Non Real-Time traffic class (NRT3 class). Simulation result shows that the proposed algorithm can effectively reduce congestion and enhance the transmission rate. Furthermore, the proposed algorithm can enhance Quality of Service (QoS) by achieve better throughput, and reduced the transmission delay and loss probability.

With the overwhelming increase in the amount of texts on the web, it is almost impossible for people to keep abreast of up-to-date information. Text mining is a process by which interesting information is derived from text through the discovery of patterns and trends. Text mining algorithms are used to guarantee the quality of extracted knowledge. However, the extracted patterns using text or data mining algorithms or methods leads to noisy patterns and inconsistency. Thus, different challenges arise, such as the question of how to understand these patterns, whether the model that has been used is suitable, and if all the patterns that have been extracted are relevant. Furthermore, the research raises the question of how to give a correct weight to the extracted knowledge. To address these issues, this paper presents a text post-processing method, which uses a pattern co-occurrence matrix to find the relation between extracted patterns in order to reduce noisy patterns. The main objective of this paper is not only reducing the number of closed sequential patterns, but also improving the performance of pattern mining as well. The experimental results on Reuters Corpus Volume 1 data collection and TREC filtering topics show that the proposed method is promising.

Designing Effective Alarm Sounds

This study aims to analyze the sentiment of the Hindu community toward religious issues on social media, with a specific focus on Kapuas Regency, Central Kalimantan. The development of social media as a digital public sphere has positioned platforms such as Instagram and Twitter as primary spaces for the spontaneous and open expression of opinions, perceptions, and religious attitudes. This study is important because religious issues in digital spaces often influence social harmony and shape religious discourse within society. The research employs a quantitative approach using text mining and sentiment analysis based on Natural Language Processing (NLP). Primary data were collected through web scraping techniques, utilizing Apify for Instagram and asynchronous Python scripts for Twitter, with relevant keywords, hashtags, and geographic indicators. The analysis process includes text preprocessing (cleaning, tokenization, stopword removal, and stemming), followed by sentiment classification using a lexicon-based approach with the InSet dictionary into three categories: positive, negative, and neutral. The analysis results were evaluated using a confusion matrix, along with precision, recall, and F1-score metrics to assess model reliability. The findings indicate that positive sentiment predominates on both Instagram and Twitter, followed by neutral sentiment, while negative sentiment appears in only a small proportion. Positive sentiment is generally associated with expressions of prayer, gratitude, tolerance, and calls for togetherness, whereas negative sentiment tends to emerge in discussions related to ritual differences or responses to socio-religious controversies. The sentiment analysis model achieved an accuracy of 100% on Instagram data (self-evaluation) and 74.4% on Twitter data (manual evaluation), with relatively high precision and recall values, indicating that the results are statistically reliable.

The rapid growth of financial technology (fintech) services in Indonesia has significantly transformed digital transaction behavior, with digital wallets such as DANA becoming widely adopted. Despite high usage rates, public discourse on social media frequently highlights both positive experiences and recurring concerns related to system reliability and data security. Twitter, as a real-time public communication platform, provides a rich source of user-generated content that reflects public perception toward fintech services. This study investigates public sentiment toward DANA fintech services in Indonesia through sentiment analysis of Twitter data using machine learning approaches. Purpose:This study aims to analyze public perception of DANA fintech services based on sentiment expressed on Twitter and to compare the performance of several machine learning classification algorithms in identifying positive, neutral, and negative sentiments in Indonesian-language social media texts. Methods/Study design/approach: The study employs a quantitative descriptive approach using text mining and sentiment analysis techniques. Twitter data were collected via the Twitter API over a specified period and processed through preprocessing stages including text cleaning, tokenization, stopword removal, and stemming. Feature extraction was performed using the Term Frequency–Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF) method. Sentiment classification was conducted using Support Vector Machine (SVM), K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN), and Random Forest algorithms. Model performance was evaluated using accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score metrics. Result/Findings:The results indicate that public sentiment toward DANA is predominantly positive, driven by perceptions of transaction convenience and speed, followed by neutral sentiment, while negative sentiment is mainly associated with system disruptions and data security issues. Among the evaluated algorithms, SVM achieved the highest classification accuracy (91.4%), outperforming Random Forest and KNN. These findings demonstrate that SVM is more effective for sentiment classification of short Indonesian-language texts on social media platforms. Novelty/Originality/Value:This study contributes to the growing body of sentiment analysis research in Indonesia by providing empirical evidence on public perception of fintech services using machine learning techniques. By systematically comparing multiple classification algorithms in the context of Indonesian Twitter data, the study offers methodological insights and practical implications for fintech service providers in improving service quality, communication strategies, and user trust.
