DSC的超光谱图像无损压缩算法

The data size of hyperspectral image is too large for storage and transmission, and it has become a bottleneck restricting its applications. So it is necessary to study a high efficiency compression method for hyperspectral image. Prediction encoding is easy to realize and has been studied widely in the hyperspectral image compression field. Fractal coding has the advantages of high compression ratio, resolution independence, and a fast decoding speed, but its application in the hyperspectral image compression field is not popular. In this paper, we propose a novel algorithm for hyperspectral image compression based on hybrid prediction and fractal. Intraband prediction is implemented to the first band and all the remaining bands are encoded by modified fractal coding algorithm. The proposed algorithm can effectively exploit the spectral correlation in hyperspectral image, since each range block is approximated by the domain block in the adjacent band, which is of the same size as the range block. Experimental results indicate that the proposed algorithm provides very promising performance at low bitrate. Compared to other algorithms, the encoding complexity is lower, the decoding quality has a great enhancement, and the PSNR can be increased by about 5 dB to 10 dB.

In order to improve the detection and recognition ability of multiscale hyperspectral images with weak edges, a lossless compression algorithm of multiscale hyperspectral images with weak edges based on improved deep learning is proposed. Using deep-level feature information extraction method to extract fine-grained features of cancer cells from multiscale hyperspectral images with weak edges, constructing 3D surface structure reconstruction model of multiscale hyperspectral images with weak edges, combining with variational Bayesian filter detection method to decompose multiscale color structure features of multiscale hyperspectral images with weak edges, and constructing gradually refined output structure model of multiscale hyperspectral images with weak edges, Fuzzy image coarse-scale neural network learning method is used to realize block matching and edge detection of multi-scale hyperspectral images with weak edges. Ultra-fine-grained features of multi-scale hyperspectral images with weak edges are extracted. Deep learning algorithm is used to adaptively optimize the lossless compression process of multi-scale hyperspectral images with weak edges, and the optimal design of lossless compression algorithm for multi-scale hyperspectral images with weak edges is realized. The simulation results show that the adaptive convergence of lossless compression of multi-scale weak edge hyperspectral images with this method is good, the feature resolution is strong, and the hyperspectral feature detection and recognition ability is good.

In this paper, we propose an efficient compression algorithm for hyperspectral images. It is based on the correlation coefficients adaptive AT-3DSPIHT coding in the domain of WPT (wavelet packet transform). According to the characteristics of correlation coefficients between spectral bands, a binary tree spectral band grouping algorithm is carried out to divide the adjacent spectral bands into different mode groups. Along with this, WPT with the corresponding decomposition levels and a proper AT-3D zerotree are determined adaptively. Several AVIRIS images are used to evaluate the proposed algorithm. Compared with the existing 3D-based algorithms, the proposed adaptive AT-3DSPIHT achieves the best compression performance at lower rates. Moreover, at the low correlated adjacent bands, our proposed algorithm also beats the 2DSPIHT and JPEG2000-MC algorithm respectively.

Graphics Processing Units (GPU) are becoming a widespread tool for general-purpose scientific computing, and are attracting interest for future onboard satellite image processing payloads due to their ability to perform massively parallel computations. This paper describes the GPU implementation of an algorithm for onboard lossy hyperspectral image compression, and proposes an architecture that allows to accelerate the compression task by parallelizing it on the GPU. The selected algorithm was amenable to parallel computation owing to its block-based operation, and has been optimized here to facilitate GPU implementation incurring a negligible overhead with respect to the original single-threaded version. In particular, a parallelization strategy has been designed for both the compressor and the corresponding decompressor, which are implemented on a GPU using Nvidia's CUDA parallel architecture. Experimental results on several hyperspectral images with different spatial and spectral dimensions are presented, showing significant speed-ups with respect to a single-threaded CPU implementation. These results highlight the significant benefits of GPUs for onboard image processing, and particularly image compression, demonstrating the potential of GPUs as a future hardware platform for very high data rate instruments.

The compression method, first proposed in 2012, is based on the non-negative tensor decomposition for interference hyper-spectral image data. As a tensor is generated by a huge amount of interference hyper-spectral images, the multiplicative update algorithm is made extremely complicated, and even unfeasible. To reduce the computational cost and speed up the convergence, this paper, based on the characteristics of interference hyper-spectral images, develops a new algorithm using different down-sampling factors for different non-negative wavelet sub-band tensors. The experimental results showed that this algorithm could significantly shorten the running time, while maintaining a good compression performance compared with the conventional methods.

The article considers the relevance of the development of lossless image compression and transmission algorithms and their application for creating transport video surveillance systems. A brief overview of lossless transport image compression methods is provided. We propose a method for compressing transport plots based on the pyramid-recursive method of splitting the source image into polygons of various shapes and sizes. We consider two new algorithms for implementing the proposed method that are fundamentally different from each other: with a transition to the spectral region and without a transition to the spectral region of the original signal to ensure lossless compression. The results of testing various well-known lossless compression algorithms are analyzed: series length, Huffman, and arithmetic encoding, and compared with the proposed algorithms. It is shown that the proposed algorithms are more efficient in terms of compression ratio (2—3 times) compared to the known ones, while the computational complexity increases approximately by more than 3-4 times.

A multidimensional incremental parsing algorithm (MDIP) for multidimensional discrete sources, as a generalization of the Lempel-Ziv coding algorithm, is investigated. It consists of three essential component schemes, maximum decimation matching, hierarchical structure of multidimensional source coding, and dictionary augmentation. As a counterpart of the longest match search in the Lempel-Ziv algorithm, two classes of maximum decimation matching are studied. Also, an underlying behavior of the dictionary augmentation scheme for estimating the source statistics is examined. For an m-dimensional source, m augmentative patches are appended into the dictionary at each coding epoch, thus requiring the transmission of a substantial amount of information to the decoder. The property of the hierarchical structure of the source coding algorithm resolves this issue by successively incorporating lower dimensional coding procedures in the scheme. In regard to universal lossy source coders, we propose two distortion functions, the local average distortion and the local minimax distortion with a set of threshold levels for each source symbol. For performance evaluation, we implemented three image compression algorithms based upon the MDIP; one is lossless and the others are lossy. The lossless image compression algorithm does not perform better than the Lempel-Ziv-Welch coding, but experimentally shows efficiency in capturing the source structure. The two lossy image compression algorithms are implemented using the two distortion functions, respectively. The algorithm based on the local average distortion is efficient at minimizing the signal distortion, but the images by the one with the local minimax distortion have a good perceptual fidelity among other compression algorithms. Our insights inspire future research on feature extraction of multidimensional discrete sources.

In machine learning problems, there are two main algorithms: supervised learning and unsupervised learning. Supervised learning algorithms can be used to classify data for tagged data; non-supervised learning algorithms can be used to cluster data for unlabeled data. This paper discusses the basic principles of clustering algorithm and selection of key parameters of clustering algorithm. The application of clustering algorithm in image compression is also analyzed. This paper also emphasizes the problems that should be paid attention to when using clustering. Finally, a practical case of image compression with K-means is given.

Objectives. The widespread use of systems for capturing light fields is due to the high quality of the reproduced image. This type of capture, although qualitatively superior to traditional methods to capturing volumetric images, generates a huge amount of data needed to reconstruct the original captured 4D light field. The purpose of the work is to consider traditional and extended to four-dimensional image compression algorithms, to perform a comparative analysis and determine the most suitable.Methods. Mathematical methods of signal processing and methods of statistical analysis are used.Results. Algorithms are compared and analyzed in relation to the compression of four-dimensional light fields using the PSNR metric. The selected evaluation criterion is affected not only by the dimension of the compression algorithm, but also by the distance of the baseline of the capture setting, since the difference between images increases with the distance between the optical centers of each camera matrix. Thus, for installations consisting of an array of machine vision cameras located on racks and placed in a room, the obvious choice would be to use conventional image compression methods. Furthermore, based on the assessment of the arbitrariness of video compression methods, it should be noted that the XVC algorithm remains undervalued, although its results are higher. Algorithm AV1 can be considered the next in order of importance. It has been established that the latest compression algorithms show higher performance if compared to their predecessors. It has also been shown that with a small distance between the optical centers of the captured images, the use of video compression algorithms is preferable to the use of image compression algorithms, since they show better results in both three-dimensional and four-dimensional versions.Conclusions. A comparison of the results obtained shows the need to use algorithms from the video compression family (XVC, AV1) on installations with a long baseline (mounted on camera stands). When working with integrated light field cameras (Lytro) and setting the capture with a short baseline, it is recommended to use image compression algorithms (JPEG). In general, video compression algorithms are recommended, in particular XVC, since on average it shows an acceptable level of PSNR in both the case of a short and long installation baseline.

Improving the ground resolution of SPOT 5 compared with SPOT 4 involves multiplying the data rate by 4. This made it necessary to seek a new image compression algorithm able to significantly increase the compression ratio while complying with the image quality requirements of SPOT users. We finally selected a DCT based algorithm embedded in a regulation loop in order to obtain a constant rate at the compressor output. This algorithm was first tested using simulated images. Quantitative and qualitative analyses were carried out at different development stages. Finally, a wide range of images chosen from the SPOT image database was used for validation purpose. This led us to propose several optimizations which have now been thoroughly tested. The result is an almost lossless compression algorithm, which will be used on both SPOT5 and HELIOS II, the French space agency's forthcoming Earth observation missions.

As medical imaging facilities move towards film-less imaging technology, robust image compression systems are starting to play a key role. Conventional storage and transmission of large-scale raw medical image datasets can be very expensive and time-consuming. Recently, we proposed a memory-assisted lossless image compression algorithm based on Principal Component Analysis(PCA). In this paper, we further improve the performance of the algorithm in two different directions: Firstly, we replace PC A with NMF (Non Negative Matrix Factorization). NMF has several advantages in representing images with an image-like basis, results in sparse factors, and provides better user control over iterations. Secondly, we expand the single-level model with a new multilevel decomposition/projection framework to further reduce entropy of residual images. Our experimental results on X-ray images confirm that both modifications provide significant improvements over the single level PCA based algorithm as well as existing non-memory based techniques.

Problem statement: Identifying the new lossless image compression algorithm for high performance applications like medical and satellite imaging; a high quality lossless image is most important when reproduction which leads to classify the data for decision making. Approach: A new lossless hybrid algorithm based on simple selective scan order with Bit Plane Slicing method is presented for lossless Image compression of limited bits/pixel images, such as medical images, satellite images and other still images common in the world. Efficient coding is achieved by run length and modified Huffman coding. This approach is combined with efficient selective scan order for entire image in one pass through. Results: The new hybrid algorithm achieves good compression rate, compared to the existing schemes of coding with different test images. Conclusion: Compared to the existing standards JPEG-LS and CALIC, the compression rate is reduced with our proposed algorithm for different standard test images.

Although subband and wavelet coding have been proved to be very efficient for lossy image compression, it is generally not possible to represent the output of most subband/wavelet filters by a limited number of bits and yet guarantee perfect reconstruction. This is a fundamental problem when applying subband and wavelet coding to lossless image compression. This paper presents a solution to this problem by an investigation of interpolative subband coding. Based on an evaluation of the decorrelation performance of some typical image interpolation techniques, a new interpolative coding algorithm has been proposed. The new algorithm has been shown to be superior to two related algorithms, the hierarchical interpolation algorithm and the recently published minimum entropy pyramid algorithm.

In this article we report on a study of how to use the context tree weighting (CTW) algorithm for lossless image compression. This algorithm has been shown to perform optimally, in terms of redundancy, for a wide class of data sources. Our study shows that this algorithm can successfully be applied to image compression even in its basic form. We also report on possible modifications of the basic CTW algorithm to let it work more efficiently for image data. Our research is briefly focussed on the compression of medical gray scale images.

Hyperspectral images are a widely used remote sensing technique. These images are three-dimensional data structures, where the x and y axes contain spatial information and the z-axis contains spectral information or image bands. Usually, these bands can reach the order of hundreds, generating a considerable amount of information. Due to storage limitations and communication bandwidth, the use of compression techniques becomes essential. For spatial applications, a standard commonly used in the literature is CCSDS 123, developed by the Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems, which describes the algorithm for lossless compression of hyperspectral images. In this context, we implemented the prediction stage of the CCSDS 123 algorithm in the Xilinx Zynq-7000 FPGA. The developed processor provides a good trade-off to meet real-time requirements at low-cost.
