Implementation of authentic assessment in the project based learning to improve student’s concept mastering

This study aims to describe the development of learning log for junior high school students on global warming with demonstration based on Predict-Observe-Explain (POE). The development process started with the preparation of learning log, test trial to obtain the data to be repaired, and obtained learning log tools better. The method used was the descriptive method. Two classes in one of junior high school in Bandung were selected by cluster random sampling. Data collected through the assignment of learning log, field notes through observation and interviews. The instruments were examined in this study is learning log’ task and rubric. While research instruments consisted of student’s and teacher’s interviews guides, field notes, and rubric for assessment authentic’s effectiveness. The trial showed that questions in task still need to be improved in terms of the sentence and the editorial content, rubrics for learning log developed based on the responses of the students. Meanwhile, the effectiveness of authentic assessment test phase is (45%) quite good. The results of the application authentic assessment can measure students' POE. Questions on the task and the rubric developed well. The effectiveness of authentic assessment in application phase is (85%) very good. The response of students and teacher about authentic assessment developed positively.

This research is a type of evaluation research with a quantitative descriptive approach. The evaluation model used is the Stake Countenance Model. The subjects of this study were all teachers in Public Elementary School 101775 Sampali, Deli Serdang Regency with a total of 12 teachers. Data collection techniques using observation, questionnaires, documentation and interviews. In analyzing data using descriptive methods. From the results of research conducted on the evaluation of the implementation of authentic assessment in Public Elementary School 101775 Sampali Deli Serdang Regency with a stake count maintenance evaluation model of 90.39%. This is evidenced from the three stages of stakeholder evaluation in the implementation of authentic assessment which consists of an input phase (Antecedents phase) which is evaluated consisting of analysis of learning documents, attitude assessment documents, knowledge assessment documents and skills assessment very well complete with a percentage of 89.46% . In the transaction phase that was evaluated, namely how the authentic assessment carried out by the teachers at Public Elementary School 101775 Sampali was carried out very well with a percentage of 90.71%. In the evaluated outcome phase which is the reporting of student learning outcomes and teacher understanding of the implementation of authentic assessment in schools has been going very well with a percentage of 91%. The next suggestion for the implementation of authentic assessment is continuously monitored so that the teacher's understanding of the implementation of authentic assessment can be carried out properly.

Integrated curriculum is a popular way to develop 21st-century skills, but most of the materials are written on the books separately. Furthermore, web-based learning is an online learning media that can be accessed using an internet connection anytime and anywhere. However, many educational websites do not apply the principles of effective learning. Besides, the traditional learning methods tend to be bored for the students. In order to solve this problem, this study designed a website education that uses interactive content to assist students in learning levers in the human body topic as one of the integrated science materials. The process of developing an educational website consists of three steps: (1) analysis, (2) design, (3) construction making. This research method used descriptive method, and the experts' judgment will evaluate it on content, language, and media/IT. The questionnaires used the technology acceptance model (TAM) and five-dimensional interactivity to investigate the readability of the subjects' perception responses. The research subject was three science teachers and 31 students on private Junior High School in Bandung. According to the result, generally, it has a good evaluation of each aspect. But, the website education needs a strong signal to access for not taking load time consumer.

This study explores the implementation and understanding of authentic assessment within Nepal’s integrated curriculum for grades 1-3, which emphasizes the development of soft skills alongside academic learning—utilizing a convergent mixed-methods design, including quantitative surveys of 280 teachers and qualitative interviews with eight teachers, conducted in December 2023. The findings identify significant gaps between the theoretical principles of authentic assessment and its practical application. While approximately two-thirds of teachers report familiarity with authentic assessment, many continue to rely on traditional methods such as rote memorization and paper-pencil tests. Key challenges include resource constraints, inadequate professional development, and time limitations. The findings underscore the need for enhanced teacher training, clear policy guidelines, and improved resources to better align assessment practices with the goals of the integrated curriculum, thereby fostering a more holistic educational experience that effectively nurtures academic competencies and soft skills in early-grade learners. This study treats students by role-play simulation for learning the human circulatory system. Creative skill and concept mastery to be assessed aspects at the end of learning. The method used in this research is the quasi-experimental method. The sample was taken by cluster random sampling technique with the population of students in 8th grade at one of Junior High School in Bandung. The samples in the experimental class n=24 and control class n= 24.the data obtained using the rubric of creative skill consist of process and product. For treatment in experiment class, implemented the role play while for the control class conducted the group discussion. This study aims to examine the effect of role-playing on students’ concept mastery and creative skills. The data result of students’ concept mastery was taken by pretest and posttest. The result of students’ concept mastery was indicated by mean of posttest score in the experimental class, which is implemented the role play is higher than the control class, 79.50 > 64.00, respectively. Creative skills in the process that will be seen during the implementation of the role play and creative skills in product measured by the scenario of the role play. This research indicated that role play could be implemented in the teaching-learning process. The research findings show that there is a significant effect of role-playing on students’ concept mastery and lead students to be skillfully creative.

The purpose of this research is to improve the science process skills and scientific attitudes of students. In a lesson study activity, teachers of some Junior High Schools collaboratively developed a teaching learning process using the inquiry model for expansion concepts. The teaching learning process was carried out at one junior high schools in Bandung. The method used is the Classroom Action Research. Meanwhile, the instruments used in this research are observation formats involving teacher and student activities, science process skills and scientific attitudes of students, science process skill tests for students and lesson study observation sheets for observers. The objects of this research were the students class VII E 2010/2011 as many as 38 students who were enrolled in science learning. The results showed an increase in students' science process skills in science learning after using the inquiry learning model. The average of the normalized gain score of science process skills in the firts cycle is 0.67, in the second cycle is 0.49, and in the third cycle is 0,70. Based on observations in this research, the using of inquiry learning model can improve the science process skills of students. Besides, the scientific attitudes of students consisting of curiosity, cooperation, responsibility and discipline are well developed during the learning process.Keywords: learning science-based inquiry, science process skill, scientific attitude.


 
 
 This research aimed at recognizing language problems faced by the students in comprehending narrative reading text. The investigation includes the students’ language problems and the teachers’ solution regarding to his students’ language problems while comprehending narrative reading text. This research was carried out in one of Junior High School in Bandung and involved 20 students as research sample. In gaining the research data, the writers used several instruments including observation sheets, semi structured interview questions for both students and teacher, and a set of narrative reading comprehension test. The finding showed the students were poor in vocabulary, pronunciation, difficulties search about character in the text, difficulties search about generic structure in the text, difficulties search a moral value in the text, difficulties in answering the reading comprehension question. In addition, the finding of interview data showed solution for those problems were that teacher used teacher give particularly in reading skill comprehension and do repetition to give the mean of the words and then give the students clues for some information and make the students create map-brain.
 
 

This study aimed to analyze the implementation of the Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) model with the Socioscientific Issues (SSI) of environmental pollution in an effort to improve students’ scientific knowledge. The population in this research was 53 grade VII students at a junior high school in Bandung. The research used a quasi-experimental design with 24 multiple choice questions as the research instrument. The experimental group was taught through the POGIL model with the SSI context, while the control group was taught through a scientific approach. Based on data analysis, the n-gain category of scientific knowledge of the experimental class in content knowledge, procedural, and epistemic domains were dominant in the medium category of 50%, high of 46%, and high of 73%. The n-gain category of the control class in content knowledge, procedural, and epistemic domains was dominant in the low category of 52%, low of 41% and high of 67%. The result obtained from the t-test on normal and homogenous data showed that there was a significant difference. Based on the data analysis, the scientific literacy skill of students who received POGIL with SSI was better than students who received the scientific approach, and the attainment of students’ scientific knowledge domains was in the high category. Critical thinking ability is an important ability to have. However, students' mathematical critical thinking skills are still low. Efforts that can be applied are through the Metagontive Scaffolding learning approach. The Metcagontive Scaffolding approach has been proven to be able to improve mathematical communication skills, mathematical literacy, and self-efficacy. This study was conducted to test whether Metagontive Scaffolding can improve the mathematical critical thinking skills of junior high school students better than direct learning. This study uses a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The population in this study were all eighth grade students in one of the public junior high schools in Bandung. This study uses two classes as a sample from a number of class VIII randomly graded. This study aims to examine the implications of the implementation of the Pengembanagan Keprofesian Berkelanjutan (PKB) policy on teacher career management in junior high schools in Bandung. The implication is seen in Penilaian Kinerja Guru (PKG) planning where the teacher explores her career needs, in the implementation of PKB where the teacher tries her career strategy, and in the evaluation where the teacher reflects on PKB. This study aims to find out how teacher’s to service the students, the role of the teacher in facilitating slow learners in mathematics learning, and other constraints that the slow learners faced. This research was a case study in a junior high school in Bandung. Participants in this study were five students in 8th grade. This research was carried out through observation the learning activities, interviewing the slow learner students, and interviewing mathematics teachers. The one of the result in this study was showed that children who are classified as slow learners were not well facilitated to achieving mathematics learning goals. Slow learners need a longer study time than their peers, so they need special education services. One of alternative solution that can be done by teachers is that teachers should pay special attention such as teacher gives opportunity to slow learners get more time to study the subjects material and do the clinical teaching. The importance of teachers conducting clinical teaching are giving the direction to the slow learner students in the learning process, and helping the students to overcome the difficulties faced by slow learner students.

The study was conducted with the aim to find out how the application of the method of making a match based on word provocation to improve the ability to write Arabic in students. This research is a quasi-experimental study with research subjects of VIII grade students of Miftahul Junior High School in Bandung. Data obtained by conducting tests, observations, and interviews with instruments in the form of essay test questions, observation guidelines, and interview guidelines. The collected data were analyzed using quantitative data analysis. The results of this study indicate that 1) at this stage the learning process using the make a match method begins with the presentation of Arabic text contained in the material. 2) improvement in learning outcomes of writing skills through the application of the make a match method can be seen in students' writing ability to increase. 3) student learning outcomes using the make a match method have increased with an average value of 86 with the number of students who have completed learning as much as 95%.

Mathematics is a science that can not be separated from other science as well as in everyday life. The ability of mathematical Connection aims to connect the mathematics with other disciplines and also daily life so that math can be more meaningful. This study aims to determine the ability of mathematical connections of junior high school students VIII class in one of junior high school in Bandung on Comparable material reviewed through gender. Subject consists of 35 students. In addition, the discussion on the mathematical connection ability for junior high school students from the difference of gender, between students and students in terms of ability penyimannya. The understanding of the mathematical connection capability rests on the concept of socio-cultural construction that there is a difference between men and women, resulting in their respective roles and duties. While based on the results of his research states that the difference of ability between male and female students and the results showed that the mathematical connection ability of female students is much better that is with an average of 3.71 from the students 3.59. In addition to gender factors are also found other factors that can affect the achievement of the ability of the connection of the readiness of students and teachers to learn, basic skills of students and basic knowledge of mathematical concepts

The Purpose of this study was determine the effect of Autonomy training on student of “X” junior high school in Bandung. The Sample of this study was 20 students who were classified as having low student engagement degrees were choosen used purposive sampling method. The Student Engagement instrument (SEI) adapted from theory J. Appleton, S. Christenson, D. Kim, dan A. Reschly (2017)is self-repot measure of cognitive and affective. Criterion Validity of this Instrument is 0.302- 0.877 and reliability is 0.747. Behavioral Engagement instrument adapted from theory J. Appleton, S. Christenson, D. Kim, dan A. Reschly (2017), with criterion validity is 0.317- 0.605 only for this research. The result showed there was an increase in the level of student engagement before and after training, statistical test show Asymp Sig <0.05 (N=-3.923) indicates the Hi is accepted, there is a difference in student engagement through autonomy training on student. The suggestion of this research is that student are expected to able to apply this training activity to daily life such as the method of making plans, goal and effort before the beginning of the school semester, So that they can be regular to make targets by themeselves and achieve them.

Mathematics educators commonly believe that an open-ended approach could facilitate students to build their creative thinking ability and its disposition, especially in geometry. This research belongs to a quasi-experiment that used a non-equivalent control group design. The purpose of this research was to analyze the correlation between creative thinking ability and creative thinking disposition through an open-ended learning approach toward area and volume of flat geometrical objects problems. Two classes are selected as the sample, they are the control group and experiment group. The open-ended approach was used in the experiment group then direct instruction in the control group. The population is all of the eighth-grade students at one of the junior high school in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. This study used to test and non-test as the research instruments. The test instrument was a creative thinking ability test while the non-test instrument was a questionnaire. These instruments were given after the learning process then analyzed by using Bivariate Correlation through SPSS. According to the analysis results, the finding is: the correlation coefficient between creative thinking ability and creative thinking disposition is at the middle level. The conclusion is there is a significant correlation between students’ creative thinking ability and students’ creative thinking disposition.
