Abstract

Abstract Japan has basically a market economy and in a market economy the market mechanism is the most fundamental institution in which enterprises are free to decide the prices they charge, the quantity they produce, and other terms of business, and government regulation of business is kept minimal. However, in every country in the world with a market economy, there are always some measures taken by the government which affect business activities. Even in a market economy in which the market mechanism operates and government intervention should be kept minimal, there is need for supplemental measures to deal with market imperfections.
