Writing research can be challenging--especially writing the conceptual model. Deciding how much to include of the conceptual model and where to place it is difficult. This experienced research author presents four steps to guide the nurse author in writing the conceptual model for research reports.

Today, competition is increasing rapidly due to developments in technology. Firms should follow new methods in the process of the product from the producer to the consumer (Supply Chain) to maintain their place in the competition. For the continuation of a successful Supply Chain, long-term cooperation based on mutual trust and cooperation should be established between the supplier and the customer. Purchasing timely and quality raw materials from suppliers is the first step of this chain. If one of the supplier links is broken, the entire chain will be broken. As a result, business decisions on supplier selection are critical. The difficulty of supplier selection is complicated by several competing considerations. Cost, quality, design capability, manufacturing competence, technical capability, technological capability, performance history, managerial capability, degree of collaboration, financial performance, and closeness are only a few of these considerations. In this instance, multi-purpose decision-making methodologies should be applied rather than traditional supplier selection analyses. One of the Multi-Criteria Decision Making strategies that aid the decision maker is the Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process. This study started by examining the factors affecting supplier selection. The literature review focused on Fuzzy AHP applications. Criteria suitable for the examined company were determined and the process was started by creating matrixes. Living with a left ventricular assist device (LVAD) can be associated with many burdens and worries for patients. They are often dependent on the support of their spouses. This can also be a burden on the spouses and the relationship. However, the relationships quality of LVAD couples has so far scarcely been investigated. Couple's mutual coping with stress (dyadic coping, DC), as well as depression are important factors influencing relationship quality. To examine patients' with an LVAD and their partners' ability to cope with stress and levels of depression, and the impact these have on relationship quality. The study investigates relationship satisfaction in couples after LVAD implantation as well as influencing factors such as DC or depression. Differences in relationship quality, DC, and depression between patients and spouses are examined using validated questionnaires. N = 39 heterosexual couples with male patients participated. Relationship quality of patients was higher than that of their spouses. The actor-partner-interdependence model provided for spouses actor effects on relationship satisfaction of their own DC, partner DC, and depression. For patients, actor effects of partner DC and depression as well as a partner effect of depression were found. In addition, DC of patients was estimated by both partners to be lower than DC of spouses. The results indicate a high rate of depression among LVAD patients and spouses. This study contributes to the knowledge about the mental state of LVAD couples and demonstrates that the spouses should be considered during treatment.

Mate poaching occurs when a person attracts another, whom he or she knows is already in an exclusive relationship, into a sexual or romantic relationship. Mate poaching is involved in the evolution of many relationships. Yet, little is known about the quality of these relationships. We examined relationship quality between individuals whose relationships were formed via mate poaching versus not (i.e., a relationship formed serially without overlap with another relationship). We compared ratings of quality from the perspectives of poachers, poached, and co-poached individuals. Adult participants (n = 660) in a romantic relationship responded to questions assessing relationship quality. Those in relationships formed from poaching rated their relationships as lower in relationship satisfaction, commitment and trust, and higher in jealousy, and had higher rates of romantic and sexuality infidelity in their current relationship compared to individuals in non-poached relationships. Those who were poached from an existing relationship rated their current relationship as lower in commitment than did those who poached their current partner into a relationship. The study also provides first insights regarding relationship quality for those who identify as co-poached. We discuss these findings in terms of implications for understanding how relationships are formed and the qualities of those that endure.

Army commanders and trainers need to know the current job performance levels of their troops. They need this information as the basis for making decisions about when and where to deploy units in battle, how much and where to allocate resources to training, what training readiness value to enter in the monthly Unit Status Report, and what specific training the soldiers should receive. The problems are that currently few data are gathered, infrequently (e.g., SQT data every two years on a decreasing number of skill areas; ARTEPs rarely!). The reasons for these problems are many. Principal among them are resource constraints (e.g., ammo, ranges, personnel time) and measurement capability limitations (e.g., lack of instrumentation and inability to directly observe in field/actual equipment situations, and nonevaluative training devices). The results are incomplete data that are out of date–and older data are of dubious value due to personnel turbulence and skills decay. At the 25th HFS meeting we presented a concept for improving this situation and our progress towards its application. (cf. Finley, Strasel, Schendel, and Hawley, 1981). Now we describe our progress in the last year.

We test a justice–quality model in which peer justice and justice climate are related to the service quality provided by the work unit. Based on the effort–reward imbalance model, we propose that units perceiving fair treatment provide better delivery of the core service (functional service quality) and better relational service beyond the core service (relational service quality). We also test whether the cross-level relationship of high service quality delivered by work units translates into high customer ratings of the service quality they receive. Furthermore, we propose that high service quality increases the work unit’s influence on their customers’ quality of life (QoL). We test these hypotheses using hierarchical linear modelling with 724 employees and 1,137 customers nested in 89 health care organizations providing services to persons with intellectual disabilities (PID). Customers’ ratings were assessed by the legal guardians of the PID. Results showed that justice climate is related to functional service quality, whereas peer justice is related to relational service quality. Additionally, results showed that high service quality delivered by work units relates to high customer ratings, which, in turn, are associated with the perceived influence of work units on customers’ QoL. We discuss the implications for justice and service research.

Black women in the United States experience higher rates of adverse maternal and birth outcomes (e.g., depressive symptoms and preterm birth), influenced by social and psychosocial factors including mother-father relationship quality. Existing measures of relationship quality often overlook the unique dynamics within Black families, requiring a more nuanced approach. This study aims to contextualize the multidimensional nature of relationship quality between pregnant Black women and the fathers of their babies. Using a cross-sectional design, we analyzed data from 405 women enrolled in the Biosocial Impacts on Black Births study. Participants completed questionnaires at 19-29 weeks gestation on six indicators of relationship quality: frequency of contact, frequency of father's involvement during pregnancy, relationship before and during pregnancy, support, and conflict. Latent class analysis was used to identify a construct of relationship quality. Three distinct classes of relationship quality were identified: "no relationship," "conflictual relationship," and "good relationship." Sensitivity analyses showed that while marital or cohabitation status was highly correlated with both the relationship indicators and identified classes, its inclusion as an additional indicator did not alter classification in the latent class model. These classes highlight the intricacies of relationship dynamics, which may be specific to Black families. This study underscores the importance of considering the multifaceted context of relationship quality, which is essential for designing culturally informed public health strategies or interventions. The implications of our findings are significant for both research and clinical interventions aimed at improving birth outcomes for diverse populations. There are high rates of mental disorders among prisoners. Prisoners are also likely to have difficulties with intimate relationships, perhaps related to the imprisonment, but their mental health may be relevant. There is a dearth of research on intimate relationship qualities and mental health of offenders and their partners over time. To explore mental health and relationship trajectories among men in prison, and their partners, before the men's release, through a time 6 months post-release, and then again 8 years later, and to test associations between relationship quality and mental health. Data stem from the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC)-funded longitudinal 'Families and Imprisonment Research' (FAIR) project on paternal imprisonment and family resilience. Inclusion criteria for the study were men serving a short- to medium-term prison sentence who were within 4 months of release; with a current or ex-partner with whom they have at least one child; and for whom there were data on mental health and relationship factors during imprisonment, and at 6 months and 8 years post-release. Similar data were also obtained for their (ex-)partners. The main sample comprised 39 men and 39 women who were in the same 'family set' for the first two waves, and after 8 years, 26 men and 30 women were retained. Just over 40% of the men and their (ex-)partners each disclosed that they had a mental health problem preceding his release. Proportions fluctuated slightly over time, with some dissonance between self-perceived disorder and self-ratings on a symptoms rating scale. Twenty-nine couples sustained their relationship during the transition between prison and release, but after 8 years, only four remained together. There was little evidence of association between measures of mental health and relationship quality among either the men or their partners. The findings challenge assumptions about the extent to which partners can play fully supportive roles in a former prisoner's transition from institutional life back into the community, as partners are also likely to be experiencing difficulties during this time. Thus, former prisoners and their families should be afforded equal access to support and assistance during offender rehabilitation.

To examine gesture and motor abilities in relation to language in children with language impairment (LI). Eleven children with LI (aged 2;7 to 6;1 [years;months]) and 16 typically developing (TD) children of similar chronological ages completed 2 picture narration tasks, and their language (rate of verbal utterances, mean length of utterance, and number of different words) and gestures (coded for type, co-occurrence with language, and informational relationship to language) were examined. Fine and gross motor items from the Battelle Developmental Screening Inventory (J. Newborg, J. R. Stock, L. Wneck, J. Guidubaldi, & J. Suinick, 1994) and the Child Development Inventory (H. R. Ireton, 1992) were administered. Relative to TD peers, children with LI used gestures at a higher rate and produced greater proportions of gesture-only communications, conventional gestures, and gestures that added unique information to co-occurring language. However, they performed more poorly on measures of fine and gross motor abilities. Regression analyses indicated that within the LI but not the TD group, poorer expressive language was related to more frequent gesture production. When language is impaired, difficulties are also apparent in motor abilities, but gesture assumes a compensatory role. These findings underscore the utility of including spontaneous gesture and motor abilities in clinical assessment of and intervention for preschool children with language concerns.

Objective: Individuals with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) are attending college at higher rates than ever before. While much research has been performed to assess academic and vocational outcomes, very few studies have examined quality of life (QoL) outcomes. The present study sought to closely examine the role of treatment, executive functioning, symptom severity, and demographic factors in predicting quality of life among college students with ADHD. Method: Data for the proposed study was gathered through the four year, longitudinal Trajectories Related to ADHD in College Students (TRAC) project and were analyzed to identify differences in quality of life among college students with ADHD according to treatment status, executive functioning, ADHD symptom severity, race, ethnicity, and sex. Predictors were compared across individuals with and without ADHD. Results: Predictors for individuals with and without ADHD were comparable, with no significant differences within the variables explored. Medication, but not therapy, was predictive of QoL in Year 1, while executive functioning was predictive of QoL in Years 1 and 4. Conclusion: Medication and executive functioning emerged as the most important contributors to QoL in the present model and should be considered in treatment approaches for college students with ADHD.

Client satisfaction in construction industry can be defined as the ability of a contractor to meet the client expectations. A contractor must have a thorough understanding of client expectations and be able to satisfy these expectations. The outcomes of the construction projects can be evaluated in numerous ways. One of the methods is to measure the satisfaction of participants as represented by the differences between their expectations and perceptions. This measurement is used widely in construction as it promises benefits, such as the improvement of product delivery, and enhances services quality by identifying some necessary changes. Satisfaction measurement is gauged by evaluating the level of client satisfaction of construction performance. The measurement of client satisfaction is also based on the quality of the end product. This evaluation is used to encourage contractors to improve their performance to a required level and to ensure that the projects are delivered as expected in terms of time, budget and quality. This paper discusses client satisfaction attribute on contractor performance. The aim of this paper is to reach the most important factors influencing client satisfaction level of performance provided by contractor in Jordanian construction industry. The results shows that there are seven extremely important factor that have a significant affect in client satisfaction level and immediately need to improve namely (1)service quality (2)Communication skills (3)adherence to budget, (4)safety performance, (5)adherence to schedule, (6)sit personnel skills, and (7)management capabilities.
