Declarative layout constraints for testing web applications

The architecture of a new code generator for digital signal processors (DSPs) and the motivations for a new high-level specification environment are described. Graphical signal flow graph (SFG) and the Silage language are used as input specifications. Extremely efficient code can be generated for existing commercially available DSP processors. Because of the DSP knowledge embedded in the system, the code generated is about five to 50 times faster than the one produced with conventional C compilers and is comparable to the code generated by DSP experts. The code generator comprises part of a powerful DSP design environment that allows the user to choose a solution based on one or more commercially available DSP processors or to select one of the DSP silicon compilers available in this framework. System-level or bit true software simulators or hardware accelerators can also be called at different stages of the design. >

The paper focuses on bugs in web applications that can be detected by analyzing the contents and layout of page elements inside a browser's window. Based on an empirical analysis of 35 real-world web sites and applications (such as Facebook, Dropbox, and Moodle), it provides a survey and classification of more than 90 instances of layout-based bugs. It then introduces Cornipickle, an automated testing tool that provides a declarative language to express desirable properties of a web application as a set of human-readable assertions on the page's HTML and CSS data. Such properties can be verified on-the-fly as a user interacts with an application.

A framework defined as a structure thatsupports the development of dynamic websites, web applications, and services. Framework code and design are often reusable to assist customization, resource service, and API-related tasks. This study discussed current practice to help a developer understand PHP frameworks adoption for web application development. Three approaches were selected to understand the features suitability of the PHP frameworks: the systematic approach, score criteria evaluation, and PHP framework technical factors. A comparison of 23 different frameworks features also has been studied that involves features such as ORM, Code Generator, Template Engine, and CRUD Generator. Besides PHP framework features, understanding the basic core PHP to build web application would help a lot in learning PHP frameworks. Moreover, new developers should not limit themselves to a particular PHP framework only but also allow themselves to explore various PHP frameworks in the development of web application projects.

This paper addresses conceptual modeling and automatic code generation for search engine integration with data intensive Web applications. We have analyzed the similarities (and differences) between IR and database systems to extend an existing domain specific language for data-driven Web applications. The extended Web modeling language specifies the search engine’s index schemas based on the data schema of the Web application and uniquely designs the interaction between the database, the Web application, the search engine and users. We also provide an implementation of a CASE tool extension for visual modeling and code generation. Experimentation of the proposed approach has been successfully applied in the context of the COOPER project.

In today’s mobile-driven world, organizations face the challenge of adapting legacy Web applications to pervasive information systems, such as mobile applications, ensuring seamless accessibility across devices. This paper presents a systematic, three-phase approach to reengineering Web applications into mobile applications: Reverse-engineering, Transformation, and Forward-engineering. In the reverse-engineering phase, high-level conceptual models of the Web application are generated to capture its architecture and functionality. During the transformation phase, these models are refined using Unified Modeling Language (UML) profiles to align with the requirements of mobile systems. The forward-engineering phase utilizes the Acceleo technology, along with predefined mapping rules and code patterns, to automate the generation of mobile application code. A case study is conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of this framework, revealing a significant reduction in manual effort throughout the reengineering process. This approach offers a scalable and efficient solution for transforming Web applications into mobile applications, contributing to advancements in model-driven engineering and software reengineering.

Web applications service a gamut of users with a mix of static and dynamic resources: requests come from different devices running different Web agents (typically, Web browsers) with different capabilities. In a majority of such interactions, services are embedded in an HTML page and displayed on a Web browser. Consequently, Web application development has been tightly coupled with the platforms that a particular site intends to support; application developers have been asked to decide where to run what at design time to develop services using location-specific technologies and interweave them with static resources. Such difficulties stem from lack of adequate infrastructural support for platform-agnostic development and deployment framework. This paper presents the design and implementation of a framework for Web application development which hides the heterogeneity of the Internet and the underlying interaction model. It has been meticulously designed such that it is non-intrusive and requires little change to the existing Web infrastructure. The framework is built on top of a programming model that provides a uniform view across different platforms and thus hides the heterogeneity and distributivity of the Internet. Adaptive deployment involves placement specification and compiler translation. The uniformity gives rise to rapid prototyping and development, thereby reducing costs and improving productivity. The adaptiveness enables QoS aware service provisioning.

웹 2.0의 확산과 함께 기존의 페이지 간 이동 대신 하나의 페이지에서 여러 개의 웹서비스를 인터페이스하는 웹페이지가 많이 사용되고 있다. 이러한 클라이언트 페이지를 매시업 클라이언트라고 부르는데, 이들은 복잡하고 다양한 기능을 지원하는 제어부를 포함한다. 본 논문에서는 이동 제어의 모델 기반의 코드 생성 방법을 제시한다. 먼저 REST 서비스 패턴을 클라이언트 페이지의 뷰와 뷰 이동에 적용하는 방법을 제안하고, 각 뷰로부터 서비스 메소드 호출이나 뷰 이동이 가능한 타입 조건을 제시한다. 또한 제안된 방법을 적용하여 XForms 페이지의 코드를 자동생성하는 프로토타입 시스템을 개발하였다. 이동 설계 방법을 적용한 매시업 클라이언트 페이지 생성 시스템을 구현하였다. 개발된 자동 생성 시스템은 개발자의 관여 없이 이동 제어 기능을 포함한 클라이언트 페이지의 코드를 생성하며, 체계적인 모델과 이동 패턴에 기반하여 생성된 결과 코드가 이해하기 쉽고 간단하다. 또한 사용자가 필요한 컨트롤만을 포함하여 서비스의 개수가 많아지는 경우에도 적용할 수 있다. As web 2.0 becomes one of the important architecture styles, more web applications adopt single page structure instead of multiple web pages and navigations between pages. A single page web application client, called a mashup client in this paper, interfaces more than one services and allows users to navigate in the page. A mashup client page includes complicated functions and has to handle various styles of services and user requirements, and therefore is usually developed manually. In this paper, we propose a model driven code generation approach for in-page navigations. We propose a page model and view navigation design approach, applying REST service architecture patterns. Then, we consider type conditions for each view to have service calls or navigation controls. Also, we developed an XForms page code generation system to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method. The developed system generates mashup client pages including navigation controls between services and views. This system can generate ready to use codes from service specifications, so this can help to reduce the development overhead. Moreover, our approach is based on formal model and navigation patterns so the generated result code is simple and easy to understand, and includes only the necessary controls. Therefore, the proposed approach can be more effective for the case of a large number of services.

Abstract— Website development traditionally demands extensive technical expertise, significant time investment, and manual coding effort, creating substantial barriers for non-technical users, small businesses, and rapid prototyping scenarios. Recent advancements in large language models have opened new possibilities for automating complex development workflows through natural language understanding. This paper presents Mochi, an intelligent website builder that achieves prompt-to-production website generation using Next.js, OpenAI GPT models, Inngest orchestration, and E2B sandboxing. The proposed system enables users to describe website requirements in plain natural language, which are then automatically translated into complete, functional, and responsive web applications. The architecture integrates four key components: a Next.js-based frontend for server-side rendering, OpenAI API for natural language processing and code generation, Inngest for event-driven workflow orchestration, and E2B sandbox environments for secure isolated code execution and validation. Users interact with an intuitive interface where textual prompts are processed through the OpenAI language model to extract intent, generate appropriate layouts, components, and styling, which are then validated in sandboxed environments before real-time rendering. Experimental evaluation using diverse website requirement prompts demonstrates that Mochi reduces development time by approximately 85% compared to traditional manual coding, achieves 92% accuracy in intent interpretation for well-structured prompts, and generates production-ready websites within an average of 45 seconds. The system successfully handles various website categories including portfolios, business landing pages, and content-driven sites while maintaining responsive design principles and modern web standards. Results validate that AI-driven automation combined with secure execution environments can democratize web development, enabling individuals without programming knowledge to create professional websites efficiently. This work contributes to the growing field of AI-assisted software development and demonstrates practical implementation of large language models in automated code generation workflows. UML is an industry standard abstraction language, which encompasses a wide range of structural and behavioural diagrams. It reduces the gap between the functional requirements and system design phase of the software development process. Automated code generation from UML reduces development time and enables effective communication between managers and developers. Our tool exploits the one to one mapping between structural diagrams and object oriented code. Behavioural diagrams like activity, sequence and state diagrams are merged into a single structural diagram for code generation. The UML design diagrams are converted to platform independent textual representation, XML Metadata Interchange (XMI). The XMI parser generates an abstract syntax tree (AST). A template matching algorithm is used to convert the AST to the Java code. The tool also enables code generation in a phased manner to implement and verify the features of each diagram. The evaluation of the tool is shown using a case study and the results are compared with existing open source code generation tools. The generated OO code is functional and executable.

Model Driven Development (MDD) requires model-to-model and/or model-to-text transformations to produce application code from high level descriptions. Creating such transformations is in itself a complex task, which requires mastering meta-modeling, ad hoc transformation languages, and custom development tools. This paper presents ALMOsT.js, an agile, in-browser framework for the rapid prototyping of MDD transformations, which lowers the technical skills required for Web and mobile developers to start be proficient with modeling and code generation. ALMOsT.js is shown at work in the creation of IFMLedit.org, a browser-based, online/offline environment for the MDD specification and rapid prototyping of web and mobile applications.

Nowadays, the technology of QR codes is one of the promising areas of development of the IT industry, which has found application in various industries, business areas, medicine, etc. In the field of education, QR codes are used to increase the interactivity of classes, provide additional multimedia content, conduct surveys and other control activities. This work presents the key features of QR codes, their architecture and main components. The use of QR codes in automating the process of accounting for students’ attendance is considered. A web application has been developed for teachers, the interface of which allows them to generate QR codes for academic disciplines. A mobile application with an integrated QR-code scanner was developed for students. All attendance data is recorded in the teacher’s electronic attendance register. A conceptual data model of the system is presented, as well as the main algorithms of its operation related to the generation and scanning of QR codes. The practice of using the developed system demonstrates the effectiveness of monitoring attendance data by promptly entering it into an electronic journal.

End-users who are nonprogrammers create web applications by using advanced web development tools. However, these tools are not supported by any methodological process which produces that web applications are of low quality. This paper presents an approach to bring web engineering principles to the end-user community. We complement the web engineering method OOWS with tools that allow end-users to develop web applications by: (1) describing web applications in terms of the end-users’ knowledge about the application domain, (2) automatically obtaining a web application prototype by means of the OOWS code generation strategy, and (3) personalizing the web application look and feel by simply selecting a design template. To achieve this, an ontology-based strategy is introduced to support end-users throughout the web application development. We also introduce a strategy that allows us to define domain-independent presentation templates.

The system is a web Application which acts as Guide for providing labour to those in need when specific input is given to the system. This system basically aids not just the labourers but also the other businesses as well as the consumers. Every labourer will have to enter his/her detail, with his professional specifications and what kind of job they are looking for. Businesses can make use of this application in terms of auctions, inventories and contracts. Consumers on the other hand get to select from a pool of labourers whom they think might be the most suited for the job that requires to be done.
