Multiwavelet Frames from Refinable Function Vectors

It is shown that there exists a frame wavelet with fast decay in the time domain and compact support in the frequency domain generating a wavelet system whose canonical dual frame cannot be generated by an arbitrary number of generators. We show that there exist wavelet frame generated by two functions which have good dual wavelet frames, but for which the canonical dual wavelet frame does not consist of wavelets, according to scaling functions.

Construction of nonseparable dual [formula omitted]-wavelet frames in [formula omitted

It is an open problem whether any pair of Bessel sequences with wavelet structure can be extended to a pair of dual frames by adding a pair of singly generated wavelet systems. We consider the particular case where the given wavelet systems are generated by the multiscale setup with trigonometric masks and provide a positive answer under extra assumptions. We also identify a number of conditions that are necessary for the extension to dual (multi-) wavelet frames with any number of generators, and show that they imply that an extension with two pairs of wavelet systems is possible. Along the way we provide examples that demonstrate the extra flexibility in the extension to dual pairs of frames compared with the more popular extensions to tight frames.

Dual frames are generalized Riesz bases which have potential applications in signal processing. In this paper, the construction of dual frames of matrix-valued wave packet systems in the matrix-valued function space [Formula: see text] from dual pairs of atomic wave packet frames in [Formula: see text] is studied. A class of matrix-valued dual generators from its associated dual pair of atomic wave packets has been obtained. We provide a characterization of matrix-valued dual window functions in terms of orthogonality of wave packet Bessel sequences. A perturbation result with respect to window functions for matrix-valued dual frames is given. It is well known that an orthogonal Parseval Hilbert frame for a Hilbert space turned out be an orthonormal basis for the space, however, this is not true for an orthogonal matrix-valued wave packet Parseval frame for the underlying matrix-valued function space. We give a type of matrix-valued orthonormal basis associated with an orthonormal basis of [Formula: see text].

An explicit method for the construction of a tight wavelet frame generated by the Walsh polynomials with the help of extension principles was presented by Shah (Shah, 2013). In this article, we extend the notion of wavelet frames to periodic wavelet frames generated by the Walsh polynomials on R+ by using extension principles. We first show that under some mild conditions, the periodization of any wavelet frame constructed by the unitary extension principle is still a periodic wavelet frame on R + . Then, we construct a pair of dual periodic wavelet frames generated by the Walsh polynomials on R + using the machinery of the mixed extension principle and Walsh–Fourier transforms.

Asymptotic Property of Dual Frames of a Wavelet Frame Yielded by Several Refinable Functions

<p>In view of the good properties of nonstationary wavelet frames and the better flexibility of wavelets in Sobolev spaces, the nonstationary dual wavelet frames in a pair of dual Sobolev spaces are studied in this paper. We mainly give the oblique extension principle and the mixed extension principle for nonstationary dual wavelet frames in a pair of dual Sobolev spaces Hs(Rd) and H-s(Rd).</p>

Wavelet analysis is a particular time-or space-scale representation of signals which has found a wide range of applications in physics, signal processing and applied Mathematics in the last few years. We show that there exist wavelet frame generated by two functions which have good dual wavelet frames, but for which the canonical dual wavelet frame does not consist of wavelets, according to scaling functions.

To construct dual frames with good structure for a given frame is a fundamental problem in the theory of frames. The tensor product duals of tensor product frames can provide a rank-one decomposition of bounded antilinear operators between two Hilbert spaces. This paper addresses tensor product dual frames. We derive a necessary and sufficient condition for two tensor product Bessel sequences to be a pair of dual frames; obtain explicit expressions of all dual frames and tensor product dual frames of tensor product frames; and demonstrate the existence of non-tensor product dual frames of tensor product frames.

A dimension invariance property for finite frames of translates and Gabor frames is discussed. Under appropriate support conditions among the frame and dual frame generating functions, we show that a pair of dual frames evaluated in a given space remains a valid dual set if they are naturally embedded in the underlying space of almost arbitrarily enlarged dimension. Consequently, the evaluation of duals in a very large dimensional space is now easily accessible by merely working in a space of some much smaller dimension. A number of uniform and non-uniform schemes are studied. To satisfy the support conditions, a method of finding valid alternate dual functions with small support via a known parametric dual frame formula is discussed. Oftentimes it is convenient to have truncated approximate duals that satisfy the support conditions. Stability studies of the dimension invariance principle via such approximate duals are also presented.

In this paper, we introduce the notion of Walsh shift-invariant space and present a unified approach to the study of shift-invariant systems to be frames in L2(ℝ+). We obtain a necessary condition and three sufficient conditions under which the Walsh shift-invariant systems constitute frames for L2(ℝ+). Furthermore, we discuss applications of our main results to obtain some known conclusions about the Gabor frames and wavelet frames on positive half line.

We provide explicit constructions of particularly convenient dual pairs of Gabor frames. We prove that arbitrary polynomials restricted to sufficiently large intervals will generate Gabor frames, at least for small modulation parameters. Unfortunately, no similar function can generate a dual Gabor frame, but we prove that almost any such frame has a dual generated by a B-spline. Finally, for frames generated by any compactly supported function φ whose integer-translates form a partition of unity, e.g., a B-spline, we construct a class of dual frame generators, formed by linear combinations of translates of φ. This allows us to chose a dual generator with special properties, for example, the one with shortest support, or a symmetric one in case the frame itself is generated by a symmetric function. One of these dual generators has the property of being constant on the support of the frame generator.

Vector‐valued frames were first introduced under the name of superframes by Balan in the context of signal multiplexing and by Han and Larson from the mathematical aspect. Since then, the wavelet and Gabor frames in have interested many mathematicians. The space models vector‐valued causal signal spaces because of the time variable being nonnegative. But it admits no nontrivial shift‐invariant system and thus no wavelet or Gabor frame since is not a group by addition (not as ). Observing that is a group by multiplication, we, in this paper, introduce a class of multiplication‐based dilation‐and‐modulation ( ) systems, and investigate the theory of frames in . Since is not closed under the Fourier transform, the Fourier transform does not fit . We introduce the notion of Θa transform in , and using Θa‐transform matrix method, we characterize frames, Riesz bases, and dual frames in and obtain an explicit expression of duals for an arbitrary given frame. An example theorem is also presented.

Frames are more stable as compared to bases under the action of a bounded linear operator. Sums of different frames under the action of a bounded linear operator are studied with the help of analysis, synthesis and frame operators. A simple construction of frames from the existing ones under the action of such an operator is presented here. It is shown that a frame can be added to its alternate dual frames, yielding a new frame. It is also shown that the sum of a pair of orthogonal frames is a frame. This provides an easy construction of a frame where the frame bounds can be computed easily. Moreover, for a pair of orthogonal frames, the necessary and sufficient condition is presented for their alternate dual frames to be orthogonal. This allows for an easy construction of a large number of new frames.

In this paper, we introduce the structure of nonuniform nonhomogeneous dual wavelet frames over non-Archimedean fields. A characterization of nonuniform nonhomogeneous dual wavelet frames in Sobolev spaces over non-Archimedean fields is obtained.
