PrefaceThe ModTech Professional Association in cooperation with “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iasi and Constanta Maritime University as the host institution organized the 6th edition of the ModTech2018 International Conference, in the Complex Bulevard Hotel in Constanta, between 13 and 16 June 2018. Other prestigious institutions, from Romania and abroad, such as the Society of Powder Technology of Japan, the Silesian University of Technology of Gliwice, Poland, “Alecu Russo” University of Balti, the Republic of Moldova, “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu, “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati, “Stefan cel Mare” University of Suceava and The General Association of the Engineers in Romania (AGIR) were also at our side as co-organizers. The ModTech Professional Association currently has 300 members from Romania and abroad and 6 subsidiaries in South Korea, Iraq, Poland, Turkey, Serbia, and Republic of Moldova.The authors and co-authors of the 6th edition were from 19 countries and the participants from 15 countries such as USA, Japan, South Korea, India, Germany, Poland, Serbia, Republic of Moldova, Bulgaria, Netherlands, Croatia, Romania, Albania, Mexic, Algeria.List of Conference Committees are available in this PDF.

The dominant feature of the current stage of society development is the update, refinement and innovation of the technological processes and products whose ultimate goal is to satisfy the market requirements. New and modern technologies should be considered in terms of their applicability in industry while the materials can lead to an increase in the quality of the end products. Replacing the existing technologies with innovative and eco-efficient technologies can contribute to an added value increase in the production of new materials.Materials are one of the most dynamic and prospective fields, with applications in all other fields. The development of new advanced materials and technologies shall contribute to the procurement of a wide range of reliable products, with competitive prices and worldwide performance, high sensitivity and functionality, user-friendly and reduced energy consumption, for different industrial applications.Research in the field of advanced/intelligent materials supposes a fundamental, experimental, laboratory and technological research and its approach has to be linked to the application. This involves, even for the niche fields, complex projects which result in scientific issues in top journals, patents and functional models.The third edition of ModTech International Conference was held in Mamaia, Romania, between June 17-20, with the Professional Association in Modern Manufacturing Technologies, ModTech, as main organizer, and the Constanta Maritime University, Constanta, Romania, Silesian University of Technology, Gliwice, Poland, the Technical University of Chisinau, Republic of Moldova and the Donetsk National Technical University, Donetsk, Ukraine as co-organizers. The ModTech2015 International Conference brought together representatives of technology and materials manufacturers, various universities, professional associations and research institutes that exchanged the latest knowledge on the conference topics. This edition was attended by 140 participants from 17 countries. The purpose of this paper is to popularize survival swimming, which is currently the almost sole focus of utilitarian swimming. The survival swimming skills are reduced among the Romanian populace, even among the people in urban areas, with higher education. In rural areas, survival swimming skills tend to zero. The study has three objectives: to identify the swimming skills in a group of pupils who has started to learn how to swim in the Swimming and Physical Therapy Complex of the "Stefan cel Mare" University of Suceava; to improve their reaction ability in life-threatening drowning situations by teaching them essential swimming skills; and to increase the distance that the subjects can swim over independently by practicing survival swimming strokes.

ForewordThe 23rd edition of Innovative Manufacturing Engineering & Energy International Conference (IManEE 2019) is the result of a collaboration between the Department of Manufacturing and Industrial Management of the University of Piteşti (Romania) and the Department of Manufacturing Engineering of the “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iaşi (Romania).The first conference was organized in May 1996 at Iaşi and, since 1999, the conferences have been organized alternately, in Iaşi and Chişinău, by the collaboration of the Machine Manufacturing Departments from the “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iaşi (Romania) and from the Technical University of Moldova from Chisinau (Republic of Moldova). By considering the new trends and requests valid in the field of manufacturing engineering from the entire world, starting from 2013, the name of the conference was changed in „Innovative Manufacturing Engineering” and later in „Innovative Manufacturing Engineering and Energy”. The purpose of this paper is to explore the methodology that has adopted to implement PBL in textile engineering education at “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu (LBUS) which also highlights its potential influence on Six Sigma projects that has implemented in a textile manufacturing industry. The function of both PBL and Six Sigma approaches is to solve the problems by executing projects in a systematic way. Structurally, they are quite similar in nature. Many academic institutes around the world are currently introducing PBL to enhance the quality of higher education. On the other hand manufacturing units are trying to shorten their Six Sigma project duration, but interconnection between both issues is not always evident or addressed. Therefore, this study contributes to effective utilization of PBL in implementing Six Sigma projects. In this paper, at first PBL has been introduced in the textile engineering education through a collaborative project with a textile factory, where Six Sigma projects have also been executed simultaneously. The PBL team has contributed to the Six Sigma project team to solve the problem in factory premises. Finally, the students’ performance and the contributing effect of PBL activities to Six Sigma project have been assessed by conducting quantitative survey method containing structured questionnaires. The survey results revealed that the students’ performance has been upgraded through PBL activities. The PBL also showed a positive impact on executing Six Sigma project successfully and able to shorten the project duration. This paper has pointed out the necessity of introducing PBL to enhance the quality of textile engineering education as well as unifying PBL with Six Sigma approach for effective project execution within the Organization.

This paper presents a case study for an improvement method applied in “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu, Romania. The ECRS method has its roots in manufacturing, specifically in improvement processes. The novelty lies in applying this method in Higher Education. Considering the existing know-how in process improvements of the human resource from the University and the importance of quality in the organisation’s performance, this paper sought to focus on using one of the most important principles of lean manufacturing in the administrative sector. An observation form was designed in order to analyse the process and by using the ECRS method and brainstorming for ideas with key stakeholders, the time needed by final-year students in order to complete the “University check-out” form was reduced.

The role of education in shaping the future is widely recognized. The world is becoming more complex, interdependent and unsustainable and this calls for a change in lifestyle. Thus, education for sustainable development is given increased attention in universities worldwide. Transformation of education into sustainability education implies systemic thinking and interdisciplinary approaches. At “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu there has been carried out an experimental, optional course which aimed to achieve an integrated approach to sustainability, fostering dialogue across multiple areas of knowledge. This paper presents an analysis of the activity of creating short video-clips related to sustainability and the impact that this teaching method has on the students.

Between June 6 and 7, 2024, the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca hosted the second edition of the scientific conference ICEMS-BIOMED - International Conference on Electromagnetic Fields, Signals and BioMedical Engineering - dedicated to the research in electrical and biomedical engineering. Organized under the aegis of EUT+ and based on the collaborative relations between prestigious academic institutions from Romania (Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, „Nicolae Bălcescu” Land Forces Academy of Sibiu and „Ştefan cel Mare” University of Suceava), the 2024 edition enjoyed the presence of researchers from 8 European countries: Spain, Greece, Poland, Latvia, Austria, Switzerland, Czech Republic and Romania. As in the case of the previous edition, the conference was held in a hybrid format; following the evaluation process, out of a total of 40 papers initially uploaded on the site, only 27 were presented, the 13 rejected papers representing a percentage of 32.5%. The Conference was attended by 4 invited speakers, who held lectures of forty minutes each, the rest of the papers being presented exclusively orally. In this way, a total of 27 papers were presented: 4 by invited speakers and 23 regular papers. The main objective of this scientific event was to create emulation in the academic world in topics of great relevance and interest and to offer an opportunity to young researchers to present their newest results in approaching the following topics: • Electromagnetic Fields • Electromagnetic Compatibility • Interactions between Electromagnetic Waves and Biological Systems • Biomedical Engineering • Modern Solutions for Diagnostics and Treatment The event took place in the new conference center of the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (UTC-N Hub) and in the presentation room there were about 50 people: authors (senior researchers or doctoral students), master’s students, sponsors and guests. The regular presentations took place over a period of 15 minutes - 10 minutes for the presentation itself and 5 minutes for discussions and questions and the online presentations were made through the Teams platform. On April 12, 2022, at the age of 91, the heart of the world-famous biologist, doctor of biological sciences, professor, honored worker of science and technology of Ukraine, academician of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, full member of the Academy of Engineering and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, honorary doctor Saskatchewan University of Canada. Honorary Doctor of the University of Suceava "Stefan cel Mare" (Romania), Honorary Citizen of Chernivtsi and Lock Haven (USA), ex-rector of Chernivtsi Yuriy Fedkovych National University Stepan Stepanovych Kostyshyn. Stepan Stepanovych was born on February 7, 1932 in the village of Zvynyach, Chortkiv district, Ternopil region. The development of ecology and physiology of plants both in Ukraine and abroad is closely connected with his name. The main part of Stepan Stepanovych Kostyshyn's biography is connected with Chernivtsi National University. In 1955 he graduated from the Faculty of Biology of Chernivtsi State University (CSU). From 1961 to 1964 he studied in graduate school at the Department of Plant Physiology, in 1965 he defended his dissertation and worked as a lecturer at the Faculty of Biology. From 1972 to 1987 Stepan Stepanovych Kostyshyn worked as Vice-Rector for Research. In 1985 S.S. Kostyshyn defended his doctoral dissertation, and a year later received the academic title of professor. From 1987 to 2001, Stepan Stepanovych Kostyshyn was the rector of the CSU, and then of the Chernivtsi Yuriy Fedkovych National University. For more than 30 years he headed the departments - first biochemistry, and since 2002 - ecology and biomonitoring. Under his leadership, 19 PhD and 3 doctoral dissertations were defended, more than 300 scientific articles, 3 monographs, a number of textbooks stamped by the Ministry of Education and Science were published, 6 patents and certificates for inventions were obtained. S.S. Kostyshyn was one of the founders of the All-Union “Plant Genome” School. Stepan Kostyshyn was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor, the Order of Merit of the III (1997) and II (2000) degrees for his significant personal contribution to the training of highly qualified specialists, long-term fruitful research, pedagogical and organizational activities.

After the revolution in 1989, the romanian society was met with a new fenomenon, that of building new associations and foundations, institutions that were meant to come to the local communities' aid by offering services that the authorities could not. Although marked by ethnic and religious diversity, the Dunarea de Jos region is known throughout history as a well-established and coherent community, that managed in time to create new mechanisms for solving collective needs. If during the period between the two world wars, the association phenomenon had a significant spread and grandeur, after the communist regime was instilled, this phenomenon stopped even thought the law that regulated the start-up of associations and foundations was not abolished. The following article is proposing the realisation of an xray of the construction of nongovernmental associations in the „Dunarea de Jos” region in the postdecembrist period, keeping in mind the subsequent objectives: the identity of the organisations constructed in the studied region (after the revolution in december 1989), the breakdown of the active NGO profiles of the „Dunarea de Jos” region, and the analysis of the phenomenon based on some statistical indicators.

Previous studies have suggested that physical activity in water can favorably influence body composition and blood pressure, having beneficial effects on cardiovascular health and reducing the risk of developing hypertension.Body composition and blood pressure are essential factors in assessing general health, having a significant impact on the risks of developing cardiovascular diseases.Hypothesis of the work: It is assumed that by practicing hydrokinetotherapy, the body composition of adults with oscillating blood pressure can be improved, and blood pressure oscillations can be reduced, thus contributing to improving general health.The purpose of this work is to analyze the impact of hydrokinetotherapy on body composition and blood pressure variability in adults, with the objective of highlighting the potential of this form of therapy in optimizing cardiovascular health and in effectively managing blood pressure fluctuations.Objectives of the work: Assessment of body composition before and after a hydrokinetotherapy program; Monitoring blood pressure during the program to observe changes in its oscillations.Determining the relationship between hydrokinetotherapy practice, body composition, and blood pressure stability.Further research is needed to validate the effectiveness of this hydrokinetotherapy program in different population groups and to investigate the mechanisms by which it affects physiological parameters.Introduction: Body composition is an important factor in assessing health status and monitoring changes in body structure, such as fat percentage, muscle mass, and others.In the context of the pandemic, physical activities have undergone significant changes, such as the transition to online programs and the adaptation of exercises from the aquatic environment to the terrestrial one, considering the effects of gravity on the body and the neuromyoarthrokinetic system (NMAK) [2].These changes are particularly relevant for adult women with fluctuating blood pressure, given that body composition parameters can significantly influence blood pressureThe Annals of the "tefan cel Mare" University of Suceava.

Conical screw compressors are equipment used to compress air or other gases, using a mechanism consisting of two conically shaped rotors (screws), which rotate one inside the other. This specific design offers advantages in terms of its efficiency, durability and compactness. These compressors are characterized by high efficiency, efficient compression, low air loss, durability, compact dimensions and silent operation. In conical screw compressors, the screw axes are arranged at an angle, due to the conical shape of the screws. This arrangement allows for the progressive compression of the gas as it advances along the screws. On the one hand, the arrangement of the axes and the conical shape of the screws contribute significantly to the high performance of this type of compressor, but on the other hand, this shape makes it difficult to profile these active elements. The screw profiles of conical screw compressors are mutually enveloping, and this aspect is essential for the correct operation of the compressor. In this paper, a new algorithm for profiling the compressor’s external rotor starting from a known internal rotor shape is proposed. The proposed algorithm was developed at “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati and was based on the observation that the compression chambers in conical screw compressors are sealed according to a curve that follows the axial section of the two screws, in a plane determined by their axes. Practically, the two screws admit a common contour of the axial section in the plane determined by their axes. Taking this aspect into account, the transverse profile of the outer screw can be determined by identifying the positions where contact will take place with the points belonging to the transverse profile of the inner screw. In order to verify the viability of this method, the volume occupied by the inner screw during its relative movement with respect to the outer screw was determined. This volume was compared with the volume of the outer rotor cavity, with the result demonstrating the identity of the two volumes.

Input data from Students Food Behavior, Preference and Lifestyle Questionnaire conducted with 376 students from University “Dunarea de Jos” Galati (UDJG) were analyzed from socio-demographic criteria. The sample socio-demoraphic characteristics of the student population were investigated beside the general food & eating habits by gender. In the current study, most than three quart of students (76.06%) was of correct (normal) weight. Nearly 65.15% of the students reported having regular daily breakfast. The strongest correlation of having breakfast habit is show with the regular meal behaviour [r(3, 4) = 0.242] and regular meals were associated with reduced trends for BMI [r(4, 2) =－0.055].
