The 24th edition of Innovative Manufacturing Engineering & Energy International Conference (IManEE 2020) is also the 1st Virtual edition of the Conference. Initially the conference was planned to take place in Athens, Greece, however, due to the fact that COVID-19 has significantly affected the travels between countries and in many countries total lockdowns have prohibited the organizing of events such as this, it was decided to go on-line, rather than postponing the event. It is our great honor to welcome you to the 2020 International Symposium on New Energy and Electrical Technology (ISNEET 2020) held on September 18-20, 2020 in Changsha, China. ISNEET 2020 welcomes researchers, engineers, scientists and industry professionals to an open forum where advances in the field of New Energy and Electrical Technology can be shared and examined. The conference is an ideal platform for keeping up with advances and changes to a consistently morphing field. Leading researchers and industry experts from around the globe will be presenting the latest studies through papers and oral presentations.The meeting consists of two parts: oral presentations and speeches of keynote speakers. More than 50 participants attended the meeting. We were greatly honored to have invited Dr. Thanikaivelan Palanisamy from CSIR-Central Leather Research Institute, India to serve as our Conference Chairs.In the keynote presentations part, we invited three professors as our keynote speakers. Our beloved Conference Chair, Dr. Thanikaivelan Palanisamy was also invited to present his talk Collagen Derived Advanced Materials for Energy and Environmental Applications. His research proposed new avenues for converting industrial bio-wastes into useful multifunctional advanced materials based on nanoscience approach are scalable and inexpensive thereby minimizing pollution and maximizing environmental sustainability. Dr. Ruomei Li, our second keynote speakers, from Tsinghua University, China presented her latest research: The Role of Human Nature in the Energy Revolution. Her speech had mainly analyzed the negative reactions from different sectors of the energy industry in facing the challenge of energy revolution, and Point out that those are the natural reflection of human nature. The last keynote speaker was Prof. Deng Feng, Changsha University of Science and Technology, China. Her speech topic is: Key technology of high precision real-time monitoring and control in the distribution network. This talk aimed to introduce the key technology of high precision real-time monitoring and control in the distribution network which has promoted significantly the scientific and technological progress in the field of distribution network safety monitoring, which is significant in reducing the hidden danger of personal equipment, reducing power outage, improving the utilization rate of equipment and improving the quality of people’s production and life.ISNEET 2020 is to bring together innovative academics and industrial experts in the field of New Energy and Electrical Technology to a common forum. Therefore, we compiled a lot of excellent papers featuring the latest advanced studies on the following topics: New energy resources, Electrical Systems, Energy Science and Energy Technology, Energy management and other related topics. With the theme “Empowering Science and Transforming Communities through STEM Education,” SEA-STEM 2020 aims to be a scientific meeting among researchers and educators in STEM fields. In conjunction with the Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand Growth Triangle University Network (IMT-GT UNINET) STEM meeting, SEA-STEM 2020 is also intended to initiate a STEM movement in South East Asia region. The conference was planned to be a part of a one week STEM carnivals where we expected all participants to meet in Universitas Syiah Kuala’s campus. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we should replace the physical conference with the virtual one. The three-day conference has been successfully concluded with 9 keynote speakers and 36 parallel sessions involving 234 presentations. The first keynote session was held on the first day of the conference (October 20, 2021) with three keynote speakers including Prof. Dato’ Noraini Idris (Chair of National STEM Movement Malaysia), Prof. Tom Lowrie (Director of Early Learning STEM Australia), and Assoc. Prof. Rachel Sheffield (Curtin University, Australia) delivered their keynote talks for 40 minutes. On the second day, 50-minute keynote speeches were delivered by Dr. Carol O’Donnell (Director of Smithsonian Science Education Center, USA), Prof. Kiichiro Kagawa (Fukui University, Japan), Dr. Indrawati, M.Pd (Director of SEAMEO Qitep in Science, Indonesia) and Prof. Nasser Mansour (Exeter University, UK and Egypt). On the last day, our USG Partner of the USAID PEER Project Dist. Prof. Eugenia Etkina (the ISLE Inventor-Graduate School of Education, Rutgers University, USA) and her research partner Prof. Gorazd Planinsic (University of Ljubljana, Slovenia), in one-hour talks, shared their long-time efforts in developing the Investigative Science Learning Environment (ISLE) approach for instructions and assessments in teaching physics. For keynote sessions we provided a 500-person virtual meeting room and based on the attendance records, about 250-350 participants attended the keynote sessions. On the other hand, for each parallel session, we organized six 100-person virtual meeting rooms that were assigned for parallel talks based on the topics of presentations. In each parallel session meeting room, 4-8 speakers delivered their presentation including the Q&A session in 15 minutes per presenter. Presenters of the conferences are researchers and educators in STEM fields who came from several countries including Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippine, Thailand, China, Japan, Hungary, Nigeria, Macedonia, Germany, UK, Egypt, Australia, Slovenia, and the USA. The virtual conference majorly depended on the reliability of the internet connection and the video conferencing and webinars platform. We hired a third party technical team that has successfully handled the technical aspects of the keynote and parallel sessions. We experienced some technical glitches during the opening ceremony and keynote talks on the first day, such as the voice of the keynote speakers and the national anthem cannot be heard, but the technical team learn from this experience and the keynote and parallel sessions on the next days were successfully held without glitches. We received 257 paper submissions and after a careful review process, 165 of the manuscripts are published in this proceedings. The published papers are divided into 7 tracks including Physics & Physics Education, Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Biology & Biology Education, Chemistry & Chemistry Education, Technology and Engineering, and STEM Education. We hope that the papers will provide new thoughts, ideas, and inspiration for us to improve STEM education in Indonesia as well as in South East Asia. We learned from this experience that even though the virtual conference was a success, a physical conference would provide more interactive engagements among the presenters and participants. However, we realize that the virtual conference enable us to invite that many experts from all around the world to discuss about STEM and STEM education. This might not be possible if we hold a physical conference. Feedback from participants was mostly positive and a community of scholars and educators who work in STEM research and education consisting of former participants of the conference has been established. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the NAS and USAID and Institute of Research and Community Service (LPPM) Universitas Syiah Kuala, which provided the financial support for SEA-STEM 2020. IManEE 2016 Conference is the result of a collaboration between the Department of Mechanical Engineering & Industrial Design of the Technological Education Institute of West Macedonia, Greece and the Department of Machine Manufacturing Technology of the “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iasi, Romania. Previous ICESCE conferences were held in Shenzhen, Kunming, Haikou (China), Shenzhen from 2015-2019. In light of the worldwide spread of COVID-19, the conference organizing committee has decided to postpone the 6th edition conference to July 17-19, 2020 in Dali, China for the safety and health of all the participants. The 2020 6th International Conference on Energy Science and Chemical Engineering (ICESCE 2020) is to bring together innovative academics and industrial experts in the field of energy science and chemical engineering to a common forum. The primary goal of the conference is to promote research and developmental activities in energy science and chemical engineering and another goal is to promote scientific information interchange between researchers, developers, engineers, students, and practitioners working all around the world.The meeting focused on the latest research fields of “Energy Science” and “Chemical Engineering”. It consists of two parts: speeches of keynote speakers and oral presentations. More than 100 participants attended the meeting, they were from China, Bulgarian, Canada, India, South Africa, Italy, Ireland and more. His research on PEM fuel cells improved cell performance. Assoc. Prof. Md. Hasanuzzaman, Higher Institution Centre of Excellence (HICoE), University of Malaya, Malaysia. He talked about Global Challenges in the Energy Sector: Prospects of Solar Thermal Energy. He appealed to make full use of the solar thermal energy to slow down the global warming and climate change. Their insightful speeches had triggered heated discussion in the second session of the conference. The 2020 International Conference on Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence and Mechanical Automation (IoTAIMA 2020) was held in Hangzhou, China at July 10-12, 2020. Although the impact of covid-19, most participants were still highly enthusiastic about participating in this conference. In order to comply with the control and prevention of the pandemic covid-19, IoTAIMA 2020 was adjusted to be held with combining online conference with offline conference to avoid crowd gathering and physical contact. About the offline conference, we held the opening ceremony in the meeting room of Relax Hotel through live video. Due to the impact of the epidemic and travel restrictions, more than 10 participants came to the venue, and the rest of the participants attended the conference via online collaboration tool, Zoom. IoTAIMA 2020 aimed to provided opportunities for the for experts and scholars in the field of Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence and Mechanical Automation to exchange new ideas and application experiences, to establish business or research relations and to find global partners for future collaboration.During the conference, the conference model was divided into three sessions, including keynote speeches, oral presentations and online Q&A discussion. In the keynote speeches session, keynote speakers were each allocated 30-40 minutes to hold their speeches. Preface to the 1st ICI&ME 2018The ICI&ME is the first International Conference on Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering by the Master and Doctoral Program of Industrial Engineering, University of Sumatera Utara (USU), held from 16-17th October 2018 in Medan, Indonesia, with the theme “Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Practice for Local Industries”. This conference is an extended collaboration between University of Sumatera Utara (USU), Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), and Prince of Songkla University (PSU) to intensify knowledge sharing and experiences between higher learning institutions.This ICI&ME Conference is a platform for knowledge exchange and the growth of ideas, particularly in manufacturing engineering. The conference aims to bring researchers, academics, scientists, students, engineers and practitioners from around the world together to present their latest findings, ideas, developments and applications related to manufacturing engineering and other related research areas. With rapid advancements in manufacturing engineering, ICI&ME is an appropriate medium for the associated community to keep pace with the changes. This year, 2018, the conference theme is “Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Practice for Local Industries” which reflects the role of industrial and manufacturing engineering to be developed for industries.The papers in these proceedings are examples of the work presented at the conference. They represent the tip of the iceberg, as the conference attracted over 167 full papers were accepted in these proceedings. The conference was run in four parallel sessions with 167 presenters sharing their latest finding in the areas of manufacturing process, systems, advanced materials and automation. The Keynote Speaker of this conferences are Prof. Dr. Ir. Abdul Rahman Omar from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Malaysia, Rediman Silalahi as Director of PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN IV), Prof. Dr. Ir. Sukaria Sinulingga, M.Eng from University of Sumatera Utara (USU) Indonesia, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nikorn Sirivongpaisal from Prince of Songkla University (PSU) Thailand. The 2022 8th International Forum on Manufacturing Technology and Engineering Materials (IFEMMT 2022) was successfully held on October 14th-16th, 2022 in Chongqing, China (virtual conference). IFEMMT 2022 brought together academics and experts in the field of Manufacturing Technology and Engineering Materials to a common forum, making it a great platform for people to share views and experiences in related areas.We were honored to have Prof. Xiansheng Ning from Shenyang Ligong University, China to serve as our General Conference Chair. The conference covered keynote speeches, oral presentations, and online Q&A discussion, attracting 150 individuals. Firstly, keynote speakers were each allocated 30-45 minutes to hold their speeches. Then in the oral presentations, the excellent papers selected were presented by their authors in sequence.During the conference, five sophisticated professors were invited to make keynote speeches. Among them, Prof. Vijay Kumar Thakur from Scotland’s Rural College delivered a keynote speech on Polymer Nanocomposites as Promising Materials for the Future. Polymer nanocomposites are rapidly emerging as novel materials for a number of advanced engineering applications. The combination of both the polymers and fillers provides enhanced properties depending on the type and nature of polymer matrices as well as fillers. Therefore, this presentation mainly discussed about the work on the synthesis and processing of polymer-based materials for advanced application. Additionally, Assoc. Prof. Xiao Lu from Shenyang Ligong University made a report on Structure Design of Defective Electrocatalysts and Effect of High Magnetic Field on Electrocatalysis Process. The report proposed a method to achieve high efficiency oxygen reduction reaction by regulating the defect structure of carbon materials and metal catalyst materials and put forward the preparation of catalyst materials under strong magnetic field and the influence of strong magnetic field on oxygen evolution reaction and oxygen reduction reaction process. Their excellent presentations had sparked heated discussion in the conference. Moreover, every participant praised this conference for disseminating insightful knowledge.After months of well preparation and hard work, the proceedings of IFEMMT 2022 covering a bunch of papers are smoothly published. These papers feature but are not limited to the following topics: Advanced Design Technology, Manufacturing Systems and Automation, New Materials and Advanced Materials, etc. All the papers have been checked through rigorous review and processes to meet the requirements of publication.We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to all the keynote speakers, peer reviewers, and all the participants. Particularly, we would like to acknowledge the Journal of Physics: Conference Series, for the endeavor of all its colleagues in publishing this paper volume.
