ForewordThe 23rd edition of Innovative Manufacturing Engineering & Energy International Conference (IManEE 2019) is the result of a collaboration between the Department of Manufacturing and Industrial Management of the University of Piteşti (Romania) and the Department of Manufacturing Engineering of the “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iaşi (Romania).The first conference was organized in May 1996 at Iaşi and, since 1999, the conferences have been organized alternately, in Iaşi and Chişinău, by the collaboration of the Machine Manufacturing Departments from the “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iaşi (Romania) and from the Technical University of Moldova from Chisinau (Republic of Moldova). By considering the new trends and requests valid in the field of manufacturing engineering from the entire world, starting from 2013, the name of the conference was changed in „Innovative Manufacturing Engineering” and later in „Innovative Manufacturing Engineering and Energy”. It is our great honor to welcome you to the 2020 International Symposium on New Energy and Electrical Technology (ISNEET 2020) held on September 18-20, 2020 in Changsha, China. ISNEET 2020 welcomes researchers, engineers, scientists and industry professionals to an open forum where advances in the field of New Energy and Electrical Technology can be shared and examined. The conference is an ideal platform for keeping up with advances and changes to a consistently morphing field. Leading researchers and industry experts from around the globe will be presenting the latest studies through papers and oral presentations.The meeting consists of two parts: oral presentations and speeches of keynote speakers. More than 50 participants attended the meeting. We were greatly honored to have invited Dr. Thanikaivelan Palanisamy from CSIR-Central Leather Research Institute, India to serve as our Conference Chairs.In the keynote presentations part, we invited three professors as our keynote speakers. Our beloved Conference Chair, Dr. Thanikaivelan Palanisamy was also invited to present his talk Collagen Derived Advanced Materials for Energy and Environmental Applications. His research proposed new avenues for converting industrial bio-wastes into useful multifunctional advanced materials based on nanoscience approach are scalable and inexpensive thereby minimizing pollution and maximizing environmental sustainability. Dr. Ruomei Li, our second keynote speakers, from Tsinghua University, China presented her latest research: The Role of Human Nature in the Energy Revolution. Her speech had mainly analyzed the negative reactions from different sectors of the energy industry in facing the challenge of energy revolution, and Point out that those are the natural reflection of human nature. The last keynote speaker was Prof. Deng Feng, Changsha University of Science and Technology, China. Her speech topic is: Key technology of high precision real-time monitoring and control in the distribution network. This talk aimed to introduce the key technology of high precision real-time monitoring and control in the distribution network which has promoted significantly the scientific and technological progress in the field of distribution network safety monitoring, which is significant in reducing the hidden danger of personal equipment, reducing power outage, improving the utilization rate of equipment and improving the quality of people’s production and life.ISNEET 2020 is to bring together innovative academics and industrial experts in the field of New Energy and Electrical Technology to a common forum. Therefore, we compiled a lot of excellent papers featuring the latest advanced studies on the following topics: New energy resources, Electrical Systems, Energy Science and Energy Technology, Energy management and other related topics. All the papers have been through rigorous review and process to meet the requirements of International publication standard.We are really grateful to the International/National advisory committee, keynote speakers, session chairs, organizing committee members, student volunteers and administrative assistance of the management section of University, including accounts section, digital media and publication house. With the theme “Empowering Science and Transforming Communities through STEM Education,” SEA-STEM 2020 aims to be a scientific meeting among researchers and educators in STEM fields. In conjunction with the Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand Growth Triangle University Network (IMT-GT UNINET) STEM meeting, SEA-STEM 2020 is also intended to initiate a STEM movement in South East Asia region. The conference was planned to be a part of a one week STEM carnivals where we expected all participants to meet in Universitas Syiah Kuala’s campus. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we should replace the physical conference with the virtual one. The three-day conference has been successfully concluded with 9 keynote speakers and 36 parallel sessions involving 234 presentations. The first keynote session was held on the first day of the conference (October 20, 2021) with three keynote speakers including Prof. Dato’ Noraini Idris (Chair of National STEM Movement Malaysia), Prof. Tom Lowrie (Director of Early Learning STEM Australia), and Assoc. Prof. Rachel Sheffield (Curtin University, Australia) delivered their keynote talks for 40 minutes. On the second day, 50-minute keynote speeches were delivered by Dr. Carol O’Donnell (Director of Smithsonian Science Education Center, USA), Prof. Kiichiro Kagawa (Fukui University, Japan), Dr. Indrawati, M.Pd (Director of SEAMEO Qitep in Science, Indonesia) and Prof. Nasser Mansour (Exeter University, UK and Egypt). On the last day, our USG Partner of the USAID PEER Project Dist. Prof. Eugenia Etkina (the ISLE Inventor-Graduate School of Education, Rutgers University, USA) and her research partner Prof. Gorazd Planinsic (University of Ljubljana, Slovenia), in one-hour talks, shared their long-time efforts in developing the Investigative Science Learning Environment (ISLE) approach for instructions and assessments in teaching physics. For keynote sessions we provided a 500-person virtual meeting room and based on the attendance records, about 250-350 participants attended the keynote sessions. On the other hand, for each parallel session, we organized six 100-person virtual meeting rooms that were assigned for parallel talks based on the topics of presentations. In each parallel session meeting room, 4-8 speakers delivered their presentation including the Q&A session in 15 minutes per presenter. Presenters of the conferences are researchers and educators in STEM fields who came from several countries including Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippine, Thailand, China, Japan, Hungary, Nigeria, Macedonia, Germany, UK, Egypt, Australia, Slovenia, and the USA. The virtual conference majorly depended on the reliability of the internet connection and the video conferencing and webinars platform. We hired a third party technical team that has successfully handled the technical aspects of the keynote and parallel sessions. We experienced some technical glitches during the opening ceremony and keynote talks on the first day, such as the voice of the keynote speakers and the national anthem cannot be heard, but the technical team learn from this experience and the keynote and parallel sessions on the next days were successfully held without glitches. We received 257 paper submissions and after a careful review process, 165 of the manuscripts are published in this proceedings. The published papers are divided into 7 tracks including Physics & Physics Education, Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Biology & Biology Education, Chemistry & Chemistry Education, Technology and Engineering, and STEM Education. We hope that the papers will provide new thoughts, ideas, and inspiration for us to improve STEM education in Indonesia as well as in South East Asia. We learned from this experience that even though the virtual conference was a success, a physical conference would provide more interactive engagements among the presenters and participants. However, we realize that the virtual conference enable us to invite that many experts from all around the world to discuss about STEM and STEM education. This might not be possible if we hold a physical conference. Feedback from participants was mostly positive and a community of scholars and educators who work in STEM research and education consisting of former participants of the conference has been established. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the NAS and USAID and Institute of Research and Community Service (LPPM) Universitas Syiah Kuala, which provided the financial support for SEA-STEM 2020. It is a great privilege for us to present the proceedings of ISAIME 2022 to the authors and delegates of the event. International Symposium on Advances and Innovation in Mechanical Engineering (ISAIME) is an international conference initiated by Badan Kerja Sama Teknik Mesin (BKSTM), the Indonesian National Organization on Mechanical Engineering. It is our great honor to welcome you to the 2020 13th International Conference on Computer and Electrical Engineering (ICCEE 2020) held in Beijing, China on July 31-August 2, 2020. This year, due to covid-19, the local governments all over the world are strict in epidemic prevention and control, in addition to the restrict of entry and exit, it does not encourage the holding of various activities onsite, thus, ICCEE 2020 was held as a remote conference this time. Even though this form limited the face-to-face communication in some ways, the passion for the involvement in no way reduced.This year, ICCEE received 37 submissions, and accepted 20 high quality papers related to computer and electrical engineering to be published with IOP Journal of Physics: Conference Series after presentations. All articles have been double-blind reviewed. These distinguished authors have provided different perspective of technology around the world. Much appreciation would be given to all the technical committee members and international reviewers.At the same time, we would like to acknowledge all the conference chair, program chair, keynote speakers, session chairs, co-session chairs, conference secretariat as well as all participants, who have dedicated their constant support and countless time to bring these scratches into a book. Besides, we are obliged to the speakers, each of whom gave us 40-minutes great speech with their advanced ideas.The presenters also present the latest research and results mainly based on the 3 topics of: Electrical Theory and Engineering, Smart Grid and Operational Control, Computer and Information Technology. And each one was within 13 minutes, 2 minutes for Q&A in total, after the individual presentation, session chairs and the rest presenters would raise questions or give the comments. To provide a high-quality web conference communication platform to facilitate communication and to prevent technical problem, we have also prepared test room, back-up room, and guidebook of the application which we used to hold this remote meeting.The proceeding is a credit to a large group of people, and everyone should be proud of the outcome. The present work is dealing with the quasi-static motion response analysis of a Gas Import Floating Terminal that is moored through a turret mooring system. The results of the analysis presented here is part of the work undertaken by the Division of Marine Structures, School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, National Technical University of Athens (NTUA-MS), within the GIFT project that is supported by the EU (GIFT, 2005). The results concern the response of the mooring system and the associated behavior of the floating terminal under specific operating and survival conditions. In addition to the quasi-static responses, the slowly varying motions of the vessel are calculated by applying appropriate frequency domain solution techniques. Finally, some first comparisons between the numerical predictions and pertinent experimental data of physical model tests are given and discussed.

Since its conceptualization in 2008, blockchain technology has advanced rapidly and been applied in multiple domains. In higher education, blockchain can be applied to develop ICT systems that can revolutionize student accreditation through certificate verification and micro-accreditations, which represent skills and other learning outcomes, in the form of digital/smart badges. While there are multiple studies that highlight the significance of blockchain in higher education and propose digital systems, few of those studies include the evaluation of such proposed systems by real users. As such, the research question of how useful a higher education blockchain system would be for its relevant stakeholders remains largely unanswered. In the research publication at hand, a blockchain-powered higher education platform was applied in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens, where it was used and evaluated by students and professors at the school. The evaluation of the platform was positive, and participants found that the smart badge functionality was among the most useful. Finally, the execution and evaluation of the pilot led to several lessons learned and policy recommendations towards dealing with existing barriers and further promoting blockchain in higher education.

In recent decades, simulation has emerged as a pivotal educational tool, bolstering scientific knowledge and honing decision-making skills across diverse disciplines. Surgery and flight simulators are well-known tools used to practice and train safely in surgeries and piloting. Meanwhile, the development of simulation games advances in other scientific fields, such as economics, management, engineering, and mathematics. These simulations offer learners a risk-free virtual platform to apply and refine their knowledge, leveraging animations, graphics, and interactive environments to enrich the learning experience. In engineering, while simulation is widely utilized as a powerful training tool for heavy equipment and process handling, the creation of strategy games for educational purposes is less frequent. This gap primarily stems from the challenge of converting complex engineering concepts and theories into a user-friendly yet comprehensive setup that preserves the more difficult aspects. This study adopts a design-based research approach to develop and evaluate an educational simulation game aimed at enhancing probabilistic and spatial reasoning in mineral exploration. The application generates random scenarios, within which users deploy strategies based on their knowledge, while accommodating the randomness of physical phenomena. The simulation game is adopted as an educational tool in the course “Introduction to Mineral Exploration” in the School of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens. Additionally, we present the outcomes of game analytics and a qualitative evaluation derived from three workshops at higher education institutions in Greece.

Heat-driven coolers provide a reliable and environmentally benign alternative to traditional electrically powered chillers. Their main advantage is that they can be driven using low enthalpy heat sources. A solar system is installed at the school of Mechanical Engineering of National Technical University of Athens in order to examine the potential of thermal storage and solar cooling under Athens climatic conditions. The cooling effect is produced using a dual bed, single stage, zeolite/water adsorption chiller with cooling capacity of 10 kW at its nominal conditions of operation. Both vacuum tube collectors and hybrid photovoltaic thermal collectors are installed in order to supply the system with heat. The system is evaluated in terms of solar collectors’ useful energy production, heat stored in the intermediate buffer and cooling system’s performance. It is observed that the cooling system operates satisfactorily under Athens climatic conditions achieving a maximum cooling capacity of 3.7 kW and an average COP around 0.5.

Previous ICESCE conferences were held in Shenzhen, Kunming, Haikou (China), Shenzhen from 2015-2019. In light of the worldwide spread of COVID-19, the conference organizing committee has decided to postpone the 6th edition conference to July 17-19, 2020 in Dali, China for the safety and health of all the participants. The 2020 6th International Conference on Energy Science and Chemical Engineering (ICESCE 2020) is to bring together innovative academics and industrial experts in the field of energy science and chemical engineering to a common forum. The primary goal of the conference is to promote research and developmental activities in energy science and chemical engineering and another goal is to promote scientific information interchange between researchers, developers, engineers, students, and practitioners working all around the world.The meeting focused on the latest research fields of “Energy Science” and “Chemical Engineering”. It consists of two parts: speeches of keynote speakers and oral presentations. More than 100 participants attended the meeting, they were from China, Bulgarian, Canada, India, South Africa, Italy, Ireland and more. In the first part, we invited two professors as our keynote speakers. Prof. Lei Xing, Institute of Green Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Jiangsu University, China as well as our conference chair. He performed a speech on Functionally graded electrodes and segmented design toward the commercialization of PEM (proton exchange membrane) fuel cells. His research on PEM fuel cells improved cell performance. Assoc. Prof. Md. Hasanuzzaman, Higher Institution Centre of Excellence (HICoE), University of Malaya, Malaysia. He talked about Global Challenges in the Energy Sector: Prospects of Solar Thermal Energy. He appealed to make full use of the solar thermal energy to slow down the global warming and climate change. Their insightful speeches had triggered heated discussion in the second session of the conference. In order to meet the health and safety needs of our attendees and staff, 2022 2nd International Conference on Electronics, Circuits and Information Engineering (ECIE 2022) which was scheduled to be held in Xiamen, China was held virtually online during 7th to 9th, January, 2022. Being different from the traditional gatherings we all know, this virtual conference allows us to connect in new ways while keeping expenditure saving and maintaining social distancing. Presentations of presenter from different countries are accessible to hundreds of researchers effectively. There were 110 individuals who attended this online conference, represented many countries including Malaysia, Pakistan, India and China.ECIE 2022 is an international forum for scientists, engineers, and practitioners to present their latest research and development results in all areas of Electronics, Circuits, and Information Engineering. Conference topics mainly include but are not limited to Software engineering, Power and energy circuits, Optoelectronics, Single-chip microcomputer technology, etc. ECIE 2022 welcomes all high-quality research papers and presentations from related research fields.During the conference, the conference model was divided into three sessions, including oral presentations, keynote speeches, and online Q&A discussion. In the first part, some scholars, whose submissions were selected as the excellent papers, were given about 5-10 minutes to perform their oral presentations one by one. Then in the second part, keynote speakers were each allocated 30-45 minutes to hold their speeches. In the second part, we invited five professors as our keynote speakers. Prof. Jie Sun, Fuzhou University, China, performed a speech on Research on micro-LED based displays in China’s Mindu Innovation Laboratory. And then we had Prof. Kai Yang, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), China. He talked about New type of direct-drive permanent magnet motor and its robust control technology. Prof. Weigang Hou, Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, China. He delivered a wonderful speech: Photonic CNN Accelerator. Prof. Ghani Albaali, Princess Sumaya University for Tech in Amman, Jordan, performed a speech: Using Computational Fluid Dynamics in the Processing Engineering. Lastly, we were glad to invite Prof. Debashis De, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, West Bengal, India as our finale keynote speakers. He shared a speech on Internet of Drone Things. Their insightful speeches had triggered heated discussion in the third session of the conference. It was a great pleasure to welcome all the participants from different countries to the 2021 6th International Symposium on Advances in Electrical, Electronics and Computer Engineering (ISAEECE 2021) in Nanjing, China during March 12-14, 2021. ISAEECE 2021 is to bring together innovative academics and industrial experts in the field of electrical, electronics and computer engineering to a common forum. The primary goal of the conference is to promote research and developmental activities in electrical, electronics and computer engineering and another goal is to promote scientific information interchange between researchers, developers, engineers, students, and practitioners working all around the world. The conference will be held every year to make it an ideal platform for people to share views and experiences in electrical, electronics and computer engineering and related areas.The conference model was divided into two sessions, including oral presentations and keynote speeches. In the first part, some scholars, whose submissions were selected as the excellent papers, were given 15 minutes to perform their oral presentations one by one. Then in the second part, keynote speakers were each allocated 30-45 minutes to hold their speeches. In this conference, we were greatly honor to have invited four outstanding researchers to serve as our Conference Chairman.During the conference, we invited three industry elites to present their insightful speeches. The first keynote speaker, Dr. Sunil Kumar Jha, from Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, China. He presented a speech: Data Fusion Approaches in Human Body Odor Data Mining. The objective of the present research talk is to introduce audience about the data fusion and human body odor and to demonstrate research results related to search for an optimal subset of VOCs in body odor, which can produce differentiation in an individual by using the combination of analytical methods and chemometric analysis. The second keynote speaker, Prof. Chunbo Xiu, from Tiangong University, China. He shared a speech on his specialty related to Memristive Cellular Neural Network & Its Dynamic Characteristic Analysis. He demonstrated that chaotic memristive CNN system can be used in the secure communication by the chaos synchronization based on sliding mode control. Assoc. Prof. Pavel Loskot, from Zhejiang University-University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Institute (ZJUI), our third keynote speakers. He presented a speech: Monte Carlo Simulations Revisited. Their insightful speeches made every participant praised this conference for disseminating useful knowledge.We were glad to share with you that we received lots of submissions from the conference and we selected a bunch of high-quality papers and compiled them into the proceedings after rigorously reviewed them. These papers feature following topics but are not limited to: Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and other related topics. All the papers have been through rigorous review and process to meet the requirements of International publication standard.We were grateful to the International/National advisory committee, keynote speakers, session chairs, organising committee members, student volunteers and administrative assistance of the management section of University, including accounts section, digital media and publication house. Also, we were thankful to all the authors for contributing large number of papers in the conference, because of which the conference became a story of success.
