Preface

It was a great pleasure to welcome all the participants from different countries to the 2021 6th International Symposium on Advances in Electrical, Electronics and Computer Engineering (ISAEECE 2021) in Nanjing, China during March 12-14, 2021. ISAEECE 2021 is to bring together innovative academics and industrial experts in the field of electrical, electronics and computer engineering to a common forum. The primary goal of the conference is to promote research and developmental activities in electrical, electronics and computer engineering and another goal is to promote scientific information interchange between researchers, developers, engineers, students, and practitioners working all around the world. The conference will be held every year to make it an ideal platform for people to share views and experiences in electrical, electronics and computer engineering and related areas.The conference model was divided into two sessions, including oral presentations and keynote speeches. In the first part, some scholars, whose submissions were selected as the excellent papers, were given 15 minutes to perform their oral presentations one by one. Then in the second part, keynote speakers were each allocated 30-45 minutes to hold their speeches. In this conference, we were greatly honor to have invited four outstanding researchers to serve as our Conference Chairman.During the conference, we invited three industry elites to present their insightful speeches. The first keynote speaker, Dr. Sunil Kumar Jha, from Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, China. He presented a speech: Data Fusion Approaches in Human Body Odor Data Mining. The objective of the present research talk is to introduce audience about the data fusion and human body odor and to demonstrate research results related to search for an optimal subset of VOCs in body odor, which can produce differentiation in an individual by using the combination of analytical methods and chemometric analysis. The second keynote speaker, Prof. Chunbo Xiu, from Tiangong University, China. He shared a speech on his specialty related to Memristive Cellular Neural Network & Its Dynamic Characteristic Analysis. He demonstrated that chaotic memristive CNN system can be used in the secure communication by the chaos synchronization based on sliding mode control. Assoc. Prof. Pavel Loskot, from Zhejiang University-University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Institute (ZJUI), our third keynote speakers. He presented a speech: Monte Carlo Simulations Revisited. Their insightful speeches made every participant praised this conference for disseminating useful knowledge.We were glad to share with you that we received lots of submissions from the conference and we selected a bunch of high-quality papers and compiled them into the proceedings after rigorously reviewed them. These papers feature following topics but are not limited to: Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and other related topics. All the papers have been through rigorous review and process to meet the requirements of International publication standard.We were grateful to the International/National advisory committee, keynote speakers, session chairs, organising committee members, student volunteers and administrative assistance of the management section of University, including accounts section, digital media and publication house. Malik from University of Calgary, Canada to serve as our Conference Chairmen. During the conference, we were pleased to invite six distinguished experts to present their insightful speeches. The first keynote speaker, Prof. Z.Y. Dong, The University of New South Wales, Australia, held a speech on Promoting Renewable Energy with Virtual Power Plants. In this talk, the energy market rules which provides opportunities for VPP development were presented, together with methodologies on smart energy management for VPP applications. Prof. Juan Yu from Chongqing University, China, talked about Data-driven Methods for Operational Reliability Assessment of Power Systems Integrated with High-penetration Renewables. Her speech focusing on the computational efficiency of the operational reliability assessment in power systems that contain high penetration renewables, this presentation lays a theoretical foundation to support practical applications of an online high-accuracy operational reliability assessment. Prof. Alberto Borghetti, University of Bologna, Italy, shared a speech on his specialty related to Scheduling problems in local energy communities. This presentation is aimed to describe some models that could be useful for the operation of energy communities and distribution networks where trading between neighbors becomes significant. A/Prof. Farhad Shahnia, Murdoch University, Australia, made an insightful speech on Recent and Future Research on Microgrid Clusters. This talk briefly introduced the progress of research in this field around the world and Australia, and also discussed some of the technical challenges associated with interconnection of neighbouring microgrids as a key step to improve their survivability in the course of unexpected imbalances between the demand and the available generation from intermittent renewable resources. Prof. Xinyu Chen, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China, delivered a speech: Towards Higher Penetration of Renewable Challenge and Opportunities. This talk focused on deepen the understanding of how the environmental regulations and low carbon polices influence the operation, planning and markets for power systems in different counties. As the last keynote speaker, Prof. Shouxiang Wang from Tianjin University, China. His research area: microgrid, smart distribution system, uncertainty analysis of power system.We are glad to share with you that we received lots of submissions from the conference and we selected a bunch of high-quality papers and compiled them into the proceedings after rigorously reviewed them. These papers feature following topics but are not limited to: Smart Grid Information Engineering, Electric Drive and Applications, Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency and other related topics. It is our great honor to welcome you to the 2020 International Symposium on New Energy and Electrical Technology (ISNEET 2020) held on September 18-20, 2020 in Changsha, China. ISNEET 2020 welcomes researchers, engineers, scientists and industry professionals to an open forum where advances in the field of New Energy and Electrical Technology can be shared and examined. The conference is an ideal platform for keeping up with advances and changes to a consistently morphing field. Dr. Ruomei Li, our second keynote speakers, from Tsinghua University, China presented her latest research: The Role of Human Nature in the Energy Revolution. Her speech had mainly analyzed the negative reactions from different sectors of the energy industry in facing the challenge of energy revolution, and Point out that those are the natural reflection of human nature. The last keynote speaker was Prof. Deng Feng, Changsha University of Science and Technology, China. Her speech topic is: Key technology of high precision real-time monitoring and control in the distribution network. This talk aimed to introduce the key technology of high precision real-time monitoring and control in the distribution network which has promoted significantly the scientific and technological progress in the field of distribution network safety monitoring, which is significant in reducing the hidden danger of personal equipment, reducing power outage, improving the utilization rate of equipment and improving the quality of people’s production and life.ISNEET 2020 is to bring together innovative academics and industrial experts in the field of New Energy and Electrical Technology to a common forum. The education of students in the area of telecommunications systems engineering is of rising significance as global economies become ever more reliant upon telecommunications technologies and services. Notwithstanding its broad-based origins from within electrical engineering, the study of telecommunications systems is today recognized as an academic discipline in its own right. The University of Oklahoma (OU) - Tulsa is one of a select few that offers a Master of Science degree in Telecommunications Systems under the aegis of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The degree has been designed with a common set of core courses: Telecommunications Industry Overview, Telecommunications Technology, Network Design and Management, Telecommunications Laboratory, and Professional Project. In addition, students may choose technical electives from among electrical and computer engineering, computer science, mathematics, and telecommunications systems courses. Students may also choose up to six credit hours of approved elective courses in relevant disciplines such as finance, telecommunications management, economics, and industrial engineering. A key resource supporting the program is the Telecommunications Interoperability Laboratory 1 , a facility designed to provide students with unmatched access to carrier-grade telecommunications technologies. Students entering the program are expected to have undergraduate preparation in electrical and computer engineering. This paper describes the curriculum and program goals, as well as the motivation behind their development.

He is involved in telecommunication product development activity based on the DECT Wireless in Local Loop system developed by HTM. He has also been a visiting faculty at Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, Prasanthi Nilayam, Andhra Pradesh, and at Stanford University, California.B SrikrishnaB Srikrishna received the BTech degree in electronics and communication engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, India in 1996 and the MS and PhD degrees in electrical and computer engineering from Rice University, Houston, TX, USA in 1998 and 2001 respectively. He worked as a Senior Engineer at Qualcomm, Inc., Campbell, CA, USA from June 2001 to March 2003 on wideband code-division multiple access (WCDMA) modem design. Since May 2003, he is at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, as Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering. His current research interests include high-speed wireless packet data systems, adaptive modulation and coding for wireless systems, cellular network optimization, multiple access communications and information theory.

Coupling Of Synthesis And Layout: Challenges And Solutions

My research in optimization at the Department of Systems and Computer Engineering at Carleton University has brought me into contact with researchers in the Department of Electronics, our sister department in the general field of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), which has a major research thrust in computer-aided design (CAD) of very large scale integrated (VLSI) circuits. I have come to realize that the design of VLSI systems consists in large part of solving incredibly massive mixed-integer nonlinear optimization problems, together with enormous circuit simulations. This is impossible without the use of CAD techniques. Over time, ECE-CAD researchers have both borrowed useful standard techniques from operations research (OR) and have invented their own, often to deal with the sheer scale and complexity of the design problems they face. Interaction between the OR and ECE-CAD communities would seem to be a natural development. Coincidentally, the INFORMS Journal on Computing had an area entitled “High Performance Computation” that covered (i) the solution of OR problems using new computing technologies, (ii) the application of OR techniques in the design and use of highperformance computing and communication systems, and (iii) solution methods for ultra-large-scale OR applications. The viability of this area was debated during 2003 as some of its aspects migrated to other areas (e.g., the new “Telecommunications and Electronic Commerce” area), and the number of submissions declined. The area was eventually closed, although I argued that the overlap between OR and ECE-CAD, essentially covering items (ii) and (iii), was a very active research area. This Special Cluster of papers was conceived as a way to test that argument. I was recruited at the same time to prepare a tutorial on ECE-CAD for the 2004 INFORMS Annual Meeting (see John W. Chinneck, Michel Nakhla, and Q. J. Zhang 2004. Computer-aided design for electrical and computer engineering. H. J. Greenberg, ed. Tutorials on Emerging Methodologies and Applications in Operations Research. Springer, New York, 6-1 to 6-44). The preparation of the article reinforced my observation about the research overlap between OR and ECE-CAD. A search of the electrical engineering literature for 2000 through early 2004 turned up 46,725 papers mentioning “simulate” or “simulation” as keywords in the abstract, 14,216 papers mentioning “optimization” or “optimize,” and relatively smaller numbers for specific techniques such as “neural network” (6,251), “genetic algorithm” (2,603), “linear programming” (576), “simulated annealing” (448), and “branch and bound” (199). One surprise was the relatively small number of papers using the generic keywords “mathematical programming” (68) or “operations research” (37). The general conclusion of the tutorial article is that the OR and the ECE-CAD communities have much to offer each other. This is certainly the case for the papers gathered in this Special Cluster. We see known OR techniques adapted for use in ECECAD. In “Integer Linear Programming Models for Global Routing,” Behjat et al. apply integer linear programming in a heuristic to solve enormous NPhard connection routing problems for VLSI circuits. In “Task Scheduling in a Finite-Resource, Reconfigurable Hardware/Software Codesign Environment,” Loo and Wells use simulated annealing, genetic algorithms, and random search techniques to solve scheduling problems in hardware-software co-design. We also see new techniques specifically developed by the ECE-CAD community to deal with problems of extreme scale. In “A Projection-Based Reduction Approach to Computing Sensitivity of Steady-State Response of Nonlinear Circuits,” Pai et al. develop methods for sensitivity analysis in extremely large nonlinear programs, especially those in which the objective function is very costly to evaluate. The Computer Engineering of ECE consistently ranks among the top in North America, even in the world, so its education mode analysis is very meaningful for us. The academic research areas, the undergraduate teaching program information and the training mode of the students’ engineering practical experiences of the Computer Engineering in ECE department of U of T are analyzed mainly in this paper.

It is a great pleasure to welcome you to this 1st International Conference on Innovative Research in Renewable Energy Technologies (IRRET-2021), held on 25th-27th February, 2021 in IMPS College of Engineering and Technology, Malda, West Bengal, India. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation, the forum is moving to an online conference format, managed by IMPS College of Engineering and Technology. We decided to continue the conference instead of postponed with the online platform through the Google Meet. The major areas of this conference focus on the latest development in Renewable Energy and application. We have received 32 articles for publication in the IOP Conference Series and after peer-reviewed only 18 papers had been accepted for publication. Software/Hardware Implementation of an Adaptive Noise Cancellation SystemThis paper provides details of our electrical engineering program efforts to introducesoftware/hardware design concepts and tools in senior-level and senior-design courses. Thepaper provides details of laboratory exercises and a senior project to implement adaptive filtersusing variations of the least mean square (LMS) and the recursive least squares (RLS) algorithmsand the use of adaptive filters designed using these algorithms in the design of adaptive noisecancellation system. The paper also details the implementation of the adaptive noise cancellationsystem on three different families FPGA boards. Advantages and disadvantages of each of theseimplementations will also be presented. The paper will also detail the challenges involved inteaching continually-evolving software/hardware design tools and the efforts made to reducetheir learning times. The paper will also report on the assessment student learning outcomesassociated with this project including: a) Increasing students’ understanding ofhardware/software system design tools, implementation methodologies, and professionalpractices; and b) improving student awareness of contemporary issues in system engineeringdesign and their relation to their professional career opportunities.

Based on the techno-economic pedagogical (TEP) method proposed in [1] that is suitable for designing Broadband over Power Lines (BPL) networks in transmission and distribution power grids, this paper examines the broadband potential of overhead low-voltage/broadband over power lines (LV/BPL) and medium-voltage/broadband over power lines (MV/BPL) networks. In this paper, on the basis of the set of linear simplifications and techno-economic metrics already presented in [1], TEP method demonstrates to undergraduate electrical and computer engineering (ECE) students the behavior of overhead LV/BPL and MV/BPL networks in terms of their modal transmission characteristics when different overhead LV/BPL and MV/BPL topologies occur. The contribution of this paper is four-fold. First, the factors influencing modal transmission characteristics of overhead LV/BPL and MV/BPL networks are investigated with regard to their spectral behavior and end-to-end channel attenuation. Second, the impact of the multiplicity of branches at the same junction is first examined. In the light of cascaded two-way power dividers, TEP method is extended so as to cope with more complex BPL topologies offering a new simplified and accurate circuital approximation. Third, apart from the broadband transmission characteristics of the entire overhead distribution power grid, a consequence of the application of TEP method is that it helps towards the intraoperability/interoperability of overhead LV/BPL and MV/BPL systems under a common PHY framework in the concept of a unified distribution smart grid (SG) power network. Fourth, TEP method can be demonstrated to undergraduate ECE students as case study in order to stimulate their interest for Microwave Engineering and Circuit/System Engineering courses. The 24th edition of Innovative Manufacturing Engineering & Energy International Conference (IManEE 2020) is also the 1st Virtual edition of the Conference. Initially the conference was planned to take place in Athens, Greece, however, due to the fact that COVID-19 has significantly affected the travels between countries and in many countries total lockdowns have prohibited the organizing of events such as this, it was decided to go on-line, rather than postponing the event.
