Teaching Reform of the Mechanical Drawing Course Incorporating Computer Graphics Technology

The mechanical drawing course is a compulsory professional basic course for students majoring in machine in vocational colleges, and the main teaching goal is to cultivate learners’ drawing interpretation and drawing ability through drawing theory and practice teaching. The mechanical drawing course is not only an important basis for learning of various professional courses, but also an important engineering language for students to engage in various works in the future, thus it is directly related with learners’ operation ability and application ability after they enter the work post. This paper analyzes the status of mechanical drawing course teaching in vocational colleges, and proposes effective measures for reform of mechanical drawing course teaching in vocational colleges.

In order to improve the traditional teaching model of mechanical drawing, based on the theory of CDIO, we reformed the teaching model by using case teaching pattern and teaching based on the project. We actively carried out the teaching of the CDIO model, created a favorable environment for the cultivation of innovative talents, encouraged students' innovative spirit, and innovative ability. It would meet the needs of society for engineering talents knowledge structure and ability requirements, explore the new mechanical drawing course teaching.It was very important to cultivate the students' consciousness of engineering, awareness of quality, awareness of team and sense of responsibility. Therefore, better teaching results were obtained in our practice.

In the previous study, learning process by using relevant software with the course had been developed in the statistic course and mechanical drawing course. This study aimed at investigating the effectiveness of using ANSYS software as a tool to help students fulfil the objectives and competencies of Finite Element Method course. The questionnaire consisting of three simple questions to elicit information about lecturer and course evaluation, level of satisfaction and suggestions for course development. The 60 respondents were taken randomly from two Finite Element course classrooms. The evaluation result showed that 60% students could understand the Finite Element Method lesson better with the assistance of ANSYS, 26% said that there was no significant difference with the previous learning methods, 14 % stated that the method used in the previous learning process was better. Regarding sustaining the use of ANSYS application in the learning process, 89% students agreed to continue since they argued that it could improve their problem-solving skills as essential skills to succeed in the industrial job market.

Engineering drawing is valuable in capturing geometric features, conveying engineering ideas, and creating a blueprint of the intended product. Engineering students usually perform orthographic projections, imagining a 3D situation and sketching its 2D representation. That requires imagination and mental visualization, determined by the learner’s spatial ability. This study proposes the infusion of an AR stereogram mobile application into an engineering drawing course to establish how it influences learning outcomes among students with different spatial abilities. The quantitative experimental study involved two mechanical engineering classes in northern Taiwan, N = 69 first-year vocational high schoolers. Statistical analysis revealed that the experimental group with high spatial ability recorded better results and excellent drawing skills. Bloom’s taxonomy categorization reported that spatial ability influenced “understanding” and “applying” levels, with the strongest effect on “understanding.” Although no significant interaction existed, learning outcomes were highly affected by spatial ability in “understanding” and “applying” levels and AR in the overall performance. The findings and discussions show AR holds great potential to enhance students’ spatial ability for real-time visualization and enables better concept comprehension by improving their understanding of engineering topics. Future studies should consider these implications in creating effective and immersive learning environments for different courses in engineering education.

Taking underwater robots project as an example, this paper discusses the innovation of the teaching mode of engineering drawing courses under the guidance of a project. The traditional engineering drawing course often lacks the link of practice and project application, which leads to the lack of students’ understanding and application ability of the course content. Therefore, this study proposes a teaching mode based on project guidance. By using underwater robots as teaching cases, theoretical knowledge and practical application are combined to promote the cultivation of students’ comprehensive abilities. This paper first reviews the research progress in related fields, then introduces the design and implementation methods of the teaching mode in detail, and analyzes the actual effect of the model through the underwater robot case. The results show that the teaching mode of engineering drawing courses under the guidance of the project has a positive impact on students ' learning interest, practical ability and teamwork ability. The results of this study will provide practical and feasible solutions for the innovation of the teaching mode of engineering drawing courses, and also provide a reference for the reform of undergraduate teaching mode in the construction of “New Engineering Education”.

For better Engineering drawings quality to students, commonly problems and countermeasures in study are discussed in this paper. The rare realization of Engineering Drawing’s importance, negative learning attitude, blind admiration to computer graphics, and insufficient practices are discussed in detail. A grade test system is proposed to emphasize its importance, consider the attitude of study is the key point on engineering drawing course study, figure the base aim is learning the basic projection theory, way of thinking, drawing method and obey the regulations strictly. Strengthen practice and promote communication between teachers and students, properly arrange computer graphics study is effective to gain better teaching quality. Through the follow-up survey of completion and normalization of their after-class exercise and drawing practice, the effect of enthusiasm, practice and interference is demonstrated.

In order to better meet user needs, user-oriented interactive design introduces computer graphics technology to generate, process, and transmit graphical information more effectively, thereby enhancing the practicality, simplicity, convenience, and enjoyment of interactive media. This paper aims to discuss the application of computer graphics in interactive media design. In order to analyze and compare the use of different computer graphics (CG) technologies in different scenarios, this paper classifies the interactive media into three categories according to the different focuses of the purposes, namely distributed interaction media, commercial interaction media and informational interaction media, and discusses the application of computer graphics in interactive media design with specific examples. This paper analyzes and compares the use of different CG technologies in interactive media according to their different purposes, namely distributed interaction media, commercial interaction media and informational interaction media. The paper concludes with a summary of the current applications of computer graphics in interactive media design, and an outlook on the future use of CG technology in interactive media design.

The course "Reading and Drawing of Engineering Drawings Using the Third-Angle Projection Method in English" is designed to enhance students' ability to read and draw engineering drawings using the third-angle projection method in English. Its teaching effectiveness directly affects students' employability. Based on the theory of project-based teaching, this article conducts a detailed study on each teaching link of the "English Third-Angle Projection Engineering Drawing Reading and Drawing" course in higher vocational colleges, forms a plan for the project-based teaching reform of the course, and discusses several teaching experiences of this course in light of the characteristics of English third-angle projection engineering drawing and in combination with teaching practice.

The fast advancement of computer science and information technology has resulted in a significant revolution in the commercial painting sector. The professional painting industry has experienced a dramatic breakthrough with the rapid expansion of computer science and technology. With the rapid development and comprehensive popularization of computer technology, more and more people use computer image processing technology in oil painting created as a new way of creation. Some artists use a variety of ways to study the way of oil painting creation and use image processing technology to stimulate the creator’s imagination and improve the efficiency of drawing sketches in optimizing creative ideas, drawing, and processing original works. However, the value of art comes from creation. Oil painting creation based on computer image processing is a new type of artistic production that still requires the integration of different artists’ ideas and creative concepts. The image processing technology is a tool and a way for artists to make art while also realizing the convergence of science, technology, and art. This paper uses computer image processing technology to study oil painting creation. First, it briefly discusses computer image processing technology, focusing on picture preprocessing and image graying, and then uses this technique in formation of oil painting. Second, it establishes the oil painting mathematical, direction field, and color conversion models completing the oil painting image creation by using this model. Finally, the advantages of this technology are analyzed from the two aspects of oil painting creation, painting technique, and brush direction. The results show that 75% of artists are very satisfied with the digital painting technique, and 65% of artists are very satisfied with the painting brush direction, which shows that the application effect of computer image processing technology in oil painting creation is remarkable.

In recent years, long distance learning has become more and more popular. Web based technologies, that allow the sharing of information in real time, as well as the development of Learning Management Systems, provide the required technological support to implement long distance courses. However, long distance learning is characterized by a completely different relationship between teacher and student, in respect to the traditional teaching approach. It is then important to understand if this difference can affect the students learning outcomes. In this paper the comparison is presented between the summative assessment of two separated groups of students, attending an engineering drawing course, that is part of the curriculum for the bachelor degree in mechanical engineering. One group attended the course in a traditional form, while the second group attended the course in remote. The aim of the study is to verify if significant differences exist between the two groups of students, in terms of learning outcome. The identification of such differences is the premise to develop appropriated teaching strategies, aimed to overcome possible deficiencies related to the teaching approach.

Objective: The computer image processing and neural network technology are applied to diagnose the thermal energy of boiler plants, i. e., the flame combustion diagnosis, to verify their effectiveness and superiority. Methods: First, the YD-NQ type endoscopic high temperature video acquisition system is used to collect the images of flame combustion. Second, the images are pre-processed by the gray-scale method and the median filtering method. Then the flame combustion parameter features are extracted. The neural network algorithm is improved, and the boiler combustion model based on the improved neural network algorithm is established. Therefore, the combustion decision base is obtained. Finally, the improved neural network model is compared with the traditional neural network model and the 5-4 model to verify its validity. Results: The experiments have found that the improved neural network model is superior to the traditional neural network model. Meanwhile, its accuracy rate and confidence are relatively higher than those of the traditional model. In addition, a single sample also consumes shorter running time, which is 0.0075 seconds. Comparing with the 5-4 model, the improved neural network model has certain advantages, i. e., its accuracy rate and confidence are relatively higher, which are, respectively 91.28% and 96.69%, however, a single sample consumes longer running time than the 5-4 model. Conclusion: The experimental research has found that the application of computer image processing and neural network technology to the thermal energy diagnosis of boiler plants can effectively determine the stability of flame combustion, timely understand the state of flame combustion, and thus diagnose the thermal energy. Therefore, they have values for applications.

This research began with the spread of the Covid-19 virus, which caused the education system that started all face-to-face learning processes to turn into a blended learning model. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the blended learning model in the building engineering drawing course for students of the Padang State University Building Engineering Education study program. This type of research is descriptive research with a quantitative approach. This research was conducted in the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Padang State University. The sample used in this study were students of the building engineering education study program class of 2020 who had carried out a building engineering drawing course with a blended learning model as many as 32 students. The data collection technique used is by distributing research questionnaires in the form of links made on Google Forms which are then shared via Whatsapp. The data analysis technique in this research is data verification and descriptive analysis using Microsoft Office Excel and SPSS version 17.0. Based on the results of the study, the Effectiveness of the Blended Learning Model in the Building specification Drawing Course is quite effective with the Degree of Achievement (DP) of the two indicators of 71.35%. This means that the level of effectiveness in the learning process in the building construction drawing course is considered quite effective by using the blended learning model.

When an Engineering Drawing course assembles, it is not unusual for a whole term to pass before one can pick out those students who require special help in the subject. One assumes, often erroneously, that those having previous drawing experience will out‐perform those starting from scratch. This may be true in the early weeks, but it is often the reverse at the end of the session. Most students take engineering drawing in their stride but some, unfortunately, find it very difficult, and devote far too much time to it. This can reflect on their progress in other subjects. Indeed it can happen that a student whose sole poor subject is drawing fails at the end of his first year at college. Frequently a student is mathematically bright but his lack of drawing sense, his inability to conceive a solid object when projected on to a plane surface many times goes unnoticed until it is too late.

In a formal or an informal manner, computer graphics has been a field of research and education since the early 1970s in Turkey. The earlier examples of academic research work came from Istanbul Technical University and Middle East Technical University in Ankara. Istanbul Technical University research efforts were basically on computer-aided design, whereas at the Middle East Technical University, more theoretical computer graphics work has been carried on.Two examples can be given of early theoretical graphics work: A hidden line elimination algorithm by Ibrahim Canbulat, and an automated drafting algorithm by the author [2, 3]. To the best of my knowledge, the earliest official computer graphics course was offered at the Middle East Technical University in 1979. With the establishment of Bilkent University in Ankara, the first private university in Turkey, computer graphics became an official track of study, not only in computer engineering, but in fine arts as well.In this paper, we examine the current state of computer graphics education in Turkey under two main headings. First, the educational activities within the departments of computer science will be examined. Then, the educational activities within the schools of art and design will be looked at. In order to find out the educational activities at various universities, we have written to 52 departments at 40 universities. The information given in this report is based on the responses from these departments. Many departments at various schools offer technical drawing courses by the use of drafting software. These have not been classified as computer graphics courses.

In recent years, with the rapid development of science and technology, computer image processing technology, as a high-tech involving many disciplines developed at the end of the 20th century, has achieved considerable development and has been applied in various fields. At the same time, the reform process of modern education is also advancing, and computer image processing technology has derived a new teaching method-simulated art painting The purpose of this article is to conduct experimental research on the use of computer image processing technology to simulate the teaching mode of fine art painting. This article starts from the concept and application of computer image processing technology, expounds the application of computer image processing technology in art painting teaching, analyzes the image and advantages of computer image processing technology applied to art teaching, and designs related teaching cases to provide teaching practice guide, and finally verify the feasibility and efficiency of the model through experimental investigation. The survey data shows that 100% of the students like to use computer image processing technology to simulate the new teaching method of art and painting courses, and 95.2% of the students agree that the teaching effect of this mode is the same as that of traditional teaching, indicating that computer image processing technology simulation. The mode of art painting teaching is worthy of promotion in actual teaching.
