Tel ‘Ashir

During April-June 2010, a salvage excavation was conducted along the east lane of Koifmann Street in Yafo (Permit No. A-5887; map ref. 17735-46/66189-268), after ancient remains were discovered during preliminary probes in the wake of the light rapid transport project. The excavation, undertaken on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and underwritten by the Public Transport Lines Company, was directed by E. Jakoel and J. Marcus, with the assistance of S. During October 2010, two salvage excavations were conducted on Ha-Ari Ha-Qadosh Street in Petah Tiqwa, within the precincts of the Mahane Yehuda antiquities site (Permit Nos. A-6019, A-6019/1; map ref. 19031-40/66521-8), in the wake of discovering ancient remains during preliminary inspections prior to construction. The excavation, undertaken on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and underwritten by Mr. N. Levi and the N. Avital Construction and Investment Company, Ltd., was directed by A. In February 2013, a salvage excavation was conducted at Ha-Qirya in Tel Aviv (Permit No. A-6718; map ref. 180182/664357; Fig. 1) prior to the construction of the Azrieli 2 office tower. The excavation, undertaken on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and financed by the Azrieli Group, was directed by L. Rauchberger (also field photography), with the assistance of Y. During November-December 2011, a salvage excavation was conducted northeast of Qibbuz Palmahim (Permit No. A-6345; map ref. 17287-9/64927-33), after ancient remains were discovered in preliminary antiquities inspections. The excavation, undertaken on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and underwritten by the Via Maris Company, was directed by A. Gorzalczany, with the assistance of R. Winter-Livneh, A. Dagot and V. Shustin (area supervision), Y. Amrani (administration), M. Kahan and M. Kipnis (surveying and drafting), A. Ganor and J. Bukengolts (field restoration), A. Peretz (field photography), O. In October 2020, a salvage excavation was conducted at Mishmar David (Permit No. A-8856; map ref. 190761–851/636412–505; Fig. 1) in preparation for the expansion of the kibbutz. The excavation, undertaken on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and funded by A. Hamami, was directed by Y. Elisha, with the assistance of Y. Amrani and Z. Lotan (administration), R. During August 2007, a salvage excavation was conducted in Ramat Aviv, c. 150 m west of S.Y. Agnon Street (Permit No. A-5217; map ref. 18005-9/66760-3), after ancient remains were discovered prior to the construction of a residential building. The excavation, undertaken on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and underwritten by Yossi Avrahami Civil Engineering Works, Ltd., was directed by E. Jakoel, with the assistance of S. During June-August 2008, a salvage excavation was conducted on Bet Ha-Eshel Street in Yafo (Permit No. A-5455; map ref. 177182-320/662196-329), after ancient remains were uncovered during development work. The excavation, undertaken on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and underwritten by the Tel Aviv-Yafo municipality and the Ministry of Tourism, was directed by D. In April 2018, a rescue excavation was conducted near Eyal Interchange (Permit No. A-8255; map ref. 196223-324/679077-291; Fig. 1). The excavation, undertaken on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and financed by the Israel Electric Corporation, was conducted by O. Danziger, assisted by Y. Amrani (administration), N. In September-November 2016, a salvage excavation was conducted on a lot at the intersection of Tel Hai and Herzl Streets in Ramla (Permit No. A-7790; map ref. 188594-643/647998-8051; Fig. 1), prior to construction. The excavation, undertaken on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and financed the Gazit Engineering Company, Ltd., was directed by R. Toueg (field photography), with the assistance of Y. In November 2016, a salvage excavation was conducted at 62 Ha-Horesh Street in Kefar Shemaryahu (Permit No. A-7831; map ref. 18315/67712; Fig. 1), prior to construction. The excavation, undertaken on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and financed by Ilana Amir, was directed by Y. Agmon, with the assistance of Y. Amrani (administration), M. Kahan and R. During May 2011, a salvage excavation was conducted at the Horbat Rahaz antiquities site in Karmi'el (Permit No. A-6176; map ref. 22904-16/75751-63; Fig. 1), prior to construction. The excavation, undertaken on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and underwritten by the Karmi'el municipality, was directed by Y. Lerer, with the assistance of Y. In March-April 2019, a salvage excavation was undertaken in the Nusseiba compound in the neighborhood of Beit Hanina in Jerusalem (Permit No. A-7907; map ref. 221440-60/637807-28; Fig. 1) prior to the laying of a sewage line. The excavation, on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and funded by the Gihon Water Company, was directed by Z. Adawi, with the assistance of N. Nehama (administration), R. Cohen (preliminary inspection and preparation of the area), D. Levi and A. Wiegmann (GPS), A. Hajian (surveying and drafting), D. Tanami (metal detection), N. Zak (plans), A. In May 2016, a salvage excavation was conducted at Horbat Kelah, which is located in Modi‘in (Permit No. A-7703; map ref. 19794/64758; Fig. 1), prior to construction. The excavation, undertaken on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and financed by the Mitrani Holdings and Investments Company, Ltd., was directed by Y. Agmon, with the assistance E. In October 2011, a salvage excavation and documentation took place in the neighborhood of el-'Isawiya in Jerusalem (Permit No. A-6357; map ref. 223460-565/633970-95) prior to construction. The excavation, on behalf of the Israel Antiquities authority and funded by the Baradian Brothers company, was directed by Z. 'Adawi (field photography), with the assistance of N. Nehama (administration), B. Touri and A. Abbasi (preliminary inspections), as well as A. Hajian and M. Kunin (surveying and drafting).

During December 2009, a salvage excavation was conducted at 10 Sokolov Street in Azor (Permit No. A-5790; map ref. 181845-49/658961-65), prior to construction (Fig. 1). The excavation, undertaken on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and underwritten by L. Sagi, was directed by F. Volynsky, with the assistance of S. Ya'aqov-Jam (administration), A.
